- The ryzen 7 5800X is known for running hot and power hungry. I assume due to binning a lot of users ended up receiving samples which just have more power shoved into them than what’s necessary for maintaining near stock performance. You can easily alter your power limits and significantly reduce power, lower temps, and reduce noise for your chip while also keep the same stock gaming performance.

Minor error on the power consumption graph for CB23, the y-axis label should be power in watts, not temperature.
Wow is been a while since I undervolted anything...I was overwelhed but your explanation short and sweet and to the point I have the same PROC as you and the temps were driving nuts TVM and have a sub!!!
Wow, incredible difference using your bios numbers! Thank you!! I won't pretend to understand what those settings do exactly, but noticeable improvement in temperatures and performance after making your recommended changes. I'm assuming the positive performance difference is from the elimination of temperature based throttling.
Last night I for the first time considered using the curve optimizer and I was pretty impressed.
I undervolted per core in the BIOS with a MAX stable undervolt of 6 cores at -25 and -10/-15.
After the undervolt, my 5800X using OCCT as a stress test - 30min extreme run returned no errors, MAX temp of 63c (ambient room temp of 27c) and 4.801GHz all cores and a max power draw of 102w using the phanteks glacier one 280mm AIO.
did you use PBO limits?_ Was that necessary?
@@mikerichards2317 No, I left the limits all at stock. I let the motherboard take care of that.
I'm sure you've figured out by now, that those offsets were unstable AF. 30 minutes isn't enough of a stress test. Just in case anyone sees your comment in 2023, DO NOT try those offsets. It could possibly be stable after stress testing for 24 hours BUT give it another day or even a week and you'll start getting hitching and then blue screens. Don't blindly put other people's absurd settings into your bios 👍
@@sheekie127 Man PBO with -25 on 6 cores and -10/-15 on last two are perfectly stable for most of 5800x...
30minutes isn't enough tho. You want different types of load too. Light burst loads and all core test loads for about 12 hours(Yes, it needs to be that long and usually done overnight). If it still doesn't crash or produce a single error after that, you are truly stable.

I'm glad I stumbled across this video because I recently built a new PC, and I ended going with thew Ryzen 7 5800x not realizing how hot this chip gets, but after I change the setting to the ones shown at 4:30 that significantly dropped my temps. When idling the temps of the 5800x went from 60-65°C to 40-45°C. The power consumption decreased from 80W at idle to 25-35W. Long story short I definitely recommend these settings if you are having issues with your Ryzen 7 5800x staying cool! Thanks!
I have a 5800x and I recently discovered the ryzen master software and ran the curve optimizer feature. After I did that the CPU was running at least 8C cooler at full load, and I ran userbenchmark and my CPU wasrunning way above expectations.

thank you very much this helped me A LOTT usually don't comment on videos but man you deserve a huge THANKS the least i can do !! i have a Asus prime B550 plus for people hesitating to try this with the same MOBO. i can tell you it will decrease your CPU temps ALOT without any deficiencies when it comes to performance i have a COOLER MASTER MASTERLIQUID ML240L V2 and Ryzen 7 5800X with the mobo i mentioned previously, i run the cinbench text with the stock settings i hit score of 14448 with temps around 82C and tried it again with the settings given and hit 13602 with temps around 59 pretty happy about it . ones again THANKSS !

I discovered this and doing undervolt to my 5800x and my rtx 3800 lowered the temperatures from 91c (!!!!) to 75c!

Thanks for this, I just put together a new system based around a Ryzen 7 5800X and after scratching my head trying to figure out what I'd done wrong I started Googling and concluded that I hadn't actually done anything wrong and this CPU just really likes to run hot. Going to try some experiments and see how it goes with modifying my limits.

Wow this is probably the closest anyone could ask for I'm running Msi gaming edge wifi, 5800x, evga 3080 12gb, 970 evo plus m.2 drive and 64 gb ram. Ive watched quite a few videos and nothing matched up, most importantly the Bios. Thanks

Something I despise doing but putting in the time to get a good setup in bios is amazing.
In my bios the setting max cpu boost clock overdrive I can either set too disabled, enabled positive, or enabled negative. Which one should I pick?

