Great tips! My first bad wreck, I landed hard on my side, hurt my shoulder and hip pretty bad. I thought a lot about how I would roll the next time; thought about it every ride. Well, about three weeks ago I had another wreck. Time seemed to slow down during the fall, and I thought, roll, roll, and sure enough I did a great roll and I only bent one finger backwards. I'm 62.
You got this!!... I just turned 70 November 5th My wife bought me the new OW GT and once I figured out how to balance myself it was a great ride!.. I really love my One Wheel GT!!... only time I fell off I landed on my feet! I'm getting better every time though.. tomorrow I'm gonna ride it to town and back!
That was my son at 1:06 showing the lesson on doing the splits with the front foot on the board. Learning when and how to bail out and fall properly is a great skill to have. Great tips! ➖☠️➖🤙🤙
Jake, you are by far the best 'splainer ever. I share your teaching video's as the gospel with all noobs, and rewatching them reminds me of the things i have to work on. Concise, simple, well thought out. Thank you. Aoxomoxoa
Watched this video this morning. Went out and hit a pothole. This video 💯 percent just helped me avoid the er. A lil rash and bruising but I feel great 😊
Awesome tips, recently I had a bad nosedive going too fast, long story short, even after I was able to rollover, what really saved me from any injuries, was my wrist guards and helmet, both smashed into the concrete with brute force and I walked it out.
Great to hear! Just getting started and seems like helmet and wrist guards are the two must-haves, elbow/knee pads seem like they might just get in the way more for learning but seem good for speed/trails later on
Im watching this just cause i just crashed on fresh blacktop in Mission Mode doing 26 mph on my XR. 5 bruises with just top skin layer scraped. Somehow riding on right lane i ended up in the tall grassy ditch .
My tip try to do judo roll (martial art) on your natural also switch stence. When warming up I do couple of after general body warm up. You can pratice it as warm up for any action action sport involving crahs even in water sport .... It help to fall smothly when you are not ready for it.
I'm 70 and my wife bought me the new GT for my Birthday. I been learning.... one crash at a time... not so many falls now as on day one... Never had any kind of skateboard before, but I really love riding when I don't fall. I rode 5 miles last week without an incident! LOL!
Any specific or different you recommend for trail bails? Especially when on a narrow trail surrounded by rocks and stumps and inclines and declines and tree branches and other items that want to impale you? This is where I have had my worst falls and gotten really lucky too.
"Angry Pitbull" Failed dismount at total miles- 7. Foot stayed on front sensor- pant leg caught between front sensor and wheel- Run-away board. Power-assisted splits... right hamstring damage. I put the fender on now. At least until I can dismount safely.
Second day of teaching my daughter was all about bailing off. I cant get over the love we get from TFL and the negligence and abuse we get from Future Motion....Jeff, start a gofundme to buy them out! HAHA!
The only disagreement i have with his is the idea of taking as many steps as you can. Might be okay for younger and more athletic folks but the older you are, the likely you are to mess up a knee or ankle joint beyond your second step. I try to decide if it is runoutable or not and if not, i'm setting up a roll by my second step.
@@JakeLeary At 52, out of control running or failed attempts at running can be. I'm easy. If I'm not 100% I can run it out, 2 steps to slow my roll and then a nice organized dive roll.
I agree to some extent because once I tried to run out a nosedive but my legs couldn't keep up and I ended up bending my ankle awkwardly and straining my Achilles tendon. Two month recovery. Next time I used two steps to simply orient my body before dropping for a shoulder roll. That seemed to spread the impact across my body versus my more fragile ankles and knees. It's a split second call though so it will always depend on your situation. Keep floatin'!
@@p.patrickcamba2514 I certainly have the bailing experience. You'll see an example of the 2 steps roll without any real attempt to run it out. ruclips.net/video/hoX7JfSHOp4/видео.html
I was not the greatest skateboarder and learned by falling a lot for three months. Eventually I development an instinct to fall properly. I am always horrified to see these snowboarders on onewheel locking their front foot perpendicular. That's a recipe for disaster. on the other hand, my diagonal foot placement often means disengaging the sensors.
Great review of safe falls but I think you should emphasize helmets more. I have had to unfortunately watch a young person die from a low speed head bonk that would have been avoided with helmet use.
You do not want to ever break your fall with your arms or hands good way to get them broke. You need to practice rolling into a dive this will help you prevent scraps and broken bone.
Dude help!!! So here's the thing. I just bought a well taken care of used pint thinking it would be easier for me to learn on. Let me give you some background. My boyfriend has an XR. Knows Noone willing to get a OW, he always complains about having not anyone good to ride with. He tried group rides and didn't click with the crowd. I have tried his xr I took months but started to be OK after a while. I'm athletic, a Zumba instructor even. Not onlt that but also a energy / light healer. When I get in this thing in filled with FEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! I know fear is the worst place for me to ever be. I don't know what in my life or past lives happened to me to give me this fear. The boyfriend trys to be so patient. I'm just holding him back from riding to me and now it brings me to an angry place still filled with great fear. He just jumps on and floats. Wants to enter some of the races. He rocks this thing. Like it's his feet. Oh I forgot, I have skateboarded and owned a sb company with my x husband many years ago. I'm now 41. I have 3 boys who also ride circles around me now. How how how can learn to ride this like a normal person? I really hate myself everything anyone talks about going to ride now and getting me to learn better. Oh. Ps I feel like I'm glued to the board when I'm supose to be Practicing Jumping off backwards with both feet at the same time period. I feel like I can't move and when I force mussel I pull my knee out or something dumb. LEARY HELP ME!!!!
How much time have you spent riding it holding onto someone's arm? Usually I just have people ride holding onto my arm for a few minutes and the fear slowly goes away as you start to understand how the board works. A walking stick could help at first too!

