  • These commercials aired on WDZL in October of 1985
    1. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    2. Cheerios
    3. Battleship
    4. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    5. Masters of the Universe Dragon Blaster Skeletor
    6. Hostess Cupcakes (Captain Cupcake! I love how simple and retro that packaging is)
    7. Jeep ACM (AIR CONTROLLED MACHINE. The cable in the back looks to be about two feet long, how the hell are you supposed to drive it anywhere?)
    8. Froot Loops (With Free Star Bots. It amazes me how much free crap they used to give away in cereal back then)
    9. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    10. Corn Pops
    11. Toys R Us
    12. Cinnamon Toast Crunch
    13. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    14. Masters of the Universe Bashasaurus
    15. Jiffy Pop (With Goonies glowing cap offer!)
    16. Buzzy The Cookie Crafter
    17. Promo for "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" (I have no idea what's going on in this clip)
    18. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    19. Frosted Flakes (With Hot Wheels mail-away offer)
    20. Care Bear Cousins
    21. Alvin and the Chipmunks "Dial-A-Chipmunk" 976 number (It seems like every single kids property back then had a 976 number associated with it. It actually seems like a money-making scheme that Alvin would come up with. ALLLVIIINN!!!)
    22. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers

Oh God, if somebody today would call that Alvin and the chipmunks number.

Boricua3lions1985 it is now the number to a Liquor Store, per Google. I found that oddly appropriate.

Okay, quite a few notes and observations on this batch...
Battleship - This was recorded in October of 85, yet one of those "great moments in history" occurred on December 22nd 85. There is only one possible explanation - The good people at Milton Bradley are Time Lords!
Dragon Blaster Skeletor - I love how the kid playing Fisto feels that he himself has to freeze, instead of pretending his toy is frozen...
Buzzy the Cookie Crafter - "Graham crackers don't expect much out of life...But now, you can slice us up in a tiny spinning blade, shape us into unnatural forms, and devour us whole!!"
Care Bear Cousins - Look at the girl in the bottom right at 8:18. She looks downright bored...

Maybe it was a ricochet effect with the kid in the MOTU commercial

+Jeremiah Black I don't why but I have a hard time recalling if I ever watched Small Wonder. I'll have read-up on it to see if I tuned into it once or missed it entirely.

Thanks. I went through some images and I don't think I recognize any of the actors.

"Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" wasn't a bad show. It probably had the most epic theme music of any 80s cartoon.
I'll never see the Care Bear Cousins the same way after watching Robot Chicken.

I remember having the Bashasaurus toy. It was just as silly then as it is now. Still fun though. Also, I wonder how much that glowing Goonies cap is going for these days.

2:47 That's a shorter version of the commercial. The "full" version would include that Gypsy cat saying "How cute!"
5:29 That "Y" word reminds me of an Atari 2600 game!

Buzzy the Cookie Crafter, while cool-looking, is a prime example of a product that would NEVER be sold today. It was essentially a mini-router. "My First Shop Class", if you will.

    • @hopegrimsley3427

MDetector5 that’s what I thought. I know they called it “safe,” but I’m pretty skeptical.

RE:Jayce & TWW..i dont think that show had a proper series finale(there were plans to wrap the whole thing up in a feature-length theatrical film but it never got off the ground)
Battleship-still wonder what were they thinking with that live-action movie(and casting Rihanna in a supporting role)

  • @DanZero77
    @DanZero77 8 лет назад

It's been at least 20 years since I saw the ACM ad again, I had a tape from 1985 that had it but it's been long gone.
Free items in cereal -- Wacky Wallwakers were the best! And a cookie saw?!

  • @Boomska316

AIR CONTROLLED MACHINE How is it controlled? I don't think they said that phrase enough times for me to really get it. Man, this has been the best batch of commercials ever. Right in the middle of my childhood. I remember seeing a He-Man and She-Ra hotline ad around this time. I remember when the Care Bear Cousins debuted in the Care Bears Movie.