Fresh out the box with an aoi I'm getting 80 on startup then goes down to 50 idle, after trying this I'm down to 30deg.... Amazing man 💪🏾, clocks down to 4.4 tho on cinebench run gonna play around a bit more

Can u provide your numbers & curve numbers you used ? Plz , bcoz I'm using a air cooler too. Playing games and heavy tasks the pc shut downs & blue screen. Its very annyoing.
@@ninadramteke1999 I set my PBO to what he did in the video, PPT:115 TDC:90 EDC:105, and that fixed all my issues. I am running a bequiet slim 2 and my core temp never goes over 75 now. As for curves, I just switched everything back to “normal” in my BIOS. I believe this puts the fan at 50% until about 50C then ramps up linearly from there with 100% around 70C

I have the same bios settings as you (same motherboard as well) and I’m also getting 63-65 degrees in cinebench, only losing 200pts, but I have the Scythe Fuma2. This shows that with power limited people don’t need a beastly cooler.
Interesting to note that with these settings, my 5800x now regularly boosts, and stays, to 5.0-5.1 ghz so single thread applications will get a boost.

Basically you limit the voltage that goes to the cpu and this allows it to stay cooler and thus allows it to boost itself higher. Here is an example video.

I have the 5800x and I use a Corsair dual fan liquid cooler and the highest consistent temps I have seen under load were up to 70 degrees Celsius. I’ve peaked 90 degrees Celsius at 100% load but for only less than 10 seconds and then it was back at normal temps.
I have a regular air cooler and it never goes over 70
Removing dust filters and removing my glass front panel helped me drop 5-10-15C while mildly under volted. I also changed from 120 instake to 140 Intake. My current set up is Corsair 280x with h115i 280 aio top mounted, it was suffocating with the 120 intake,front glass and dust filters. I had no choice but to swap to 140 Intake and remove the front glass panel to get stable good temps. You could have a 360 rad but if it’s not getting good air it will still suffer not new information but it’s something not experienced or new pc users have the inclination to think of

Great video! have the same cooler and chip. but question, did you use curve optimizer as well when lowering down the PTT, TDC, and EDC? just curious since I am doing a custom curve to lower down voltages for my chip since i hit over 1.40v on load in most games.

if you inch pbo and vddcr offset down your get lower temps and good ghzzzz and lower voltage but voltage down amps up (edc), which is ok if you got a half decent board, video about reducing power.

Eco mode is also a great and very easy option to lower temps but keep gaming performance. I'm on a 5600x and temps went from 65 C to 50 C when gaming but identical performance and sometimes even faster since it can keep higher clocks due to lower temps. You lose some multicore performance but it's a simple On-Off switch in bios for when you need to do rendering.
Yes you’re right but you’re also limiting the power of the card by soemthing like 50%. If you aren’t noticing performance degradation then keep it but would suggest you look into it. You can just set an offset voltage and mess w PBO limits. I’m now in the 60s when gaming
@@mannyfresh7065 Eco mode is just lowered PBO, just simplified for the end user. Lowering PPT is the single best way to improve energy efficiency on Ryzen CPU's, somewhat more effective than undervolting. You're basically allocating a power budget for the Ryzen, and then from there it intelligently works out how to use that power. If you undervolt the CPU using an offset, it's going to do the same thing only in a more indirect way, with potentially more unexpected results.
@@Magnulus76 Would you suggest just using the ECO mode over manually changing your PBO and curve opt limits? Im currently using the 95w Eco mode and noticed a pretty big difference in temp from the stock settings and no noticeable loss in performance in the few games Im playing. I do see the CPUs still boost to 4800mhz. However I also noticed that my voltage is still getting up to 1.4...I was hoping in eco mode it would drop the voltage to the 1.2 to 1.3 tops? Im thinking the lower voltage should also help with temps and better boosts?
@@peterc504 Not much you can do about voltage. Some BIOS have a maximum voltage offset, but it seems to have been depricated/broken since a few months ago with recent bios updates from AMD. The only good thing is not alot of power is behind it in terms of current, so it's not going to be a major source of heat. Use QuickPC to edit the Windows Power Management settings to cut boost clocks 200 MHz or so. That will lower the voltage to less than 1.36 or so on boost. Even with boosting to 1.4V in games, the CPU will probably last a decade or more. You lose about 5-6 percent performance in single threaded applications, however. I play alot of older games or Chess so I really don't miss the performance, but for AAA games it might matter.
The voltage is not as big a problem as heat + current. Heat increases thermal resistance. And the more you boost under high heat operation, the harder the SMU in Ryzen is going to drive the current.

