I was 16 years old at the time and there is a VERY VERY Good chance I was watching this channel this day ( Channel 10 is still WPLG). I loved my saturday morning cartoons and use to watch Ghostbusters.
I remember having some of the MASK toys. They were pretty awesome and I'm surprised they haven't made a comeback since most 80s toys and shows have at this point.
+OzzieAstaroth They were indeed super-awesome. I think it's because they were never super-popular like the He-Man's and G.I.Joe's and Thundercats's, the toy line and the cartoon, so there is no "economic" incentive to bring them back. Anyway, I'm glad. They ruin things when they bring them back.
Vebinz Yeah, they weren't as popular, but they were still awesome. They're bringing back Dino Riders, so why not MASK too? When they brought back He-Man, Thundercats, and GI Joe, they were all pretty good. I wouldn't say they ruined those.
+OzzieAstaroth Well, it sucks they're bringing back anything, but "Dino Riders" atleast can operate independent of the 80's milieu, it's dinosaurs, which are always popular with kids. "MASK" is really a product of the 80's and the Transformer craze. I thought the He-Man and Thundercats "reboots" were terrible, as they dismissed the whole basic point of the originals. He-Man is He-Man because he is reluctant to use violence. Otherwise he's just Hulk. Thundercats is Thundercats because it was about Lion-O growing up into leadership on this alien world, it was Superman meets Star Wars.
Vebinz Well, I enjoyed them. It was awesome to see an origin story for not only He-Man, but Grayskull and the sword of power as well. I've always thought they should merge MASK with GI Joe. They sort of did that in action figure form, with the release of the Matt "T.R.A.K.K.E.R." GI Joe figure.
Actually I read an article last week that says Mask along with Micronauts & ROM will be apart of the new GI Joe cinematic universe Hasbro is creating. So Mask will be making a comeback for the new generation 😊
I remember the Bonker's ads well, but never got to try any. They looked good though. They seem to have disappeared. Even Google didn't turn up any for sale.
Am I the only one who thought ALL of the Fruit Loops tasted like lemon cake? The Bedrock Flintstone Kids. I remember the trend of kid versions of stuff. Yo Yogi, Life with Louis, Little Rosie, A Pup Named Scooby Doo....
I want to go to Disney World on Christmas Day! Brian Austin Green’s wife was just about 7 months old here ;) Saw this awesome endcap at Target, which included Pound Puppies, the original My Little Pony, vintage Trolls, Lite-Brite, and the Crossfire game. Their 80s represent was strong. I approve.
Is it possible that the "mad professor" bird in the "Froot Loops" ad is a nod to the "Doc Brown" character from "BTTF?" Seems to be a caricature of Christopher Lloyd.
always wondered why M.A.S.K hasnt had a live-action movie adaptation yet..if ever there was a property calling out for Michael Bay to direct, this would be it IMO.. @PowerGlove79 yes that was indeed Rita Wilson in that Skittles ad.. i think that was C Thomas Howell in the 3 Musketeers commercial also
+Philip Gipson Hasbro is actually going to try doing a "shared universe" thing similar to what Marvel has done. That Includes GI Joe, Transformers, MASK, and a few others. www.slashfilm.com/gi-joe-shared-universe/
+TTrigg That's not C.Thomas Howell at all....it doesn't even look like him. By '85 - '86 he was a known young face in Hollywood (see the flick "Soul Man") and that face ain't his.
Pretty sure they stopped being made in the 90's. I never got to try Tato Skins but they make TGI Fridays brand potato skin chips these days in various flavors that aren't too bad.
+Tremendous Sax Presumably the TGIF's brand is by the same supplier than did the Keebler's. But on Amazon they sell a "Tato Skin" brand that's supposed to be the actual (now non-Keebler) Keebler ones. I tried them and they are most excellent like the originals, though they are pricey now. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tato_Skins inventurefoods.com/our-brands/tato-skins
+Tremendous Sax I'm eating some right now as I watch this video. They're not owned by Keebler anymore though. Here: inventurefoods.com/our-brands/tato-skins We have them st the store where I work.

I love this. I feel like I'm a kid in the 80s in Ft. Lauderdale all over again. The best place and the best decade to grow up in.
I totally forgot about the chocolate Bonkers. I still swear by the watermelon. SOME CANDY, indeed.
Readmore is such an O.G.

In the M&M's commercial, did anyone notice they gave the brown one the bandana and hip hop dance?
Yeah that's right we didn't have red or blue M&Ms growing up but we did have those light brown ones.
Pound puppies. I used to have some of those. My girlfriend had one when she was little and she still has it!
I want to go to Disney World on Christmas Day!

Was that Rita Wilson as the waitress in the Skittles commercial?
Nice uploads
chocolate mint? until now I've never even heard of that flavor of bubble gum.

Kids shouldn't read while on sidewalks, no matter what a giant cat with a sailor hat says.
Who else misses tater skins? I don't even think they lasted long enough to get in on the ranch flavor craze.

Not to mention e.t. Outsiders and red dawn
Ugh, I hope they don't let Michael Bay anywhere near these.
*****
unfortunately i think Bay has been confirmed as the director of Transformers 5..
Really doing a hard sell on The facts of Life
Facts of life get togethers are the way to go apparently
I really want some of those Tato Skins. Do they still make those? Were they anything special?
Pretty sure they stopped being made in the 90's. I never got to try Tato Skins but they make TGI Fridays brand potato skin chips these days in various flavors that aren't too bad.

+80sCommercialVault Thanks for the tip! I think I've seen those before. Definitely gonna pick some up. Advertising works ;)
