      I have three reservations:
      1. You are willing to accept English which is a foreign language than any of the Indian Language. bravo what a solution. Also do you think all the villagers of south where banks post offices are situated will understand English. We also face even being a Hindi speaking challenge while travelling . In our villages we have South Indian people posted who doesn’t speak their native language and tuti footi Hindi but we do not ask them to leave or learn Maithili, bhojpuri Bengali etc.
      2. Madam for North India even Hindi is not a native language to all the states and people around. However Hindi has been originated from the same root from which languages like Bengali Nepali Punjabi Merathi have their roots so for all the native North Indians it is easy to understand and speak Hindi. Comparatively South Indian languages have originated from different roots and south India also have several languages hence we cannot even if we want to learn and speak these languages. But supposedly you people are actually opposing Hindi for sake of opposing only. If you dig into origination of Hindi it was not even a native language of any of the North Indian states it have been developed in course of time for having a common language.
      3. Do you really think that bank and civil servants will be posted only in Kanndda/tamil/Telugu speaking area they will not be transferred to other places. What if a person speaking Kannada only transferred to malyali speaking area. Your culture will not get hamper ? How he will manage to communicate. On top of that even southern states have many languages apart from these 4 languages and have several dialects.
Madam the problem will remain and will be managed the way it has been managed till now. diminishing languages is a problem and it is there in North as well for which we should take some measures but the way you people are reacting is not going to solve anything this is called Ego.

I would like to share a recent incident that occurred at the Kolkata metro in this context. A Hindi speaker, female (probably a visitor here), accused a Bengali woman of being 'Bangladeshi' for speaking Bengali in West Bengal. According to her, Hindi is the national language, and if you are in India, you have to only speak in Hindi. I don't know whether I should call her dumb or be angry for this audacity. Bengali is literally the 2nd spoken language after Hindi and an official language, including other 22 languages like Hindi and other Devnagari and Dravidian languages. How dare these people question someone's nationality when they don't have basic knowledge about their own country? These so-called native Hindi people intigrate Urdu words in their sentences and struggle to speak in pure Hindi too often. As per this absurd logic, should we call them pakistani? as Urdu and Hindi are widely spoken in Pakistan. That doesn't sound right, no?
I think we Bengalis are too generous; we never create an issue for people from other states speaking in the language they are comfortable with. I could never imagine this kind of incident happening in Bengaluru or another south region. I think we should be more loud and open enough as much as them.
I'm not one of those people who divide languages based on religion. Hindi and Urdu are both Hindustani languages that originated in the Indian subcontinent and share similar roots and young languages. I don't hate either of these languages; anyone can speak any language based on their region, historical base, or community instead of their religion. But imposing Hindi forcefully might be alerting for these Hindi-speaking states too, because their native languages might become endangered, which are old and contain more historical values. This is my personal opinion, though.

As a Tamizhalan we have been fighting against Hindi Imposition many decades now, slowly other non-Hindi speaking states are waking upto. We have been fighting against NEET hope other states don't take decades to understand and start supporting us.
When I joined Indian Air Force in the 90's I had limited knowledge of Hindi and many often I get comments that I'm unpatriotic when in reality I was giving prime of my age serving in the military while most of my college mates were happily getting their Green cards in US.
While in Air Force academy I was chatting with my batchmate and he said during the interview he informed them he has difficulty in English so will reply in Hindi this made me think how the system has been rigged against Non-Hindi speaking states, to me learning Hindi would be same as learning English but I don't have the choice of responding in Tamil. How many would have lost their opportunity because of this.

This is what utter ignorance is. If you get a job in Mumbai, by your logic you should learn Marathi, not Hindi. The era of the permanent private job location is gone. In your 35 years of professional life you don't know how many locations you have to change. 25 Northern states use Hindi as common while 4 southern states use English as a common language. Yes, Hindi native speakers will get an advantage, but isn't it the same with English as well?
Look, no issue in learning an additional southern language, but language should be common to all 4 southern states. Make it happen and ten complain.
