I've gone to every ncaa tournament since 2005. Ive seen upsets, like Florida Gulf Coast vs georgetown, duke/lehigh, duke/mercer and george Mason's miracle run. This was the greatest game ive ever seen live.

Can’t begin to say how satisfying this was after giving up 48 to Monk in December and having it rubbed in our faces.
and how much more satisfying it was to win the Natty afterward....

UK fought extremely hard to stay in that game. Can only do so much when the refs are on their knees blowing the game. I'm not even biased. 1st half was awful. 2nd half was called evenly.
@@wildcat0525 you shoulda saw the first match up if you thought the refs were bad in this one. UNC should have won the first match up.

The games between KY and NC are always classics, regardless of who wins. Great traditions on both sides. As much as I hated watching my Cats lose, it was a really great game.

Wholeheartedly agree. I've been around long enough to see my Heels on the wrong side of these classics with Kentucky as well. It doesn't get any better than UNC-UK - like a heavyweight championship fight every time.
From a UNC guy let me say respect for UK it's always a tough game no matter the situation.

Dear NCAA: Could you PLEASE upload EVERY tournament game and create put them in a playlist for each season. For example, all the 2018 men's tournament games in a playlist, all the 2018 women's tournament games in another, and 2017 men's in another, and so on. I think we would all love to watch a few games from the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's. I would even gladly watch commercials if that is what needs to be done to put the games on RUclips.

They used to have the NCAA Vault that has a playlist of each year from ????-2011 but they only had sweet 16 games and later rounds but they only put like 1 game from an earlier round each year if it's a classic game or upset

This was a true heavyweight fight and the 2 best teams in the country that year. It felt like 1992 Duke/Kentucky. On this day UNC wasn’t gonna be denied after the loss the prior year

I loved this team and the prior year. They all played with so much heart.
Not the most talented Carolina team, but definitely one of the easiest to love. They won the tournament on sheer willpower.

Good lord Kentucky had Fox Monk and Adebayo on the same team and still didn’t make the final four. Just shows that developing players will always trump one and done talent

I love UNC and live in Memphis. I was at the game and surrounded by Kentucky blue and they went crazy Monk hit that shot, however i went crazier when Maye hit his shot. They all looked at me with digust and heartbreak. I LOVED IT. ONE OF THE BEST SPORTS EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE!!!
Tar Heel fan here. Thought we were going to lose. Immediately after we won I booked flight to Phoenix.
Luke Maye was so frustrating to watch before this tournament. I wouldve never in a million years bet that he would score a point against kentucky in this game, much less be the mvp
He played great against Kentucky in the first game played between the two teams that year. It was in the first game they played that I realized he had potential. Up to that point I thought he would be a role player at his absolute peak. Had a great career at UNC.

Me and my friends said whoever won this game was gonna win the Championship and we were right. These two teams were the best in College Basketball that season and it’s a shame they had to meet in the Elite Eight.

John Calipari’s first Final Four as Kentucky coach happened after an Elite 8 win over North Carolina (2011 - East Rutherford, NJ). Six years later, they meet in the tournament on a floor where Calipari used to coach on.
Don't mean to be greedy, but i never did get to see the Oregon UNC game. Appreciate the extended highlight package, but when i bought the DVD, i expected it to have all 3 Final Four games on it. Instead it has just teh final. So i would love to see Oregon game. Thanks

Kentucky really played poorly in this game - I remember watching it being amazed that they even had a chance late based on how badly they had played. They were an absolute mess most of the way but it shows how far talent alone can take you that they took the national champions to the buzzer in spite of that.
That was not Kentucky playing poorly..it was UNC defense taken Kentucky out of the game.

Yeah, after looking close at that play and seeing what happened in the final 9 seconds, it seems that Willis could have prevented this. However, you see that his instinct was to cover the post to prevent an easy lay up. So I don't blame him too much. Sad day but still a tough fight.
