Why US Operators Have Kept Flying The Boeing 767 Longer Than Other Major Carriers

- There are few major aviation markets today in which the Boeing 767 remains a mainstay of commercial passenger operations, with the majority of operators across the globe retiring the jet years ago. However, there are a few noteworthy exceptions, primarily in the United States. When flying any route across the Atlantic or from the US to South America on Delta or United, you are more than likely to find yourself onboard a 767 than if you were flying on a non-US carrier. So why is this?

You can't beat the 2-3-2 seating arrangement of the 767.
True.
Best seating configuration ever.
3-4-2 configuration on some B777s are also good
@@jpinsz2009wtf
The A330neo has the same, so is the ideal replacement if comfort matters.
Delta certainly knows how to get the most out of their older aircraft
Unlike their current reputation with modern planes, I think older Boeings have become workhorses. That's why I think they're hanging on to them.
Facts.
Exactly lol. Safer than the new stuff.
The other reason Delta still flies the 767 is that they own them. The longer they are able to fly, the more value they get out of them
Ye
The only 2 reasons to why B787-8 is more efficient is the fact that they could carry more passengers on longer flights. On medium haul operations, fuel burn are quite comparable since B767-300ER and B767-400ER doesn't have the heavy wings/wingbox that B787-8 have.
The shorter the range is, the more efficient B767 became compared to B787-8.
@@nntflow7058 don't the RB211's just burn way more in any scenario compared the Trent 1000?
There are some B767 that are about 10-15 years old for JAL and ANA due to the delay in the delivery of B787
Reliability, the airframe was built and engineered before the Boeing and MD merger, so you know it was built with safety and quality than shareholder value cutting corners. I'm surprised carriers are buying new builds coming off the KC-46 line, I heard UPS and FEDEX have orders on that line.
FAA recently mandated the end of passenger Boeing 767 production due to them not meeting modern environmental standards. Last production is scheduled for 2027 or 2028. Something similar will also happen to new build 767 freight aircraft.
@@boristhebarbarian The freighter version will have to phase out of production after 2027 for emissions rules. The passenger version is no longer being produced.
Best layout for long haul economy 2-3-2 next to A330 at 2-4-2
I love the 767, especially Delta's first class cabin.
There will never be anything that’ll replace the 767 completely
Flew Delia's 764 from ATL-EZE, loved the new cabin.
The 764s are nice.
The Boeing 767 is my favorite plane
It's a magnificent plane of it's time. For todays standards it is too loud.
@@BigWhoopZH earplugs and noise cancelling. No plane is too loud
@@mabamabam I don't like either of those on or in my ears for hours.
Have you ever heard of the GE90?
Is my favourite too!! 😍
767 was my first plane I flew on with Brittania Airways and felt it was the most comfortable plane ever and its still modern today.
The Boeing 767 in my opinion is one of the most excellent widebody aircraft that ever made by Boeing.
To me it’s the best ever Boeing aircraft!
I'd say 777.
🎉B767 is the best.
Flew to London on the 767-400 last March and enjoyed every aspect of trip.
Going to Ghana in July and will be flying the 767-300.
Both flights I choose premium select.
The 767/757 family were great planes. Still are!
JAL still flies the 767 on mid-haul international routes
All Boeing designed airplanes have been commercial successes (B717 was basically the MD-95 which Boeing inherited in 1997). Not so with Airbus, i.e. A340 & A380 were not.
Yeah smcdonald9991, profitability over everything. You won the Boeing fanboy award of the day. Congrats! 🎉
If they make another 2-3-2 configured aircraft it would be my absolute favorite.
Nothing beats this in economy
I looks like the market is not able to serve the demand and thus still using the 767 seems to make sense.
Just seems like they fit the current needs. Proven aircraft that will eventually be replaced but let's faces it especially with the 787 the replacement may be slow to arrive.
United 763 Polaris feels beautiful honestly
Why get rid of the old so urgently when it still functions better than the new? That’s how I can describe how aircraft from the 747 to the 777 are
The 767 is excellent in terms of passenge confort
There Really Good ang Safe Airplane even to there Age now..They can do for sort range and Long range👌👌☺️🇵🇭🇮🇹
Great airplane!
The single biggest issues with the 67 was the container the LD2 is smaller and only useable on the 67, thu making it difficult to transfer quickly frieght ffrom plane to plane. The other issue was the Engine . These engines are almost unique to the 67 .
Like the 767
Give them new, more fuel efficient engines and you're good
Reliable Aircraft
Those airframes are more than likely paid for, including the airframes DL acquired with the CO merger.
Delta merged with Northwest. United merged with Continental.
CO? No, it was NW.
All of Delta's 767s they owned originally. They inherited NW's Airbuses.
I wish American still kept the 767
I know- And US Airways flew them, so they had to work double time to get rid of them.
I have 767 subs!
I wish they still had their 757s!
a330-900neo
Tl;dr 787's are not there yet.
Proper Boeing. Not known for things to drop off perhaps?
UNITED!
Love the 767- 400er variant, very rare. UA owns all of them, so they are getting their money's worth while the 787s begin to replace them.
Delta operates 21 of them, while UA has 16.
757
reengine ASAP !!!!!!!
Shouldn't be too hard, name it the 767-8, 767-9 & 767-10. Those variants would replace the 200/200ERs, 300/300ERs & the 400/400ERs respectively!
Doesn't matter if 787 & A330neo are available for 767 replacement. Also, re-engine the plane will taking more time & cost for certification so it won't be ready ASAP.
Go Airbus..!🙂

Delta should order Boeing 787s instead of Airbus 330 neos✈️🛬🛫
Delta once inherit Northwest's 787 order, which later cancel the order.
@@WNDWSTIDN Smart move.
The 787 has been plagued with multiple problems and the FAA has at times grounded them, Boeing today isn’t the company the created great engineered jets of the past. The McDonnell way of building crushed Douglas and is now the problem at Boeing. To many bean counters trying to save money left and right which is the problem with all of the 737 MAX series, 777x and 787. Airbus is the best manufacturer and engineered commercial aircraft manufacturer in the world.
