உத்திரகாண்டம் சான்றோர்களால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. அதில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்ட சம்பவங்கள் வால்மீகி ராமாயணத்திலும் கம்பராமாயணத்திலும் ஆங்காங்கே குறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
