Hi Steve The Union flag when flown is the wide band uppermost is all OK when upside down it means you are in distress but from a distance you cannot define which way up it is . The real flag to show is the Red Ensign or the White Ensign as these flags are easier to see from a distance.

Your wrong about the union flag that one in your vid is flown correct white broad band above the narrow red if you hoist it upside down it means I am in distress!!.
