Im a working guitarist. Like most, Im always chasing tone. Im on the fence with this amp, all different genres and styles our band plays keeps me dragging 3 amps and 5 guitars on stage. I think this amp could make the stage cut! Could maybe make the studio after hearing your video. Gonna go play it one more time and make up my mind. Love the video!
+Gareth Hill Cheers man! Yeh I totally agree, especially the 30, yours was one of the few vids that was up when I got mine. I got this one on a whim for such a good deal that I couldn't leave it but it's turned out to be such a good amp little amp and really flexible!
Great demo, but really hard to get the dynamics and character of the amp, when the master is so low. Nice to know those tones are available at low volumes though.
im thinking about one of these in a combo i can get,it dont have different settings on the back for different things 1 watt,or 5 watts etc....but would be around 600 bucks..i see on the floor part of a jet city cab it looks like..what amp did you go to,an why in the world, this is killer sound, o well....
I’ve had loads of amps since this to be honest. I liked this amp a lot but I prefer an amp that does one thing really well. This did a lot of things pretty well. I didn’t really bond with the overdrive tones as much as other amps. It’s not that it didn’t sound great, it just didn’t work for me.
not crazy about les pauls, but man this sounds great, what cab are you using,or speaker etc...my engl many years ago was harsh,an would kill you an trebly, the first blackmore signature 100 watt in the u s a back in 1998..we just couldnt get the hang of it, see,...calgaz77...gary chambers, he does good blackmore, and engl stuff..
why all making this stupid question for any low wattage amp???all tube amps are loud enough to play with drums, all you need is to set the gain lower and crank the volume up.you will take your gain by the power tubes
i had to use my vintage greenback marshall can with my blackmore head, the engl 4...12 with vintage 30,s was harsh, we just never could make it work back in 1998,mine came from germany,to east coast musick in new york, warren haynes has been using engl cabs as long as me..
i had a weird ass woman block me over asking about the gigmaster 30, very strange,an i still have no clue what i did or said...this is a good mixture of best fender,an best plexi sort of...
how did you recorded it? Great video, a lot of music styles. I only felt the need for more metal riffs in there. You also covered almost everything. Thanks
again i play only strats, but you got best undescribable les paul sound on youtube, like very old zz top etc..i seen them when billy gibbons played marshalls an was fast an wild in early an mid 70,s...
what speaker cab etc are you using, and is this amp head etc for sale,im near atlanta,an found a combo gigmaster 30 used etc...im near 666 an allways played marshall plexis an others an fenders, peavy etc, classic blues rock,an hard rock,i hate metal an shred etc..but man you got some great tones, possibly some of best on youtube no matter what kinda amp, what all are you using, just amp,an footswitch i hope...
This was a very long time ago but I think it was a Peavey Classic Cab with the stick Sheffield speaker. The Sheffield is pretty similar in voice to a Greenback. There is a chance it was a Jet City 2x12 with Creamback 65’s but pretty sure it was the Peavey. No pedals, just the amp 👍
Hey bro! I just recently purchased the GigMaster 30 head and since I'm a tube noob- wondering how to direct record into my interface. Is "line out' where I should run a 1/4 inch cable from the head to the interface? Or is mic'ing my cab the best option. I record in my apartment and was wondering which way is the correct way. Thank you so much!
+Raul Torres Hey bud, congrats on the new amp! Mic'ing the cab is would get my vote in that situation. Even if you use the line out you would need a speaker cab connected, so the volume would still be there anyway. I'm sure you know already but never operate a valve amp without a speaker cab connected. The line out also does not have any kind of speaker emulation so it will sound fizzy and nasty unless you process it in your computer using an impulse response or similar. Let me know if you need any more help man. All the best.
This amp is long gone. I would say that it was a little on the darker side but I actually prefer darker amps. I imagine you could get more brightness from it than I did in this video.
Xavofthedead Just guitar right into the front end of the amp and then into a Peavey classic 1x12 cab with a Peavey Sheffield speaker which is essentially a high powered Greenback clone.
Very impressive playing... thinking about getting this amp, Is it good for gigging? Also, some say that ENGL amps don't cut through the mix, did you find it to be true?
Definitely not the case for this particular amp. I found it cut through the mix great! Especially if you engaged the mid boost and master boost for solos. I sold this to a friend of mine that plays in a blues/rock band and it's now his main amp.
