- Опубликовано: 5 июн 2024
- The Airbus A321XLR is expected to enter passenger service later this year, and Air Canada anticipates taking delivery of its first in the fourth quarter of 2025. The airline is already in advanced planning for how to utilize the aircraft. Simple Flying recently discussed the plans with Mark Galardo, Air Canada's Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning.

JetBlue will love this aircraft.
JetBlue did not order it
@@ericwalker2434they ordered 13 aircraft’s
@@thefreshmaker001 maybe LR, not XLR
I bet Boeing is crying now for why they stopped the 757
It was simply born at wrong time.
@@LocPham-pb2dvthey ought to have kept it in the “might need this” file.
No not really
@@managed9348 yes now airbus is stealing 757 customers
Even the 737 MAX 10 can’t compete with the A321LR or XLR cause the XLR’s range advantage over the MAX 10 is twice the LR’s range advantage.
Maybe AC could actually fly internationally from Ottawa again...pre-covid there were (full) daily flights to London and Frankfurt. Now nothing to Europe. Painful to do the Montreal or Toronto hop when the demand in Canada's fourth largest city is there for European travel.
Agreed! They always used archaic 767’s, but I believe the route ended because their retired them . Maybe this XLR allows the route to come back?
They'll have to compete with the YOW-CDG Air France flight now, though. They may not want to. I hope they bring back the London flight though.
@@herpderp159 I’m praying new equipment will bring it back
Same, although I’m hoping for Edmonton transatlantic flights
looking forward what Airlines can do towards FAA concerning the XLR's RCT
Well the aer lingus a321xlr is already in construction so I wonder how that one in specific will be affected
It will most likely open up the quebec city market to europe which is already marketed by air canadas competitors
More direct flights to Montreal would be great.
These would replace their current older A320 & A321s? Pity they dont have any A350s on order
Uses the 787 instead of
Non-stop Scotland to Vancouver would be awesome for me!
Agree or Vancouver - Dublin!
@@noelgenoway9360already flying seasonally!
Ottawa-Heathrow please!
Ottawa-London I hope
Makes for some interesting options alright.
Great choice by Air Canada!!!
Smart plan unlike some of other purchased aircraft of the past that I need not mention…
I am already thinking in how good it will feel to fly on in the future
GREAT ideas and planning AC! and yes, please keep expanding to the United States?
Hopefully Air Canada orders some A330 neo’s also
Chances of that are very low tho
Me too. But it seems they're going with the 787 for medium capacity long haul
Don’t need them.
They will probably just continue to order second hand ones if they still feel the need to deploy them.
@@harkmi3 nah they'll wet lease some 15 years later
Wasn’t the range reduced to 8400km or something for parts required for the additional fuel tank?
Kingston,Jamaica! To the Bahamas I hope!
I wanna go in it!
Great
When is the certification going to come & start delivering
Unfortunately the XLR won’t help Air Canada’s abysmal customer service and on time performance
It will
@@Choosewiselyeye
Aircraft don't fix shoddy customer service and bad management.
It can help solve one of those problems. Customer service? Not so much.
My thoughts exactly. Onboard service is 3rd world at times.
I hope they send more if to Algiers
Looking forward to AC European (and LHR) flights from Ottawa restarting.
I wonder if they will use it to open new or add frequencies to Hawaii with them.
No mention of Vancouver departures.
I don't understand why they need this for North American routes. The regular A321neo would give them the entire continent anyway.
But they opted for the 737 Max instead of going with the Neos. Although AC already operated the A320 family before. I bet they regret that decision!
Political decision by CEO, Boeing’s assistance during air canada’s bankruptcy restructuring.
They've done well with the 737 Max 8's, really nice ride actually. Air Canada can use both A320 and 737 family aircraft, other major North American airlines like Delta, American Airlines, United do the same.