I wanted to start messing with pbo settings and curve optimizer but then I realized how long all of that takes.. So I'm wondering how much of a difference just running in eco 95 mode is vs changing all the settings in pbo and curve optimizer manually will make? Well it be noticeable

A sub from me, a great practical info channel. bought a 5800X/3080 system, I have never OC or UV, if I understood correctly to UV you have to apply the values in motherboard BIOS only? I mean there is also a Ryzen Master software but I've never used it. And when running the games what was the table of values on the left that Danny was using?

Many 500 series motherboards have a setting for maximum allowable CPU temperature. Most also have an ECO mode, and PBO presets for lower wattages. If you don't want to spend hours tinkering with manual PBO settings, try the presets. As with most modern CPUs and GPUs, that last 3% to 5% in performance is gained through exponentially higher levels of power and heat. Often, sacrificing just a little performance yields drastic reductions in both.
So i ran cinebench test multi and single core several times & was running games many times with no issues. Until my first 2 BSODs...Then playing Arkham knight it froze 2 times. What might be the issue? I am running pbo settings of 115 70 105 with neg offset of 10 all core and 200mhz boost override. When going back to eco mode 95w i get no bsod and arkham knight has no freezes...So Im guessing something in my settings is causing an issue
@@peterc504 And therein lies the problem with using manual settings... Your problem could be any one of the five settings you mentioned, or a combination of two or more of them. The possibilities are almost endless. Unless you are willing to spend countless hours tinkering with each and every one of the five numbers involved, you'll never know. So, what is your goal? If it's to lower the maximum core temperature, look for a setting that limits that temperature, or just use a preset. If it's to gain a tiny bit of performance, disable the PBO limits and set the Curve Optimizer to -30 and see what happens. If your system crashes, drop it to -25, then -20 and so on until it's stable. If more performance is your goal, keep in mind that you're going to do all this for maybe a 4% improvement at best, and then only under certain circumstances, and you'll never notice that unless you're running benchmarks! If you enjoy the endless hours required to stabilize a manual setup, have fun. Otherwise keep it simple, or just run the chip the way it is designed to run and quit worrying about it. Trust me - I've been tinkering with computers for over forty years, and you are headed down one very deep rabbit hole.
@@ExSkyCyclePilot Initially my goal was to just lowern temperatures eventhough they werent too bad 80 was the highest I had seen in gaming. Im thinking the crashes are related to either the boost override of 200mhz or the curve optimizer settings of neg 10 on all cores. Im guessing its these two bc when running eco 95w mode which has all higher pbo settings that then the ones Im using it doesnt crash? I guess what Im wodnering also is what does setting curve optimizer do for performance in games?
@@peterc504 Regarding the crashes, my bet's on the 200 MHz boost. I'd turn that off, and keep the CO setting. If I had no crashes after that, I'd inch up the CO settings until I started having problems again, then back off a bit. Frankly, unless you are running a very high end GPU at low resolutions, nothing you do to the CPU is going to make any difference in games whatsoever. I do have my CO set to negative 30 with PBO limits disabled. I've run hours of tests, and used the computer daily for weeks with no crashes. In benchmarks, I see little to no difference in single core performance. Under full load benchmarks, I get a 3% to 4% improvement. Negative offsets will make no difference in temperatures. Instead, you'll see a slight increase in clock speeds. I see about a 200 MHz boost in full load speeds.

