- Cluckingham Palace is looking better and better everyday! In this video, I finish adding all the security features and begin the process of landscaping the area around the coop.

123 work hours = 120hrs actual work time + 3hrs throwing dog toys. Lol....i love it, looking great, Ben!!! Cheers!
Your Corgi is relentless! How you get anything done is beyond me, but hysterical!!!
I love your coop but, the pups and the love you have for them is so beautiful. when you leaned over and gave them a kiss and a scratch. I said this Man has a Heart of GOLD! Thanks for sharing.
Had rabbits in an outdoor coop before-don’t underestimate raccoons’ ability to figure out barrel locks, even multiple of them!
Doofie is tireless! You must build some sort of automatic ball thrower.
Came for the marble runs, stayed for the house renovations.
As a person who bought a house which came with 20+ chickens, don't forget the choir-stand type roost inside the coop for them to sleep on. The 8 new chickens we just got started using a low roost at about 2-3 weeks old. Excellent job on your compound.
" Next week, we install the anti-varmint laser security grid... see ya!" haha
jokes aside this chicken coop is great man!
Maybe down the road, when not pushing through filming, make the small window screens into small removable panels held on with clips/hasps/window locks. Those windows gonna get dirty and you’re locked out from the inside. It’s been awesome watching this thing come together. Looks so great.
Fort Benegging.. Looks great and super secure. Those chix shouldn't have any worries about predators.
6:12 you can also use an oscillating tool to cut off any protruding nails. It's faster and neater than flattening them down with a hammer.
Ben, can you please build me a house here in Australia? 😁
Was wondering if you could come up with more puns! You didn't disappoint! What an amazing coop for your girls!!! Can't wait to see them use it. I used to help both of my grandmothers gather eggs so this is a trip down memory lane. Thanks!
Great job Ben, Note for others you should never have wood touching the ground/dirt without some kind of barrier like a vapor barrier. Even pressure treated wood will rot if kept on soil as the soil just holds the water on the wood.
LOL Thank your god that dogs are so forgiving.
That ramp should work perfect. Interesting way you have the roosts in the run, I wonder how the chickies are going to like it. I read a comment below about higher or lower roosts; my experience has been that whatever they get accustomed to is what they are going to prefer. I ended with two separate flocks eventually sharing one coop and the "original" flock preferred roosting inside the coop and the "newer" flock roosted outside in the run. Can't wait to see your coop fully operational! Have a good one :D
Doofie has no boundries and is impatient. Lol
Awesome job sir!
Seeing the dogs constantly interrupt is fun and all, but maybe leave them inside when you're painting.
Ben I love the coop. Couple of tips for the ground mesh I have learned over the years. You will want to either take it down 6-12 inches below grade or come out 2-3 ft from the leading edge of your concrete blocks. Also overlap the outside corners just like the inside ones. Smart critters will find that weak spot and dig in from there as well. Had one friend go 3 ft below grade with their mesh, never had anything get in after that. Just some thoughts hope all goes well with the chickens
Can’t wait to watch this! Thanks for making my Saturday a little more interesting!
Thank you Ben for hours of entertainment. Wish i had your know how/skill set years ago. You are awesome. Love those pups endlessly while you can!
Best chicken coupe on the west coast! Looking good Ben. It's amazing how much work you get done with Doofie always wanting to play. 😁
Hey Ben, not sure if it's necessary in SoCal, since you don't get much rain. But, if the pavers start moving on you, you'll want to pull them up and tamp in a 2" layer of paver sand, to set them all. NOT PLAY SAND. It has to be a rough (jagged) edge granule sand. Play sand is round, and would just wash away. Paver sand locks in place, and allows water to run through it. Just something to think about.
Really good to hear
The odyssey continues
I really enjoy your videos and viewing your projects. Always informative and entertaining.
I love how you have constant building inspectors (the doggos) hahah
12:30 Doofie didn't know what was coming 😂😂😂
I suggest lots of shaving, leaves, hay etc to keep the chickens busy scratching. If they get bored they will beat up on each other...... just a suggestion from one chicken person to another.
that saw you using really the way to go cutting that stuff.
I dont' have one, so I"m over here jelly whenever i have to cut this stuff with snips. haha
Can't wait to see the conveyor belt system that's gonna carry all the chickens about :P :P
You could use 2 to 2 1/2 inch river rock around the base for a clean look and to prevent predators as well.
That is an excellent idea @marine 7494!! Have a good one :)
I love the dogs they so patiently waiting for you to toss the toy
Oh no Ben that poor white shirt 🤣
Doofie needs a job -- I heard PetSmart is hiring. Also, where do you get one of those giant fun rakes?
This coop is worth more than I have in possessions, car included
Dammit Ben. Can you not make me invested in a chicken coop series? 😭
Really hope you get silkie chickens
I would consider adding more secure latches on things, raccoons are persistent. Fantastic work though, coop and house. At least your dogs play fetch, one wants me to chase her around yard.
How have you not torn the squeaker out of the toy?
I would have totally locked the dogs in the coop while painting to keep their paws out of the way.
I would recommend a very thin firing strip to be nailed over the stapled edges of the mesh
I have heard that perches in run need to be lower than inside coop or the chickens will sleep outside in the higher perches instead of inside in lower perches.
Hi Ben. Are you going to be putting some sort of trim piece on the outside to hide the joins of the mesh and staples?
Dogs are so funny xD
Ben actually made a chicken coop and made videos about it just to make RUclips title puns
Chicken wire can be chewed through by foxes and anything bigger, but hog panels will let weasels and such in, predator protection is such a fickle thing especially when considering budgetary issues...
Yo Ben please build a mobile work bench/table saw horses or something...
You can buy a machine that throws a tennis ball for pooches, you can train them to drop the ball into the hopper....... may save your sanity.
Hello Ben. Perfect job but I assume you have to make the ratsor others not coming from into the ground to kill your chicken. Sorry for my English, I am French.
What about adding the mesh to the inside of the coop, to give it another layer of security?
It’s not Cluckingham Palace, it’s Cluckingham Prison! Super max, nothing in and nothing out.
That hardware store def is out of cloth at this point. lol
Where can I purchase a rake that wide?
Please make latches more critter proof
When are you going to put up the mailbox and move in
those gray pavers weigh 22lbs each. I'm gonna bet you got them at Lowe's.
Black would have been much better for the ramp as it will become covered in chicky poo.
Hey Ben. Do you ever lose patience with Doofie?
Is this a jail for future kids?
I think the pups were bothering you so much because they wanted you to build something for them, not chickens. 😂
Why would you wear a white shirt when you’re rolling around in the dirt?
is he expecting foxes to invade his backyard and hunt his chickens? where the hell does he live?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get some different music!!!
The music gives me comfort...know automatically i want to watch!
