I was testing FX30 with Sigma Art 24-70 and experience a similar issue of tap to focus not working towards the edge of frame. I didn't realize it might be do to 3rd party lens. I agree focus breathing isn't great for video but might be fine for sit down interview. I only use zooms for their flexibility. Enjoyed the review. Thx
hoping Viltrox will join L Mount (or as 3rd party OK too) with their LAB lens and Samyang start releasing the compact lenses they have on the E Mount to an L version.
@@TheRealRichardWong Yes, L-mount. I see 2 version (one with and one without SE on the barrel for sale). For my Leica SL. I'm thinking it's just a cosmetic re-vamp of the same lens construction. All specs look the same otherwise. Just asking if you knew of any other reasons for the difference.
The black mist filter is the same as what I have been using for most of this year. So it should be same, however, i've checked the talking head footage it does look a bit softer than usual. Maybe the lens was a bit dirty or could be my editing. Will pay attention when editing my next video. For the close up product shot, i think it's because I switched to use the Sigma 45mm, which appears to be really quite soft at close up! Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate that!
I haven't heard from them about this new 35mm lens yet. I believe it's not officially released yet , but if i have the chance, i would love to review it as 35mm is one of my favourite focal length
@@TheRealRichardWong Yes. It is for sale. I received an email from Meike asking if I want to buy it. It's on their website. I'm tempted to purchase the lens but prefer to wait for your review. 😀
hey Steven, You are correct! Just after i replied to you, Meike has contacted me and offer to send me a sample of their 35 f/2 for review. Unfortunately I have to turn down their offer this time as I have a few other reviews I already scheduled for next few weeks and then I'll be travelling overseas so I can't do this review :(
The lumix S 50mm is clearly much better in my opinion. The image is more consistent overall, and feels more organic than the overly sharp Meike. That being said, the Meike is a great starter lens for anyone on L mount. I think you could get a used Lumix s5(mark 1) + this new Meike lens for $900-$1100. Absolutely unbeatable value
What do you think about this Meike 50 1.8 for L-mount? What 3rd party lenses do you want to see for L-mount?
hi, are you going to test the new samyang 35-150mm? many thanks
100mm f1.8
I love to see that 85 f1.4🎉🎉🎉
Sorry Not planning to review the Samyang at the moment.
Meike 85 1.4 L-mount review is coming soon!

Yes, the focus breathing is not a problem if you don't need to do big focus change..
Meike is going hard with making AF lenses. Love to see it.
Screw the first party OEMs entirely at this point.
Thank you for your time to do this test
thanks for watching!

I know a few companies are looking at adding L-mount support at the moment.
Possibly S9 inspired lens makers to enter L mount, which is much less crowded than E mount.
They did plan this last year before the S9 was announced i believe. But yes definitely less crowded than the E mount
Nice video can you test the 85mm 1.4 af l mount next
Yes that review is coming soon, i've already started testing it.
How loud is the autofocus when recording video?
You tried it on a phase-detect lumix camera only? How does it work on the original s5?
Looking forwaed to a 85mm version
Mine doesn't have "SE" printed on the barrel. Is it the same? Or perhaps from an earlier batch?
is your one for L-mount? or for other mount?

I believe it's purely cosmetic. My Z mount sample also didn't have SE printed on it but otherwise the same lens
@@TheRealRichardWong I thought so. Thanks!
What's your opinion on the lens since you now had time to test it?
always a good quality review, but the diffusion filter feels a little bit excessive?😂
Oh d you mean the talking head video?
@TheRealRichardWong yap, also the close up product shot, personal opinion only of course 😉

Oh no way. This is so cool!!!
Finally some chap lens for my Lumix s5IIx!
How about the Meike 33mm F1.4 for APS-C? Any coming review for it?
I already got a number of other reviews planned for the next few months from other brands so unfortunately not reviewing that at the moment
@TheRealRichardWong Meike just released a f/2.0 35mm AF for L mount. The price is $199. I hope you will review it soon.

That reverse focus ring seems annoying
Would you say this meike js more like 55-60mm?
if you say Lumix is 50mm, then yes. But then it's hard to say if Lumix is really 50mm
@@TheRealRichardWong oh true, what would you say is the best light weight 50mm or 85mm for e mount right now?
Sorry i cannot answer as there are so many E mount 85mm lens and i haven't use most of them
Have you tried the Meike 35mm f2?
No i haven't.
85mm meike vs sigma pls