One things for sure: if you ride a onewheel, you are going to fall. Such a great video. Thanks Jake.

A good lesson to teach. Don’t think of it as an “if” it’s a “when” because you WILL crash 😛. Keep it up TFL
I guess Im pretty off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch new movies online ?
The Onewheel WRECKS series has seriously added more than I thought in terms of what to do/what not to do on a Onewheel. Great video as always, team!
Thanks for letting us use that footage Nate!
Knowing how to fall & dissipate the impact is essential. I’ve fallen (like all of you) & never been seriously injured.

Thought I recognized that dude. 🤙
I fell today and this helped me fall better!
Practice is key. It's fun on grass!

These are gold 😅
You're a legend.
You r a legend.
That was great!! Super helpful for all riders!!
Aye, helpful is right. 🤙
Im watching this just cause i just crashed on fresh blacktop in Mission Mode doing 26 mph on my XR. 5 bruises with just top skin layer scraped. Somehow riding on right lane i ended up in the tall grassy ditch .
Yeah don’t do that 😅
FutureMotions should make you their brand ambassador. Wow that run after the nose dive. You are the master.
I'm ready to bail. Skateboarding has me well trained.
Excellent tips!! Thanks so much. 🤙
Such an important technique to have ready to go! Keep up the best videos in the game TFL!! 😤🔥😤
Another great video thanks buddy
How to properly bail on a one wheel, ouch. Glad to c you’re still keeping busy. I’m the unicycle guy from your last shop. Enjoy the weather
Great tips!
Glad you like them!
Always bringing those facts. 🤙
Great tips!
Now let’s go practice falling.😁
Great video and really useful tips. I’ll be sure to keep this in mind when shredding around on my Pint!
Very well explained!
Glad it was helpful!
Dude the greenscreen ragdoll was hilarious.
Best scene by far 🙌😂
We're really getting some good use out of that green screen
I was kind of surprised this was a method of bailing. Lol. Looks horribly damaging.
I learned that side shoulder roll is quick easy and effective and takes 80% of force off the fall

great music
Anyone else watching this after right after falling off?
🤕

LOL!
I ride like I'm ready for a fight.
And also ride alpine stance for bails...

Yeah... avoid the gnarly stuff haha
"Angry Pitbull" Failed dismount at total miles- 7. Foot stayed on front sensor- pant leg caught between front sensor and wheel- Run-away board. Power-assisted splits... right hamstring damage. I put the fender on now. At least until I can dismount safely.
Luckily, with my background in skateboarding, I’m already really good at falling/bailing properly.
Second day of teaching my daughter was all about bailing off. I cant get over the love we get from TFL and the negligence and abuse we get from Future Motion....Jeff, start a gofundme to buy them out! HAHA!
Although it's easy to find fault, we have to remember that none of us would be riding around on futuristic one wheeled magic carpets without FM!
@1:05 just happened to me 😔 Torn hamstring & buttock lol
Ouch 🤕

Running 🏃🏾♂️ with the Devil 👹
Helmets are cool to tho

It sounds like you’re saying that running is worse for your body than falling

I'm 45...I'm on my 54th life..I should be dead...not just from one wheel...cars,wakeboarding,snowboarding, etc

Sadly these things may not help you if you have flight fins on, so nice to ride with, not so much to bail with.
I deal with this by upping the technical challenge of the route so I'm not bailing at 18 mph on trails

practice? lol
Good tips just missing a helmet in the video.
And please, please, for the love of all that is sacred, wear a helmet.
Absolutely! don’t be worried about if it looks cool. Head casts really don’t look cool. 😂
Watch the Crash Real. It will make a believer.
Helmets definitely help!
Dude help!!!
