  • THIS WEEK WE SHOW HOW TO TRANSFER LEVELS FROM A DATUM ONTO A NEW BUILD HOUSE FOUNDATION USING A LASER LEVEL AFTER WE CLEAR OUT ABOUT A TON OF SILT AND WATER !....... WE ARE WORKING ON A 4 BEDROOM DETACHED HOUSE . THE FOUNDATION IS 4 COURSES OF TRENCH BLOCK WITH 4 COURSES OF RED ENGINEERING BRICKS ON TOP TO BRING US UP TO DPC/SLAB LEVEL.
    INSIDE THERE ARE 2 COURSES OF COMMON BRICKS WHER THE 150 MM THICK CONCRETE SLAB SITS.
    THE FOOTING HAS BEEN DUG AND CONCRETED FOR ABOUT 5 WEEKS SO NEEDS A 13 TON EXCAVATOR TO DIG OUT ALL THE MUD WATER AND SILT THAT HAS BUILT UP........ ENJOY!

    Just curious gents, why aren't you keeping the staff on the ground and moving the detector up and down, then taking a measurement off the staff and allow for your original datum offset?

      I have been out of SM for 5 years now and did consider myself old school hence why I picked up on this very basic element of thinking ahead but also consideration for the hard working guys trying to scratch a living .I think it’s gone well over the top now with little shits sneaking about taking photos and causing stress and financial issues for small companies! It should be about team work and people using their loaf but with the quantity surveyors now running the show it now goes down hill and the tradesman bricklayer ends up pumping and hand digging wet clay off the foundation even before he can set out 🙄🤔

    At 9.18 seconds my question is I see how he put the gage rod with the receiver on the nail which is dpc height but when moved the receiver down to hear the constant sound it wasn't near the nail doesn't that means it's Iver dpc height? I'm confused

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
      @SteveAndAlexBuild  3 года назад +1

      The bottom of the staff is on the nail at dpc level (datum )
      The laser level can be any height above the datum in this case a couple of feet so wherever you move the staff and move the receiver till you get a single tone then you are level with the datum wherever you are .
      I hope that makes sense , thanks for watching and commenting 🧱👍🏽

      Morning pal . Over here all metric coursing is incriments of 75mm so 1 brick 75mm ( inc bed )
      3 brick = 1 block = 225 mm .
      A trench block is 440 mm long (2 brick )

      Kyle Arts try the Back on site video about 3 back plus there is a garage foundation vid from last year showing us setting out .
      If your working off an existing building you just have to follow what’s there .
      We don’t always get a peg to work off in that case we work off one of the other foundations .

    • @kylearts5095
      @kylearts5095 5 лет назад +1

      @@SteveAndAlexBuild brill cheers just looked when you are checking your diagonals are you checking they are same each corner to make sure it's square and do you use a laser level when setting your trench block corners ? Or just do it too gauge ? Do you always do the same sort of foundation ? Also may be stupid question where do you know first too string a line across to get each corner or do you rough guess the line ? or are the concrete footings made bigger to get the foundation on?

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
      @SteveAndAlexBuild  5 лет назад +1

      Kyle Arts . If we are building a square or rectangular building then the diagonals will match .
      The laser is used in the beginning to give us a gauge measurement on each corner then it’s just built to gauge from then .
      The house is set out by the engineer....... a pin on each corner and sprayed on the ground to be dug . All the walls are set out with lines way past the outside of the building line and new pins are added called offsets . The dig is done and concreted then we can put our lines onto the off sets and plumb down . Or more commonly now the engineers re visit and put a nail into the concrete on each Corner .
      The trenches have to be 150 mm wider then the wall on each side . It’s called the spread . 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
