Tarheel fan for life but hats off to Coach K's kids bc they played their hearts out, it was a back and forth game down to the wire! Huge accomplishment for both teams. I was on the edge of my seat the entire game and I had knots in my stomach all day so I can't imagine the pressure they all felt! Coach Davis is one hell of a coach and they earned that win bc it was a dog fight! Davis carried the majority of the first half and Love finished strong 💪🏾💯👏
With you on all of it. Alltime classic. As long as Davis can recruit like Roy Williams he's all set. As a UConn fan I watched Kevin Ollie win with Jim Calhoun's players, then fail to recruit. He was out in short order. I have a sense that won't happen here. But that would be my only caution.

So what? What team doesn’t play their hearts out at this stage of the tournament?
Of late it has been pointed out that the Duke players had to watch the Carolina team celebrating in front of the UNC student section immediately after the game and I personally understand they probably didn't want to wait for the Tar Heels to end their celebration and line up to exchange handshakes left and so left for their locker room save but for Wendell Moore Jr. who was a high school teammate and childhood friend of Leaky Black. In retrospect, I suspect they probably didn't wish to feel any more humiliated than they already felt having gotten whipped by the Tar Heels twice four weeks apart not only the final game of the year in Cameron Indoor Stadium but Mike Krzyzewski's last home game in there ever. And now to top that off whipping him in the Final Four against a rookie coach who played against him while at UNC and it being Krzyzewski's last coaching job ever. It gives North Carolina two points of one-upmanship for all eternity. That's almost a godlike status here in North Cacalacki where we love college basketball. Since Duke became a really good basketball program they've always have had an arrogance about it many in the state feels is pre-eminent in that elite private institution whose student body lacks too few local students and so is peopled by many rich students from outside the state.
Lots of local students are from the state in that Carolina is a public institution that is less expensive albeit it is a well-respected university and beloved by the vast majority of North Carolinians. Duke has a lot of fans I'm sure, but many are bandwagon fans. North Carolina fans have always been there mostly since they won the National Championship in 1957 when I was eight years old. Even then I knew they were undefeated and almost mostly a team of New Yorkers eager to come down south to play for the charismatic New Yorker Frank McGuire. They went on to win in triple OT against a supreme Michigan State team and after that did the same thing to the Wilt Chamberlain-led Kansas team in Kansas City, MO. almost a home venue for the Jayhawks. Chamberlain said that defeat always labeled him a loser. This team has forever played itself into the pantheon of great Carolina basketball teams. Beyond the national title games in 1957, 19'82, 1993, 2005, 2009, 2017 this team by virtue of what they've achieved thus far in what many of us thought was a disappointing season having then beaten Duke in their last two meeting in Krzyzewski's career and making it in the process to the title game. No matter the outcome win or lose they have performed magnificently. Brady Manek is a Tar Heel for all time now.
That 13-0 run was crucial.

Coach K has contributed so much to the sport of college basketball. His farewell tour was incredible because of it's significance. It gave North Carolina a couple of iconic prizes to claim by being the last team to beat him at home and later eliminating him in the Final Four to end his story book career.
What innovations did Coach K create and add to college hoops?
@@Zooview5757 He assembled the most wins and he won about 5 NCAA titles. He created the perfect rivalry games for Carolina to win by allowing the Tar Heels a win in his farewell at Cameron and later his last Final Four. The Tar Heels allowed to move into retirement with a blue foot is his rear.

I'm NOT a Duke nor NC fan ( Memphis Tigers, Tennessee Vols fan) but I was rooting for Coach K . Look like I'll be rooting for the Tar Heels in the Championship Game, don't REALLY like neither TEAM, truth be TOLD ! it would be NICE to see Hubert Davis win his FIRST championship as a head coach, after ALL he learned from under ONE of the BEST in the game.

I guess Mr. "Class act" Coach K didn't give a crap about teaching sportsmanship after his last home loss to UNC. Only he and Moore shake hands after the game last night and that is unacceptable behavior at any level and under any circumstance. His "team" decided to show that they only wanted to shake hands when they win against their arch rival (like when they blew them out in Chapel Hill earlier in the season) but walk off and pout when they lose. That shows where their mentality lies, at the end of the day and that mentality is being a sore loser, end of discussion and no Duke fan will ever tell me otherwise. If the situation were reversed, they would be losing their minds right now, calling out UNC. Bye bye Coach K. Maybe Scheyer can teach his new team some actual manners.

@@kamikazekrush3758 i think K probably had Amaker in the running but Sheyer has been his right hand man for a few years now and has been at the program coaching. i think they just wanted to go in house and didnt want to lose Scheyer to someone else down the line as hes an expert recruiter as well

Emotions are too high after a game. Don't force to shake
It's about sportsmanship. It's not about whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game. At the end of the day, it's just a game, there is more to life and contributing to society than this. I have to remind my 8 and 10 year old nieces this lesson when we play board games now, and I think the Dook staff or any other should help their 18-21 year olds practice that lesson before they become adults out in the real world after college. It's a shame that they condone and abet this unprofessional behavior. I agree with Coach Avery Johnson completely.

BS. It's been a ritual since day one of organized basketball. Be graceful always, win or lose. That's the lesson that should be taught at the end of every game and the handshake is how they prove that. Duke's sorry assistant coaches should have learned that three weeks ago.

Kansas, unfortunately, looks like they are playing flawless basketball. But UNC has climbed a mountain as well as they ever had. The number 1 seed gets the ranking because of a reason. I don't see the heels winning this game. They have to be out of gas. Hubert Davis and the team should have their chin ups, they have succeeded.
Kansas is not playing perfect basketball and UNC has not succeeded. There is a game to win on Monday. This is Kansas this year's Kansas team. Not UNLV, or old Kentucky teams or Grant Hill's Duke teams. Kansas is ok but not flawless. UNC is possibly playing the best basketball in the country right now

Kansas exists to support UNC. It their go to place for coaches and titles. KU is just a stepping stone to greatness for Tarheel basketball.

This ends the Carolina Duke rivalry. It does. Yes they play every year. Yes they r 8 miles apart. This was a 42 year battle with 2 final battles. Carolina is the goat in acc. Nc state tried after 20 years to take that trophy from heels. Then k comes along 42 years in the making. It came down to this. And let’s be honest. It was Ks ego that got us there.