So I played arkham knight for awhile again with the settings it would crash on and now it wouldn't crash lol..my main point of doing these tweaks was to lowern the temps but I also read that the stock 5800x settings it wasted alot of power. So my next goal was to make this cpu as efficient as possible so what is needed to do that?
They have come a long way my old phenom 940 used 125watts.
from what i found out is changing the thermal throttle limit down by 5c on my 5800x and its allowing me to increase my curve more and by default is 90c so 85c seems to be better to limit the tempature target to get more out of your curve. with CO

Damn I just did what you did in this video and my temps went down alot in Cinebench. I think im gonna try out Eco mode and see how well that runs at least until I get an AIO. Running on Wraith Prism right now.
Pretty late to the party but dw too much about an AiO unless you got a silent build with noise dampening parts, I got an X73 Kraken inside a SilentBase 802 fully dampened and even when the case is open shit gets hot - I mean at stock settings or with an OC. In any case I'd never provide even more power to a 5800X, this mf runs amazingly well even with a severe cut in power consumption. If you wanna OC look at your GPU. But even there you can just undervolt and enjoy a silent rig while having enough performance. Take my 6800 xt merc for example. I can feed it with only 990 mV at 2680MHz max with 2130MHz fast timings and it runs like a champ but why? I can live with 5 fps less while giving it 920mV at just 2400MHz, in my case 34MHz below base clock. It still runs everything I want at 4k ultra, with very few outliers or tradeoffs.

Even with the tinkering it's still runs way too hot compared to other 5000 series chips. A 5900x runs 8°C cooler with the same cooler in multicore benchmarks/games that use more cores

U can play with PBO to see what suits you in ryzen Master while running cinebench meanwhile.
When you use Ryzen master for single core do you also see much fluctuation on the frequency? In Ryzen master I see 2 and sometimes even 3 cores activated during the Cinebench R23 single core test. I get a score of 1513 which is average I guess.

Tried yours, eveything at bios set to auto/ default, followed the PBO limits and pc just goes into reboot crash. Any tips?
PPT EDC TDC I have been telling people for 12 months now! The 5800x out of the box has terrible power settings, the CPU will overdraw current and power. By default the 5800x uses as much power as it's 12/16 core siblings!!!
I checked mine in Ryzen Master and I saw the CPU just turn red ( on the throttle meter) at 90W. My PPT = 130, TDC = 85 and EDC=146 @ 68 degrees Celsius. Any comment on those number to improve results maybe?
@@Julequtoi Stock limits are 142 PPT, 95 TDC, 140 EDC. This is terribile. On my 5800X I have 100 PPT, 75 TDC 100 EDC and now it’s more efficiency, because with 140W PPT he hit high temperature that activate thermal throttle and performance go down.

Just bought 5800x, found that dropping CPU Core Voltage (if it is what you are talking about) decreases CPU temperature indeed, but also decreases CPU performance:
with CPU Core Voltage=1.325V my 5800x temperature dropped from ~74C to ~65C and cores frequency increased about 100 MHz (~4,750 MHz), but CPU-Z score dropped by 14% too :(
(so to say - 1.27V may be too low, I read that mostly they set it to about 1.3 - 1.35V).

I'm new to PC building and the most stressful thing for me was the application of thermal paste. I use Coolermaster Hyper 412R and in Cinemabench it scored 14901 pts, which is a bit lower than other people's scores, which might be caused by thermal trothling, but... I just don't know if it's my thermal paste or if it's the cooler or if it's fine even. On Cinemabench it hit 90°C (package) and 92°C (CCD).
On my normal use it doesn't hit those temps. I lowered the values to the ones in the vid and right now, my max temp was 78,3°C (package) and 81,5°C (CCD). I'm fine with those temps if it is fine overall, just... I'm kind of afraid I screwed up thermal paste application.
Tl;dr, I'm not used to those kinds of temperatures on a processor. Should I be worried and check how the thermal paste spread out or is it fine and should I just forget about it and stop worrying
Your score is fine ! there are people who only scored like 14400 or so - i benched one today that only scored 14320. Also your temps are fine after applying PBO settings ... after i did that the CPU still hit 83-84 °C with a beefier cooler than yours (be quiet pure rock 2). So all is good there.
I hate this processor so much. I can't enjoy any of my games because I have to constantly keep tabs on my CPU temps to make sure it doesn't blow up.
Diablo IV is the worst so far, my temps spike up to 85-92 almost every 30 seconds even though my average temperatures are around 70.

