Kannada is the official language of Karnataka and English is global language. First it is written in Official language and second in Global language. First of all who told you to put Hindi there..? I am from Bangalore, my wife is from Delhi, and living in Bangalore, I learned to speak in Hindi when I lived in Delhi, I ask her to learn kannada when we are planning to live our rest of the life in Bangalore. If she learns kannada it will be easy for her to get around.

In Karnataka we want Kannada-English. Not Hindi where it has no own script as using Devanagari Lipi, and can't be National Language which born with Urdu by Arabs / Persians if I am not wrong. Kannada has its own history & furture if allowed to use as State Official Language by Govt. Also has its own script used for Koduva-Tulu-Konkani including Sanskrit being spoken as Mother Tangue in State itself but has no own lipi's to write. And English is very commonly used International Language to communicate with other States & Foreign Countries too, as it didn't killed our State Languages, instead helped to learn.
Best thing is to have a qr code, which we can scan and read in whichever language we want to, be it Kannada in Delhi, or Punjabi in Bengaluru
On a currency note, there are so many languages. Then let Delhi metro have notifications in all the scheduled languages of India.

Ill tell you the reason?. On new years eve me and my friends went to outdoor party with tents and campfire. Me and my friends went way ahead to fireplace and sat close at very safe distance. Then at the last moment these gangs of delhi people came, put chairs in front of us and started scream delhi walho ek baar awaaj shuru karo something. I was okay with that but not okay with them covering my view and occupying infront of us after coming late. Then i started to speak them in hindi at first and then i started in english it was easy for me. Then he was like first hindi me bath kar, pehle hindi dang se seekho phir bath kar vo hamari rashtra basha hai. I wonder if they all have this in thier mind.

1. You go to Delhi,noida , or north part of India for tour and travel and expect Government will put boards in your language . Why they will put boards in your language ? If you are not working there , not living there? Not living in thousands or lakhs of population, then why government will put boards in your language ????

Other state people come to Karnataka and live here , work here and contribute here and they are invited because majority of IT companies founders hire non Kannadigas and employ them here , no one feels good leaving their state and come to some other state . So, if lakhs of outside people come here (not by will but they are placed here ) then why you are hating them , making their live difficult.
3. No one is imposing Hindi, the reality is kannada is being imposed on non Kannadigas.

In Gujarat you will never see such a sick debate over Gujarati vs Hindi. Everyone is comfortable to read both the languages as well as communicate.

But if you were to open a business and write kannada on your boards. We would have no problem. But we all know what happens to Hindi boards in bengaluru. Problem is not learning or respecting south Indian language. Problem is you should make one south Indian language compulsory for north Indians in schools because expecting a middle aged man to learn a new language is insane. He has got obligations.

Is because we have hindi language from 1st standard, which north indians dont have at all. Trust me, the every other second human in bangalore knows hindi at least a bit, but not a single guy knows kannada in north, its same with all languages like tamil, telugu, marathi, malayalam bengali etc. we go north and try to communicate in hindi, they come here and try to communicate in hindi only, so please have a bit of respect on other states everybody. We respect your language and your state, and we expect the same if you want to be in other states. U just try to speak in kannada in karnataka little bit, thats enough for us to assume u r atleast interested or trying. We dont hate any of the people who come from outside of this state, we love you all with open arms to wellcome you all, but only if u have a little bit of respect towrds us.

Ahh dude every spoke with south Indians? Most of my kannadiga frnds speak atleast 4 languages n some even 6. N a frnd of mine frm Pune whose father is here for the past 11 years in Bengaluru and cant speak kannada while our tamil n Malayalam frnds here starts to speak kannada in just a few months.

Even though I am a Bengali I can fluently speak Hindi and can understand and roughly speak Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, bhojpuri , Maithili. You know why because all these languages have the same root. You can ask a tamilian to speak in Punjabi and I will see, in how many years he learns it. So don't judge.
Hindi is not the 1 language of most of the people from the northern part of india, nobody speaks hindi perfectly here bcz it's not there mother tongue but we try to come to a comment ground that we have a bit in common, I am a bengoli and my friend is bihari, but we use Assamese language to communicate bcz we are born and brought up here so we know the language quite well but its not our mother tongue but still a Assamese person will speak Assamese more better then us bcz its his mother tongue and our hindi too is not so perfect but we can't expect sometime who recently came or travelling to our side of the country to be fluent in our local language or know our local properly the part of the country which they stay have a different language of there own. So when we communicate we communicate in hindi mostly as English is not known to everyone ( we communicate with broken Hindi) we make things work. Not just making drama. And hindi is a easy language to grab compared to most of the language. No one can learn a language fully after growing up it becomes more hard.And listen I had so many friends from southern part of india in College their English was much better then us but they didn't know hindi but we both tried our best I talked with him in English most of the time and he sometimes sayed few words in hindi we never complained. And to the person in the interview 22 language in the eighth schedule, do you really think it is possible to learn? Like the English is a common language, so same with hindi ( mass language) as its easier to develop compared to others. A person staying in Karnataka for say 3/4 years or less he will not be able to pick up the language like the person who is born there he might gradually learn but never can learn fully. So stop this division bullish and I used person from southern part of india and northern part of india bcz the southindian / northindian bullshit is going to destroy our country. And the irony English is a foreign language but no problem to that but keep fighting between our own language. Wanted to say so many things more but leave it and to the uncle and aunties you are the main reason for the division of our society you people are so moral less. Mostly in Bengal almost everyone can understand Hindi, even speak Hindi. And there is a plethora of Hindi speaking populations living in West Bengal for centuries and they were never forced to learn Bengali. Also if you ever go to Kolkata metro, or Victoria Memorial you will see signboards written in Hindi. Just visit Burrabazar people speak more Hindi than Bengali. Marwaris, Punjabis, Biharis, Gujratis all have made Kolkata their home and you are saying west bengal is a 2 language state

Did you see Neeta ambani and her children? They can clearly speak, read and write marathi. Though their mother tongue is gujarati, not hindi. Same with marwari. Same in burrabazar. You don't need to take care of them. Majority in kolkata and this state is bengali. This state was made on the basis of language. And bengali should be compulsory here. Preserving the language here is mandatory. You just don't take care of vote bank of tmc or bjp or bla bla

They teach the kids to speak English before they can speak in their own mother tongue. First opportunity they get they leave the country and you expect such people to preserve culture.