That rumour is possibly based on the old Powerball model, but more likely it's about metal players not being able to dial in a cutting tone. It's easy to fall overly in love with the fat, tight bottom end and neglect other frequency areas.
i know the distortion on engl is kinda different, its hard to beat say a 1987x,or maybe jtm 45 on distortion, since deep purple an blackmore was an is my all time favourite, his modded marshall majors were number one best sound to me,an when he switched to engl, they were tight, but great too, cause its ritchie..i have the rockpalast 1995 video,an he was using engl savage 120 amps...tight,an maybe not fat or as warm as marshall, but still great..
The input gain works on both channels. If you boost that with high gain settings and the gain boost you shouldn’t need an external pedal unless you wanted to.
HOW LONG AGO DID YOU HAVE YOURS IF YOU DONT MIND, HOW MUCH DID YOU SELL IT FOR,I FOUND ONE FOR 965 TAX AN SHIPPING, PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE SOUND ON RUclips ETC.. MAYBE NOT AS RICH AN LOUD/ WARM AS A PLEXI 1987X ETC, BUT MAN, ABOUT HALF THE PRICE OR LESS,THERE OUTRAGEOUS PRICY..LET ME KNOW IF YOU DONT CARE..
Love Engl amps even though I'm not a high gain player! Not sure how I feel about this amp though :/ your guitar playing is lush though, great licks man!
Appreciate that mate, thanks! I have to agree, it's a great amp, especially for the money and given the included features but the amp it wasn't for me personally. I moved it on some time ago.
fender amps are so soft an warm an deep, like srv tone is good, but not enough attack like ritchies tone..i would play fenders,an as pretty as they are, my dang pick would be bent in the middle...
so 800.00 dolars here would be around 500 pounds there i guess..damn...they want 799.00 if i was there in new mexica to get it,but im a couple thousand miles away near atlanta,ga.....
you must not be in the u s a, they want 965.00 american dollars with taxes an shipping,i had heard that marshall was cheaper over there, but damn, if yours would be a little over 400.00 american dollars this would be very pricy for me, did you mean euro,s or what, where are you on this planet, thanx
i have no clue unless thats british pounds,an i still have no clue...so if so yours would have been about 400 pounds which is however much..in u s a dollars..my blackmore head cost me about 1200.00 american dollars way back in 1998,an they gave me a good deal, though i never could figure it out, a bit different than plexi,s an fenders an peavys etc...
You’re welcome! Who says people can’t use an amp for blues!? Richie Blackmore has a signature ENGL head.. as does Steve Morse.. Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy uses ENGL.. All these guys play blues and classic rock. If you actually watched the video you would see that I covered many styles throughout the video so anyone looking to buy one has an idea of how it would suit their style. Thanks for taking the time to comment and anyone wanting to watch a demo of how this amp is ‘supposed’ to be played can watch the video that you made for free, in your own time... oh wait 😂
If you're good enough you can play anything on any amp.! That's a true test of skill and the guy in this video could probably make a Carlsboro sound great.! Wait maybe hold the Carlsboro..🤔 but nonetheless great video and playing..🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@Rikk_Klaww777 he has the best les paul sound on youtube expecially first few licks etc, am sick of muddy les pauls an same tone with plexis etc,an strat sound is beautiful, like country rock an srv,an skynyrds steve gaines from long ago..ed kings first few spanking notes on sweet home alabama..etc...your very good, experienced etc..you got plexi,an other marshall,an fender an peavy clean all from a german amp, we used to have a couple kitty hawks,an played them all around atlanta clubs very spanky sound, made in germany an austria,an related to the,...dumble amps...
Wow....the strat on the clean channel is spectacular! Well done, Dan!
one of best clean videos on youtube, sounds like a great clean fender......incredible...
Thank you 👍
but you still got one of best videos, especially the strat thru the engl.

Really good video mate! Nicely detailed! It's a shame there's not much on RUclips about the Gigmaster(s), really good amp.

LP lead: I love your riffs!
Thanks man, really appreciate that. I always try and come up with stuff that shows off the sound in the best way, so I'm glad it's working! :)
great demo i want one
Amazing playing mate! made me want to buy one. ;)
Cheers man! Did you end up picking one up?
Thanks for this video, I'm planning on buying a low wattage amp 15-30 (max 50) but there are so many choices i'm kinda lost haha.

I dig the strat clean and OD but the les Paul through it sounds nasally blanket like covered on a speaker , strangely .Cool playing .
Is this loud enough to play over drums?
Yes

Is it too loud for the bedroom? Currently I have a modded Fender BJ and I keep it at about 5 volume 6 master.

Pretty sure it was a 2x12 with a Vintage 30 and a Creamback 65
@@DanLeggatt o.k thanks Dan, I have a super 65 in the 30 combo, looking for one more 12", both of those I like.
