Hey everyone! We're back to weekly episodes! 🤗And we're gonna do our best to stay weekly. Hope you liked the video. Tell me - which, in your opinion is the stereotype that was the most TRUE and one that was the most FALSE in this video?

I think the truest is the hot sauce, need it for everything, least false is the drug cartels because many of those drugs are made in the US and bought by those in the US, most of us get to work and don’t deal, but great video Marina!!! 🇲🇽

Such a great video! I am from Romania and I grew up with Mexican telenovelas, I've watched Rebelde, Rubi, and Teresa (and many more) more times that I would like to admit haha. From my experience, Mexicans are super-friendly and warm, it's almost like they integrate you in their group instantly. They are also super fun and cheerful, nice to be around (although a bit dramatic indeed haha, but maybe that is just my Eastern European grumpiness kicking in). And the food is divine! I would love to visit Mexico someday. 🇲🇽

Hopefully you get your wish to visit someday and enjoy the food, the culture, it's people and places.😊 I'm curious since you mentioned you love Mexican telenovelas if you watch them dubbed or subtitled? Since I've heard people mention learning the language from watching telenovelas and since Spanish and Romanian are both romance languages and share many similarities.

    • @catalinavrabie9819

@@esperanzaarce9563 Thank you for your lovely comment - te mando un abrazo! In Romania we use subtitles and don't dub movies and TV shows and you are very right, many girls from my millennial generation learned at least a bit of Spanish from telenovelas. What also helps is that Spanish is similar to Romanian, so easy to understand once you get more exposure to it (Even if you haven't studied Spanish in school). An added bonus, apart from watching all the drama unfold in Rubi! 😎 Nowadays I think Turkish soap operas are becoming more popular, but I love the Mexican classics haha!

    • @esperanzaarce9563
      @esperanzaarce9563 3 года назад +6

@@catalinavrabie9819 Gracias, igualmente un abrazo hasta Rumanía🤗. That's so cool that so many people learn Spanish from watching telenovelas and that you love Rubi, which in my opinion is better than Teresa🤭. My absolute favorite is Corazon Salvaje(1993) if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. Sadly, Mexican telenovelas aren't what they used to be and I'm currently watching Sefirin Kizi from Turkey but in Spanish since I can't find it subtitled☹️.

I can attest to the helpfulness of Mexicans. I am a US citizen who once ran out of gas on a freeway in San Diego, CA. I pulled over to the shoulder on a ramp and turned on my emergency lights. Lots of cars rushing by at high speed. Sure enough, a group of people stopped to try to help me. They were tourists from Mexico. I was surprised when this beautiful woman got out of the car and offered to help me in Spanish. I told her that I was waiting for a tow, but thanked her.

I’m from LA and I travel to Mexico annually thanks to CBX which hooks up SoCal to Tijuana airport. If you tell me you’ve been to Mexico but only stayed within your all inclusive resort in Cancun or Cabo, then you’ve never actually been to Mexico. The real Mexico is the markets, the street food, the local artwork, and the diverse natural beauties that makes up this beautiful country. I’d rather be eating 50 cent tacos on the street corner than eat at a restaurant. Mexico really isn’t as bad as a tourist if you keep a low profile, don’t do shady things, and listen to the locals. I’ve followed these rules and the only thing I came back from Mexico with was an extra few pounds and bottles of quality mezcal and tequila

I was kinda mad about the immigration question. Most of us Mexicans don't want to go and live in the US, but they asked to migrants, so naturally they all said yes.
It also depends a lot in the socioeconomic factor. Many times people with not many resources will learn that the US is great and will develop this desire to live the "American dream", but as you move through middle and upper classes you will find that most of us don't even want to go, let alone live in a Country where they don't want us. Like, c'mon, the world has many countries where we are actually welcomed to visit and we have a beautiful country to live in.

I'm Australian and lived in Mexico for a couple of years. Australians and Mexicanos are both quite hard and stoic people. But, when it comes to emotionalism and romance we're polar opposites. Personally, I like American men, because unlike Australian men, they have more than one emotion per week or month, but unlike Mexicanos, they're not having an emotion every hour. The biggest difference I noticed between our two cultures was "hierarchy", Mexico is a very, very hierarchical society, whereas in Australia, we're not allowed to admit out loud that there *may* be a social status difference between a professor and an electrician, let alone behave like there's a difference. I'm sure I offended many, many Mexicans with my lack of appropriate respect in one direction and perhaps seemed mocking by my undue respect in the other direction.

If exist hierarchy, not necessary means is "Bad"...for example some regions are better than another ones, now figure out why.

That romantic stereotype is so true ❤️. When i was 15 this guy i barely new took serenata to my house at 3 am just to ask me out on a date to the movies. I turned him down. :/ when i think about it i think it was a nice gesture.
