  • These commercials aired on WDZL in October of 1985
    1. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumper
    2. Toys R Us
    3. Promo for "She-Ra: Princess of Power"
    4. "Gremlins" Drunk Driving/Anti-Drug PSA (With Gizmo and the old man from "Gremlins"! OMG this is incredible!)
    5. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    6. Masters Of The Universe Modulok (Pretty neat)
    7. Apple Jacks
    8. Care Bear Wear (My sister had Cheer Bear, but don't remember any strange outfits)
    9. Pac-Man Cereal (Amazing. With Free Gummi Worms!)
    10. Promo for "Fat Albert"
    11. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    12. Go Bots Power Warrior
    13. Twix
    14. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumper
    15. G.I. Joe Mauler
    16. Fruit Roll-Ups (With Kirk Cameron and Jason Hervey)
    17. Promo for "Kids Incorporated" (I watched this when it was on the Disney Channel in the late 80's/early 90's. Embarrassingly cheesy to watch now but some of their covers weren't half bad...and certainly not as bad as the kidz bop crap today)
    18. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    19. Pop Tarts
    20. Care Bears Secret Bear (Secret Bear worked for the NSA)
    21. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    22. Operation
    23. Masters Of The Universe Battle Bones
    24. McDonald's
    25. Simon (LOL. Am I crazy to think this ad might have directly inspired the Lucas Barton character in "The Wizard"?)
    26. Keep The Torch Lit PSA (This was a massive fundraising effort to restore the Statue of Liberty for its 100th anniversary in 1986)
    27. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumpers
    28. The Animal
    29. Honey Smacks
    30. Hugga Bunch (These are seriously ugly...somehow even worse than Cabbage Patch dolls)
    31. Promo for "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors"
    32. March of Dime PSA
    33. "Thundercats" Commercial Bumper

    This was the best time. My gosh. Toys, cartoons, and taping songs on the radio were my priorities, and I was living in the best place.

    The epic commercial for me this set is that Pop-Tarts ad, can't get more 80s than that!

    12:01 Is it me, or is the Dad in the "Honey Smacks" commercial David Ruprecht from "Supermarket Sweep?" And was "Dig 'Em" one of the least inspired nicknames for a food mascot? Great collection!

    • @michaelglickman1300
      @michaelglickman1300 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, that was David Ruprecht. Maybe that was how "Supermarket Sweep" creator and executive producer Al Howard discovered him.

    I remember the Care Bear outfits. My sister and I had quite a few of them. And we had practically every Care Bear made, as well, including Secret Bear. And I think mine still works.
    We never watched "Thundercats," but my sister just told me she nicknamed her staple remover "Mr. Thundercat" because the Thundercats logo kind of reminds her of a staple remover.

    OH! Isn't that Tiffany Brissette (Vicki the Robot from 'Small Wonder') on the Care Bears Secret Bears commercial?

    • @GlowBella
      @GlowBella 8 лет назад +1

      +Lydia Camacho I think you're right! Plus, I think the other girl in that ad is Danica McKellar (Winnie from The Wonder Years)! That would make two future stars from that show in this volume.

    'Kids inc" - seems like one of those shows that signaled the end of sat morning cartoons.. For me, the first live action show after the cartoons meant it was time to go play outside.

      @80sCommercialVault  8 лет назад +1

      +Mike Troncin It was a syndicated show that probably aired mostly in the afternoon...depending on where the station put it in their lineup. The station here put it at 10:30 AM on Sundays.

    Kids Inc. - Admittedly, I had a thing for Martika, but who knew we were watching a very young Fergie right before our eyes? I teach middle school and for a while it was cool telling students I remembered her when...

    03:17 - ever notice how attics in movies and tv are always 10,000 times nicer than real attics?

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  8 лет назад +3

      +Mike Troncin Either that or they are terrifying...bathed in blue light and full of creepy old mannequins and clown dolls.

  • @miketroncin749
    @miketroncin749 8 лет назад +3

    The 'old man ' in gremlins was also the original Kato on the green hornet, Brak in the original space ghost and master Po on Kung Fu..

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  8 лет назад +1

      +Mike Troncin Also "number one son" in the old Charlie Chan movies

    • @miketroncin749

      +80sCommercialVault I never got an opportunity to watch that... Wasn't that show somewhat controversially racist/ offensive to Asians?

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  8 лет назад +2

      +Mike Troncin I've only seen one of them a while ago. I mean, the main character is a very stereotypical portrayal of a Chinese man by a white actor in makeup, so it's hard to not see it as insensitive these days. On the other hand, a lot of authentically Asian actors like Keye Luke started their careers in those movies.

    That Toys R Us commercial is freaky...Those giant lifeless toys, and that Pennywise the Clown wannabe...
    As for that Gremlins commercial, it's awesome, but I'm surprised they got away with showing that clip with the Gremlin skeleton near the end, since you think that would freak some kids out...

    Funny how the WDZL Kids Inc. spot was followed by a Kellogg's Pop Tarts spot since (according to an upload of that commercial by itself) one of the Kids Inc. cast members (Martika of "Toy Soldiers" fame) was in that commercial as well.
    Maybe WDZL decided to stick the Kids Incorporated promo in after getting the Thundercats tape with the national ads.

    Well this is probably my new favorite set of all the ones you've posted so far. I remember endless commercials for those Animal trucks. Does anyone know if they actually worked as advertised? I always wonder what it's like to appear in a toy commercial. I can imagine that owl getting sick of all the testing and turning on the good Doctor.
