I have one laying around waiting to be modded. You are right about needing a depth and presence knob. It also needs a higher headroom preamp tube. The standard 12AX7 will compress to soon and gives a muddy gain structure.

Kinda close actually but it can be also because of the cabinet which is a Mesa Recto 412.