I must be very lucky, I have a 5800x with a 360mm AIO (H150i Cap Elite) and Thermal Grizzly, PBO took me to 5.95GHz but averaged to 5.8GHz and my CPU doesn’t surpass 65c, I have 10 MagLev fans in a 5000x Corsair case, SN850 as boot (gen 4) 3070ti, I did learn that B550’s with the 5800x doesn’t like 4 ram modules, with 4 in place nothing goes above 3600mhz, ASUS B550-f STRIX, so I swapped to 2 sticks at 4200mhz 2x32gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro V3, I think this CPU just requires a beefy cooler, I’ve had no issues, none at all.

This is really all about AMD beating Intel in synthetic multicore benchmarks. Using Eco Mode or dialing back PPT, TDC, and EDC will have little impact on gaming or casual PC use, and save alot of power and heat.
AMD has been doing this kind of thing for years, going back since... whenever. They sort of have to as the underdog. If they want to turn heads with high end enthuasiasts, they have to throw a bunch of raw power into the processor.
Its so stupid because most consumers dont care about benchmark scores and just wanna enjoy rendering and games in peace and quiet.
I have a question, i bought a 5800x and i have an hyper 212 evo mointed with silent wing 3 on front and arctic p12 on back(pull). I have 90 dégrée C and power package of 140W even with all négative core at 30 and just 4.570mhz. I wonder why, i know my cpu cooler is very limit but if i change my cpu cooler for a better one, Will my power package Will reduce too or i have à bigger problem ? Lol
I mostly agree, but I would use curve optimuzer and powerlimits and +0 pbo, then you get the same temp/consumption as powerlimit, but 2-300MHz higher allcore speed due to undervolt :)

I found that OC the 5600X doesn't do much so instead I UV for temps. I set the power limits to the mobo limits and use a Curve Optimizer -30 -30 -10 -7 -30 -30 with massive temp improvements and pretty much no performance penalties even in benchmarks.

In my bios the setting max cpu boost clock overdrive I can either set too disabled, enabled positive, or enabled negative. Which one should I pick?

Arctic LF2 360 (Budget) or a Corsair 360/420mm, or to be just better build a Custom Waterloop. But the 5800X is hard to have under Control when it comes to overclocking tbh.

Yep just put my 5800x build together with what I thought was a decent cooler AFII 240 and was not keen on the temps, downloaded A-Tuning from Asrock (for my mobo) and hit power saving, instantly quieter and cooler, will have to see what performance changes if any, I don't want to pull things apart again but I keep wondering if I put enough thermal paste, I always just do a small ball in the centre then squish, it's always been enough in the past, I guess paste is not the issue though if so many people having this happen? I did use the 5000 series standoffs that came with the AFII, first time using an AIO too, always had air cooling up till now, don't fancy one of those breeze blocks in my very nice looking build..
Hey buddy no you used enough thermal paste trust me. Ryzen 5000 temps are just higher. But if you change the pbo limits like he talks about you should get better thermals. You put your chip in ECO mode which limits power to 65 TDP which is like half of what it’s rated for

@@mannyfresh7065 I done it, just did a negative offset of 30 as what most people go for and system crashed shortly after start up, restarted and turned off power saving mode back to standard and fully stable, Idle down to about 41 from around 55 which I wouldn't say it's cool but is definitely better than before, it still peaks high when pushed but performance has increased at no extra penalty :)

