As a kid who did get a participation trophy in elementary school soccer, I feel like I have to clear the air: we didn't LIKE getting the participation trophy. I worked in a grocery store a while ago and I was told to train this new guy one day. He came off as like, a mega redditor type kid. I tried to get him to open up with me about himself so I asked what kind of music he liked and the first thing he said was "you probably haven't heard of him but this guy named Tom MacDonald" and I thought he was joking so I started laughing really hard just to look over and see him with an entirely straight face.
Later that day I told him my brother has cerebral palsy to which he replied "I have an unpopular opinion. I think we should put disabled people into labor camps." So yeah, exactly what you'd expect from a Tom MacDonald fan.