Great Air Canada
Those "premium cabins" A-321XLRs are good news for all the California based actors, execs, and writers filming year round in Toronto and Montreal. It's actually much closer than Europe, contrary to what this video says, but whatever: it's a great tool to have. Also allows service to Mexico, Brazil, Panama, Columbia, and North Africa - the latter which will delight Montreal's Moroccan community. Great move.
I hope AC will reopen the YYZ-BUD route, maybe launch the YUL-BUD.
I second that 🇨🇦😎🇭🇺
What is the difference between restart and resume? Keen to know.
Lol
Is that range plot taking in account average mandatory extra fuel security margins?
Yes.. sort of. The issue is that the spare fuel depends on secondary airport
If you mean the map shown, not really. And you have to keep in mind at least one, better two diversion destinations too. But Senegal should be fine with these reserves taken into account.
ETOPS certification has to do with the airline, its governing body for its nation and the route structure. There’s no one size fits all answer but in short to answer your question….. yes it does.
So are they replacing the a330 now I hope not
Only if the capacity is not needed. The A330's will probably serve other routes, I doubt that Air Canada would sell them.
@@damcoentertainment3956 like u mean they use the Neos in mid and short haul flights
I think it may feel small inside
This aircraft is very exciting to me🎉
Looks like the XLR could reach Accra and Lagos hmmm
Nah bro
Practically, I doubt.
Yep. Quicker for folks to bring the relatives over.
A321 XLR won't fly straight to 10 to 11 hours so obviously it won't gonna happen. Unless they refuel at Senegal
Come to Cardiff please Air Canada 🇨🇦 🙏 ❤️
I just don’t think enough people would fly to Cardiff from Canada
@user-tk2me8xy1f how about people flying across Air Canada's network to Cardiff or vise visa?
@@matthewbarber9846 I‘m sure there’s not that many. Cardiff is relatively small. But they could advertise it I guess to get more tourists
What is the boeing equivalent of this a321 xlr
probably the 757-200
@@Fryingpan1000Last made in 2004!
Wish the got some a350s
Oh no, gonna be flying on this little plane over the Atlantic in even more uncomfortable seats 😢
How will impact western Canada ?
Vancouver to Japan?
I would prefer to drive than flying with Air Canada!
I just hope they don't put the rear toilets inside the employee kitchen. There's literally nowhere to go when you're standing there waiting to go. It's so awkward.
Glad they went this way rather than boeing
He said A330 is still too big even in summer to Toulouse.
well it wil great to to fly with malle aircraft
Problem isn’t the airplane, it’s the airline and dealing with the indifferent staff.
Maybe if P&W can figure out their engines. The A220 is suffering greatly.
Not really, its been fine. The Embraer E2 also uses those same engines yet has been doing great for Porter with no issues too.
I don't like single aisle plane on flights over 3 hours.
Just like flying the DC 8 or 707 40 years ago
Okay, but I bet that the vast majority of the flying public won't care if it saves them money and time
I love these videos - but PLEASE stop repeating the same lines 2 or 3 times - better to be more efficient with the intro and have more videos than try to expand 2 minutes of content to 3.5 minutes!!!
I hope XLR Can be deployed for the Palembang route to the middle East destination for pilgrimage
0:22 Isn't nepotism awesome?
This Airbus "321" model number ... is the countdown to Boeing's demise
Voted one of the worst in North America
Actually, its the opposite. Air Canada ranks highly.
Capricorn zodiac sign means crocodile Trudeau is crocodile
Air Canada should consider the Boeing 757 which is more reliable and most likely by passengers
Personally I like and prefer Boeing
They don’t make it anymore
Need the XLR to fly to California? It can fly all the way to Hawaii. The standard A321neo can get to San Diego, forget about the LR.
I was surprised Air Canda only restarted flights between Hongcouver and Singapore this year, but with incompetent execs like this it makes sense.
the max8 is trash quality compared to the neo
Buck Foeing!
So, lie-flat seats?😅
No big deal. If it doesn't work out another taxpayer bailout will cover any problems.
