Been 10 years since I saw this concluded. Still gets me right in the feels.
I remember the surprise of suddenly seeing Step 2 appear (and the flash didn't run too well on my crummy computer at the time).
Then we had to wait three whole years for step 3. But then suddenly we got 3, 4 and 5 within six months. But hoo boy that three month wait between step 4 and 5 was agony.
I cry every time. Like a weak baby. I would hate to be any other way.

Well I already watch it a few weeks ago for the first time.
I watched these in newgrounds, when i discovered it 'Paradise' hadnt even released. I never watched these youtube reuploads because I had the flash versions and i think they had subtitles, so assume my surprise when youtube reccomends me these again, i go watch it and realize that theyre DIFFERENT, several things changed to make them BETTER. I DIS NOT REALIZE THIS FOR OVER 6 YEARS BUT IM NOW HERE FOR IT!!! Thank you for giving teenager me something to look foward to and for giving adult me something to rediscover. Even thought it was totally my faulth 💖

At 20:00 minutes; the last thing you'll then see is Nabi being chased by the crowd, as he tries to get to Doki's home ... and Doki has already left for the airport. - That doesn't sound like the greatest point for it to end for you.

I love the fact that at first it just seems like a somewhat cute comedy story. But little by little it gets deeper and deeper until at the end you feel satisfaction to see them together.

The quote is a bit odd too ... it might be incorrectly translated, or there's something more implied by the Korean text. But the quote is the opposite to what the show tries to tell.
- The world has to change, and allow interracial relationships, so he can be with his true lover. - But the way way the quote starts with "I thought that", implies that everything else don't have to happen. Meaning, if the world won't change, we can still reach happiness. That the world doesn't have to change.
Maybe a better English translation would be "My belief is that,".

I always get goosebumps when the "hate/love" sign at the end starts disintegrating when he hugs her, because he finally realizes that is not about what other's think about their union: if they love each other is more than enough.
Also that effect is gorgeous
Funny enough this sign effect is reversed in the Another Step episode, here it starts as the Hate sign then starts fluturating with the love sign before it gets erased when Doki and Nabi both embrace and drown out the voices of both sides. In another step it starts as the Love sign when Il-ho, Sam-ho and Pi storm Yi-ho and the love extremist main base, it flucturates when the locked up hate protestors get freed and then it's erased when both sides stop fighting and work together to save Il-ho.
Step 4 will just happen all over again only much worse.
What's deep about this is that she loves animals and every animal she takes care of and rescues, she places them a green scarf. If you notice after the hedgehog's death, she dumps the ashes onto the tree, and ties its scarf onto the branch. That tree with the many scarfs that Nabi finds, is the tree with the scarves of all the animals she (Doki) lost. That drove me to tears. Very very deep.
I’d argue against it being deep but yes very sad.
To think of how many animals she’s seen die at such a young age makes it even worse

It’s actually based on a common tradition in Korea where people tie ribbons to trees as a way of making a wish. The multiple ribbons are a sign that Doki is not the only one wishing for peace.
EDIT: I just read the book a little while ago, and it turns out that we're both right.
I remember watching this as a kid. I would have to sneak through my parents' room while they were sleeping. Oddly, I never woke them up. I was a sneaky little bastard. Besides the point. Seeing this on newgrounds, one of the few innocent things I can remember running into. I fell in love with it. It's been years. Out of nowhere, the first song just comes to my head today. Here I am. Still loving it.
Wow, I also fel in love with this years ago, and yesterday at bedtime the first song also just came into my head! Took a while, but I just found it here again this morning now. So greatfull! Maybe it's a piece of magic that sticks inside your mind and pops up when you need it? :D
All I remember from newgrounds is this, and the lady getting eaten by a escalator.

My wife was watching a K-drama on Netflix when a song came up there and my brain got triggered almost immediately, a memory of a cat and a bunny. Then it all slowly comeback to me and I ended up finding this compilation!
I remember watching this when I was 15 in Newgrounds, now I’m 35 and this made me tear up triggering a bunch of memories from simpler times.
I think this is a fantastic animation that is still great by todays standards! And a beautiful message!

Which, honestly... I find it *extremely* depressing, but makes the ribbon tree scene much stronger afterwards.

So glad to see this series survives on RUclips. It's been a while since I last thought of There She Is!! and with Flash officially dead now I was worried about it. This little series of videos helped me persevere in my darkest years, and I would've been devastated if it was erased from the Internet. 💖
The newgrounds interactive versions are still around. They have embedded a emulater called "Ruffle" onto the original versions, so they're still accessable.
They were crowdfunding to get a sixth episode. Still in the works as of last month
Why the need for episode 6? I thought it wrapped up nicely.

AFAIK, the next one isn't an "episode 6." It's a different but related story with the same or similar themes, set in the same place and it will feature some of the minor characters in this series as its main characters.

Just a few days ago, I showed my friend this for the first time. We all grew up with NG, but he had somehow missed it. I told him I only had one issue with the HD remakes, and now it's all perfect. I don't know why, but that "but she..." hits me like a truck every time. Glad it's back.

My wife is Korean and I met her while teaching over there. I definitely remember the occasional glares, especially from older people. This hits home. Then we moved back to the States and the hate crimes spiked. So it hits home again.
Geez, that's really tough! I'm sorry to hear. What region in the States are you from? I'm guessing not California or other blue states? Though Asian/interracial hate crimes still happen in small pockets of all states.

@@albertbecerra Well, hate crimes against Asians are obviously more likely to occur in the areas that have larger Asian populations. Which tend to be coastal states or hub cities like Chicago. Yeah, most of which tend to be blue states or regions.
I would argue, to both of you, that where these hate crimes occur likely has very little to do with the voting habits of the regions it occurs or the person committing the act. Correlation does not equal causation. I can definitely tell you that I don't care about either.

I honestly forgot about this for the longest time having first watched it maybe more than 10 years ago. It hit me then but now being in my own interracial relationship and losing friends and family along the way it really is powerful. I'm glad we stuck it out like doki and Nabi 💕

I wish I had more than "This message is so important!" but I'm at a loss. The characters are easy to know and follow, theres hardly a language barrier, and the whole of it all applies to many groups of people. I hope more people can find this animation in the future ❤