I have something against AMD's statement that 90 degrees is fine to maintain constantly but seriously, 40-55 is absolutely nothing for this fella. Don't even be concerned in the slightest if it hits 80 to 85 under full load
@@dzudemlow I'd forgotten about this, yes it's been fine, I'd been used to much less powerful CPU's before where I'd seen temps under half of this at points but I'd also left the plastic protector on the cold plate of my AIO, I could have sworn I took it off but lol, still idles around 40+ but under load the temps are way better, I actually set it back to normal mode is it would occasionally crash with the adjusted PBO settings, I have also since learned that AIO's are no match for the better air coolers (I guess where you live also comes into it) I'm not going to take out my AIO but if I get any problems with it I will swap it out for a decent air cooler and just deal with the ugliness lol

I don’t get it I have a Lian Lii Galahad 360 and my temps with pbo enabled with co set to 30 I still hit 90c after 15-20 seconds of running all core on r23 , I sit around 50-55 idle

Could someone explain what's the difference between setting the PBO limits to manual and inputting values versus putting PBO @ disabled and just adjusting the negative values?

Thanks for this video. Sold a 3700x and ended up with a 5800x for $20 more. I was getting a 5600 non x for $3 more but didn't want to pass up the extra cores and speed for $17 more than the 5600. Now I have a toasty CPU in my HTPC case. It has descent air flow with two 120mm fans intaking next to the CPU with a single 120mm exhausting. The system also has a 1080ti with a medium duty Artic Twin Turbo II 250watt cooler. So plenty of heat in this case. I briefly just dropped in your settings you used and noticed the temps were now not hitting 90c in Cinebench23 but in the 70's with the NH-D9L SFF cooler.
My question is what advantage do I have using the manual PBO2 with those 3 areas tweaked vs simply turning the thermal limit down to like 85c? I noticed both caused the CPU to not run full load at 140ish watts. What am I losing if I simply just set a limit lower like at 85c. Won't it run full stock power / boost all the time then under stuff like games. That 85 limit only really kicking in if I run Cinebench? My thinking has my best guess that a simply lowered thermal throttle limit will keep the CPU where I want it at worst case scenarios. I guess this method doesn't reduce wattage and heat as much as it could in games. I even thought about no tweaks as I only hit the 90c under full loads which I never do on this system.
manually setting pbo on the cpu allows the cpu to consume less power which reduces heat allowing the cpu to boost longer and in most cases gives stock or sometimes even better performance at a much lower temp. setting the max temp limit to 85 degrees will make your cpu thermal throttle sooner and you will lose performance. cinibench ran my cpu at 91 C stock but with new pbo and per core curve optimizer settings i have i shaved 11 C off of cinibench and increased my score +100. in games it use to run 75 to 80 and sometimes higher now its usually 65 to 70

Well my 5800x goes up to 90 degrees with 120w limit and 30mV negative voltage curve, i got the slight feeling that my 360mm watercooler from msi is broken, and its only 5 months old

Maybe a thermal paste issue? 120 is plenty. Also, -30 all I can guarantee you will not be stable unless it's a 5800X3D. I'm running 110/70/100 and -20 all, it's a lazy config but it's been stable for 9 months, performance is better than stock and temps go up to 82 under full load which I can only manage in BF2042 or R23/P95. You might be wondering because these values are really low. But yeah, a 5800X on stock settings draws 50% more power than it needs to have lol
this cpu is bloody nuclear, absolutely sick of the high temps and I haven't been able to find a stable bios setting.

Just draws too much power that it doesn't need. I can't advise blindly putting in values of other 5800X users but if you are lazy and want to try, I got 110/70/100 with all negative 20. Been stable for 9 months, reaches 82 max only in BF2042 or R23/P95 despite the fact these values are really low.
yeah with these settings I've found it runs a bit cooler, going to upgrade to a noctua at some point and get a new case for better air flow, should help a lot. I'm not willing to experiment with bios anymore to risky tbh

I recently got a new 240mm aio and a ryzen 7 5800x, my temps in bios are 47-55 degrees celsius and in games like fortnite they’re around 63-74 degrees celsius on low settings. Do you think my pump is faulty or is it normal for this CPU?

this is exactly with ryzen 3000. my 3700X came with 1.5volts at stock.. i undervolted it to 1.25V at 4.2ghz and it's super cool...

