  • LEAVING CALIFORNIA - AN HONEST CONVERSATION
    Have you been thinking about leaving California and aren't sure if it's the right choice for you? Or are you wondering where to go? Maybe leaving California, or leaving your home state, is something you need to do and it just feels too overwhelming? Or, maybe you have thought about leaving California but you have chosen to stay?
    We are having an honest conversation with my two sisters, about why we have chosen to either stay in California, leave California, and what concerns we faced with those decisions. One of my sisters left California to move to Texas, one has stayed, and of course, I chose to leave California many years ago to move to Boise, Idaho. So weather you are wondering if you should be leaving California, if you are thinking of moving to Boise, if you are thinking of moving to Idaho, or you just want to listen to an honest conversation about working through concerns with moving to a new state, you should find some helpful information here!

    Are you thinking of leaving California or your current home state? What are some of your main concerns with picking up your entire life and moving to a new place for a better life?

  • @lsmith4355

    School services in Cal are not good for special needs kids .Experienced this even in rural Northern California. The crime and homelessness has also moved further into rural areas and it is supported by the governor and his poor leadership. I don’t see it ever changing back to the way it was due to the current political party. Sad as they have ruined what was a wonderful place to grow up and live. The prices on everything in California are astronomical compared to Idaho. Idaho is also experiencing a lot of growing pains from the huge population increase but depending on where you’re from in California, it’s still doesn’t seem as bad. 75% of my friends and family have moved to either Montana, Texas or Tennessee, and are very happy with their individual choices. It is very hard to pick up and leave everything you know, but we are still very happy with the decision. People need to realize that parts of Boise are very blue and outside of that it is more republican/ freedom loving way of life. 🇺🇸

      Thank you for sharing your experiences and perspective - I appreciate you adding to the conversation! People get really hung on the the cost of a house and forget to think about all the other expenses of not only home ownership, but life as well. Idaho is much cheaper, even if you are coming from an area of CA where homes are about the same cost as Boise area. And there is no way to show someone how much better the quality of life can be elsewhere until they actually take the leap of faith and experience it for themselves!

    Interesting Video. My family is going thru this now. My wife and I have lived in Placer County in Ca our whole adult life. CA policies are pushing us out and the changing laws here do not align with our values. I got permission to transfer my employment to the Boise office. So we are on our way. Caregiving kept us here during lockdowns. But now it is time to find a place where our daughters can feel accepted and welcomed.

      Thank you for sharing. I know my family member’s, who live in that area, utility bills have all gone up like crazy in the last few months too. Please feel free to reach out if you need help with purchasing a home in Boise. We’d be happy to help. So glad you were able to get an office transfer. That is fantastic.

    We moved up from San Diego - it got too insane down there. San Diego is a sensory overload… there is never really a time when there is not something to do. That has been the biggest change - just being still, and enjoying the slower pace, which is good. If you’re coming from California, just be prepared to change hobbies, get into some new things

      That is true. I always think that when I am in Orange County visiting my daughter...shopping everywhere, cars everywhere, etc..busy, busy , busy, and I think, wow, how many ways can people fill their time by just spending money? Lol...For me and my family, that lifestyle is "boring" because it doesn't bring us fulfillment. We LOVE that Boise has a little of that shopping, but that most people in the Boise area have know that fulfillment comes from a walk along the river, a family trip to the hot springs, a hike in the foothills, a walk in the snow at the lake, bike rides, a trip to the mountains, community events, etc..all in a safe, welcoming, and as you say, calmer, environment.

    You have a delightful family, Summer. I was born and grew up in the Central Valley of California among tough, hard-working people with spiritual values. I've lived and traveled through most of California over the decades, but it is not the state I remember. Idaho is head and shoulders above California and Texas for many reasons. Though moving to any state is an individual choice, my family and I find a lot of things appealing about Idaho. Live free or die in Idaho. 💪👊

We are blessed to be here in Idaho after leaving California two years ago. Summer found a lovely home for us, with kind a fun neighbors.

    100% agree. I left SoCal for Nampa on my own. Love it here (although I knew family would follow). My grandmother has her home in Glendale, CA under contract and intends to live with me until she finds a property here in Idaho. Its sad because she never intended to sell that house! She wanted to live out her retirement in that home, but the crime and cost of living was too much for her.

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  Год назад

      I am so happy to hear that she is able to move here and be with you. That will be great, so she will have plenty of time to find a home that works for her. Sometimes people stay because it seems easier and they can squeak by in affordability, but once they come here and realize the difference in quality of life as well as how much farther their money can go on things like taxes, utilities, gas, etc.. they wish they came sooner. It's amazing how much people can tolerate (crime, squeeze on finances, etc..) until they really understand there is a better way and it's all a matter of choices.

    Is it true that the people in Idaho really dislike people from California?

    • @SummerAstonRealEstate
      @SummerAstonRealEstate  Год назад +3

      In general, no, that is not true. Idahoans don't love the increase of people moving here and any changes that come with growth. Most understand that growth is inevitable. There are a handful that feel like if they are grumpy about it, they can look for someone to blame, and that tends to be Californians, although there are people that move here from many other states as well. And those people who are unhappy about it tend to be very vocal on the internet, but they represent only a small minority.

      Most of the country loves californians if they stay in california. If they come to red states....not so much. Pls stay and enjoy the fruits of your voting and your sophistication.

    CA's are not really wanted anywhere in the Rocky Mtn West and probably beyond.
    Colorado Natives view CA's as failed transplants who through poor voting habits, backwards decision making and failed policy choices destroyed what they had and are now in CO and other Rky Mtn States to repeat their mistakes. The most welcoming to transplant CA's are other transplant CA's. Otherwise, CO and beyond are not so welcoming to California. As CA's have flooded in they have brought their homeless, drug abuse, crime, traffic, attitudes, poor decision making and failed agendas, everything they intended to escape. CO Natives resent CA's for exactly these reasons as CA's here do everything they can to turn the RMW into the disaster they left behind. We were raised with western manners and politeness so we are not going to be rude to CA’s ( as CA's are to us ), CA’s should just keep their distance.
