I followed your instructions for this project. Changed a few things. Used asphalt shingles and built my run with 2x4s, cedar fencing, and chicken wire. Start to finish, I spent less than $600 on equipment. I used decking screws for everything thinking of longevity. I only have 5 chickens! Building my gravity watering system in a next couple of weeks. Thanks for the great videos. A reminder for newbies like me, when you frame the coop, don't forget to compensate for the thickness of your walls. I forgot, and have 1/2" overhanging ply on all four sides. Doesn't impact the coop, but does expose your experience.Just remember, it's all math.

Very informative with a lot of ideas. Swell production also. I used to have small cops like this but got tired of having to get inside to fix things and clean things, and to occasionally pull out a dead chicken. These days I use two stand in sheds that I made out of plywood and 2x4's, and chicken wire. Along with heavy plastic wrapping for winter. Here in Utah, (fast becoming the Shit Hole of the West!), collecting rain water is illegal as the State claims they own the rain. However without any notification to Church and State which are one and the same, many people do it anyway. Everything I have built I have done on almost nothing. Next to 0$. The only things that have cost me any big money are sheets of clear corrugated plastic over the central green house and the cheapest 2x4's I can get and chicken wire fencing. I like the convenience of being able to get inside myself and rake out the chicken run and or use a small tiller each summer on them. My main trouble right now, that Construction of Homes and Apartments is going on 24/7 and every direction of the compass from where we are, and so RATS from every field that is being eaten up for construction are being driven inward to US! And so I go out with my BB gun from time to time hunt'in Rats. We would sure like to find a Real way to Escape Totalitarian Utah in the very near future!!! All Utahn's will be taking the Mark soon enough, and we want NOTHING to do with it. I am looking for anyone Honest who can help us get out of Utah. I want to go to the S. Eastern Idaho area, where individual Freedom is respected and land is relatively cheap. If you can help us then ask God for my exact name and address and come, or send your representative as soon as possible! With your help and enough means to buy land [with no strings attached], and develop the land with homes and defensive measures, If You Help me, I will make a place for you and also your servants!!! (I have been in Desperate Poverty for 30 years now, with no hope of a future, unless God helps us, due to the LIES that the so-called Saints like to tell.) My aunt was terrified to even see snakes on TV. My dad used to go through my National Geographic World magazine and cover all the snake pics, she gave me such phobia! I have Florida Water Snakes, nonvenomous, not cottonmouths. But, I always say "A heart attack will kill you faster than snake venom!" That's was not the beast I would want to "test my new homemade snake grabber" on. Your coop is amazing, but all the comments on how chickens attract snakes has given me serious thought to chicken keeping in Pensacola, FL.

One more very cheap and easy wild animal deterrent that maybe you haven't heard of or thought about, it even works fairly well in a garden too, and it draws so little voltage, I'm sure you could power it right from your solar and never notice the difference, is a small transistor radio set to a talk radio station (don't use music, I seriously have seen coyotes and deer called in intentionally with a Loretta Lynn 8-track lol), but critters are not as curios about talking voices, especially if they sound mad. Rush, Levin, Stern, Olberrman, etc. Or excited at times, like sports, and sport talk -- not golf though lol. It doesn't need to be loud at all, animals have good ears, just enough that you hardly hear it when you walk away from the garden, or chicken run.

Да это курорт для птицы!) как все продумано, любая мелочь. Браво! Жаль при нашем климате такое не сделать.

5 star hotel living. My so. Is a carpenter and would certainly approve this high class coop. Love it.

Built a few fences with those round timber poles and they always warp! Dad always said, "you pay peanuts, you get monkeys"

Joe, there are so many things going on in this video I don't know where to begin, Lol. First off, I was saying before a coop you build yourself is going to be less expensive and probably way more durable. The coops in the stores look like they would fall apart in a strong wind😂. There are a lot of great tips in here, I really enjoyed the part about coop security, it gave me some ideas. Great job as always. This is definitely what chicken coops should aspire to be. 👍

Thanks for checking it out Jim! It's not perfect but definitely one of those long term projects that keeps you revisting and re tweaking to get the most out of it....hahah.... or maybe I just like to tinker ;)

Check out my channel page and the most recent build series of this coop. Starting about a year ago. I show how I build a new version of this coop but with improvements over this earlier version. I think there’s like 6-7 parts.

Amazing coop! You have skills!! I need to build one but I don't think I'll be able to pull off something this awesome. But it does give me some ideas for sure.

There are many interesting and more advanced things, even a chicken coop, in developed countries. I think we are in Indonesia more than 200 hundred years left behind. Beautiful.

When you grabed that snake and showed it upclose i almost fainted! But it's so refreshing to see a man grab a snake like no big deal, nowdays they dont know how to catch a spider. Coop is amazing btw, great engineering you've got going on there. Your family must be proud!

Only addition I’d make is a lock for the nesting box lid so coyote couldn’t nudge it up with his nose- especially with assisted raise. My dogs try all the time. They love the eggs:)
