    Make your AMD ryzen 5000 series CPU FASTER QUIETER & COOLER With Curve Optimiser.
    Your results may vary - and don't run it on the hottest day of the year!
    Getting more for less is a rare thing these days, so getting more performance with less heat or energy is a pretty good proposition!
    Today we are looking at the hottest day on record (In the UK) and trying to maybe reduce temps in the PC and not lose performance. So we install AMD Ryzen Master software
    www.amd.com/en/technologies/r...
    and use the curve optimiser to automatically try and dial in some more tailored settings for our combination or motherboard, cooler and processor.
    YOU MAY NEED TO RUN THIS A FEW TIMES!
    As we see in the video, the results in the recording were actually WORSE than our previous settings, so if at first the settings don't seem that great, try running it again. Some background tasks and other things like ambient temps and even humidity can have an effect on the results.
    Overall though with the settings i have had it kept the mighty 5800x under control and with lower temps means lower fans speeds and we also were in an undervolted situation so in regular windows tasks we are saving energy and therefore a small saving in the monthly bills!

    great and informative test. One thing to note, is that the number in the Curve Optimizer setting is not the raw milivolt number, but rather a kind of multiplier, where 1 count equals 3-5 mV. so when it shows -27 you're actually offsetting the voltage by 81-135 mV, hence the massive difference in temperatures.

    • @amcdonald7479
      @amcdonald7479 Год назад +1

      Thats interesting thanks for the info friend. My offset on a little ryzen 5600 came out -30. The results on cinebench are just over 12k multi now. Ive gained over 300 points. I also run at least 9-10 Oc cooler under load than before. Isnt -30 a bit high though? I ran the test twice to be sure and first was same. I got that offset while running pbo +200 and it sits at 4.645ghz ish and barely moves.

    Interesting. I did mine via the bios and testing with a little utility called CoreCycler (which uses prime95), I'll check out Ryzen Master as that looks like a quick way to get to a decent point without rebooting after each change. OCCT also will test for such errors, but I have found CoreCycler the best at finding more infrequent issues. So if your undervolt has some instability I would check it out. My own 5800x is a bit all over the place with individual core undervolts between 0 and -30 and it took a lot of testing to dial it in, even then it only supports a +50Hz clock increase as to go higher means even less undervolt, and I want more all core boost than single core Hz.
    PS. My 5800x can get 16k in Cinibench R23, so you probably have more to go (or are running other stuff in the background) - oh it could be temps and mine was probably on a cold day.

    • @mikesunboxing

      mine is under performing for sure and still gets quite warm. but i keep on changing settings and the weather goes from one extreme to another

    • @surfx4804
      @surfx4804 Год назад

      @Juri V It was totally fine and I ran it like that for well over a year as I got the CPU in April 2021. You have to put the work in the testing and back off when any error. I found other testing methods did not spot errors that Corecycler could with an overnight run. So, before I used that then yea, I found some instability when testing with OCCT.
      I now have a 5800x3d that I undervolt using a tool called "PBO2 Tuner" and get -30 on all cores and rock solid so far. The CPU runs at 4.45GHz all cores under full load. I did this as I managed to get a 4090 GPU but want to wait for AM5 CPUs to settle down and prices to fall on motherboards etc.. or see what 14th gen Intel is like.

    • @surfx4804
      @surfx4804 Год назад

      @Juri V The only slight risk if you don't push it too far is if the PC crashes and windows gets some corruption. Generally, you take the undervolts a little at a time so you can find small errors rather than crash. I am not sure what Ryzen Master is suggesting so can't advise on that.
      Also the 5800x will always run hot and spike in temps even if you just think of running something. What you are really concerned with is temps under load that then mean the CPU does not boost as much.

      @@DieTabbi I did a reply but it does not seem to have posted> Anyhow there are a couple of youtube vids out there you can see people using it.
      In a nutshell see the readme.txt, and you need to edit the config.ini file.
      There are really only two settings to make in the ini file:
      1 - "runtimePerCore" use 1m for quick checks then when all seems fine go to 3m and for an overnight set of runs try 6m
      2 - "coresToIgnore" use this to ignore cores you know are fine, it helps when just sorting out the cores that are failing by reducing test times

    great video, thanks for it. I would like to ask what cooler you use for the r7 5800x in this test? Also how you got the power of the package be only max 110w without changing it in PBO? In default when I run cinebench r24 it will run on my r7 5800x 142w on package and temps go to 85C. I got it little byt down but need to do curve opt per core (got only -25 for all except primiry and secondary core, this needs to go down to -15 for now) and also needed to adjust PPT to 115w TDC to 90A and EDC to 100A to get lower temps. but still hit 80C. also without the limit of PPT the CPU always took 142w on package when running cinebench r23 ( multi core test). also with this setup I got only 4,4 GHz on all core in CBR23 in multicore test. thank you

I just ran Cinebench R23 Multi-Core for 10 minutes on my manual overclocked 3900X and got a score of 18517 with a max CPU temp of 72c. Then I ran Cinebench R23 Multi-Core for 10 minutes with Ryzen Master's Auto OC and received a score of 18603 with a max CPU temp of 76c. 86 points isn't worth the extra 4c in my opinion.

    I'm having issues with my 7600x on the X670E Steel Legend, with bios update 1.24. Windows 11 - 21996.1
    I have a 280mm AIO, Liquid Freezer II Rev 3, and I have ensured 3 times that its functioning properly and is more than adequate cooling. BUT still no matter what, it cant get the temps down the same as what would usually be expected with these specs, and thus its thermal throttling and hitting max temps (95c).
    I'm getting around 12200 - 12400 in cinebench r23, when the expected result stock, even with a shitty air cooler should be in the range of 14k+ bench result.
    I've got this niggling feeling that its something to do with the bios, but I wouldn't know, because when I first set the PC up 3 days ago, I updated the bios with USB before I even installed windows.
    I really want minimal risks with installing BIOS updates, or roll backs for that matter, but I'm still wondering, does anybody else have this issue, or have had issues with low stock benchmarks on my board, and whether or not its worth rolling back my BIOS and if so, to which one.

      it works on the principle that one of the trigger points for frequency throttling is the thermal sensor, less voltage means less heat generated so in theory higher boost clocks and maintained longer.
      all chips are slightly different so some react better or worse depending on the quality of the chip