I was always team blue and was also planning to upgrade to intel 12th gen. until a friend of mine offered me a good deal for a 5800x that he had in stock. I was hesitant but as a student im quite short on money and my i7 6700k badly needed an upgrade. I installed everything and everything seemed fine until i hit 60°C while just browsing and 82°C while playing games i was kind of scared. My PC is in a room where the Window is usually open and in Winter my i7 was around 30°C and maybe 65° while playing games. I was so scared that i had made a mistake and after i played around with the settings a bit i was shocked. I'm idleing at 40°C and 68°C while playing. Performance is still the same. WTH is going on at AMD, how is this a thing
You should have bought the 5700x if temperatures were a concern and underclocking a plan... the 5700x is a lower clocked version of the 5800x... it makes no sense to underclock or undervolt a 5800x... get a good cooling solution. a Double tower air cooler will do fine. My 5800x goes 71 Celsius under full load (10 minutes DaVinci Resolve rendering)... which is very fine (71c)
One thing I've noticed is that AM4 motherboards fire out a huge default voltage.
my old B550-F gaming and my current crosshair VIII hero board both tried shove 1.4v into my CPU by default...
after adjusting cpu voltage to 1.2v even with pbo on and a max boost of 5.05ghz my 5800x hits 40 watt's on average at idle, a max wattage of 58 watts (still idle)
idle temps are fluctuating between 34c and 50c on the cores but average out to about 42c
The AIO I'm using is a 360mm from asus, pump is at 100%
During gaming the chip never hit above 53c on the cores and wattage never went past 72 watts on the package, this was of course for a 10 minute session in GTA V to test some high poly models and code
anyway yeah AMD board manufacturers need to stop shipping boards with high default voltages set.... it's annoying
quick edit: the cpu during gaming hit 4.95 ghz all core, but idle/ light work it's 5.05ghz and that one time some cores hit 5.1ghz
How did you achieve that?? Ive been using eco95w mode and noticed temps were better than stock settings but i want to get the most performance i can with lowest vcore so temps can be lowest possible with highest performance
@@peterc504 I've got precision boost overdrive enabled with a boost of 300mhz, flck is also set to 1900mhz (anything higher and my system lags heavily ) and my CPU voltage is set to 1.2v

At idle/ web browsing/Plex encoding I'm hitting anywhere between 5.05 to 5.1ghz all core max (5.1ghz is rare and the cooler isn't designed for chiplet Ryzen)
And a minimum of 2.9ghz (surprisingly)
Gaming is a mix of 4.99ghz and 5.05ghz ( it heavily varies)
@@GTArajgaming you have your voltage set to 1.2 all times? I thought it's better to let the mobo adjust accordingly? I just set sum pbo of 115 80 90 with override 200mhz curve op10 all cores. Seems to run alot cooler than stock values and boosts to 5050hz. With stock values I was seeing 80s spikes but with above values it stays mostly 60s to low 70 spikes. Only weird thing I noticed is in Ryzen master it shows my pbo and boost override values but says curve optimizer is off? I did notice in bios there are two areas where you can adjust pbo values but only one place where you can add curve optimizer

I got a ryzen 7 5800x without knowing that it runs hot, and I've found out my gaming case can't house a 240mm AIO. I have a 120mm AIO currently in my case so I'm not sure what to do.
Why do you just buy parts without having sufficient knowledge though? A 360mm is barely enough for a 5800X at stock settings. It draws unnecessarily much power. You can get it to max out at about 82-85 degrees with just a 120mm if you undervolt it and use low PBO2 values while maintaining at least stock performance and probably even a little more.
Is 69C for the cpu very hot?
I thought 60C avg is normal and you shouldn’t have any performance disadvantages
69°C is pretty good for the 5800X!
