It just goes to show that we aren't all steam fanatics. I love the guy sitting on the bench at Ascot Vale station (3:10) who didn't even look up from his phone as the train was approaching, but only looked up when the A2 was level with where he was sitting!
He looked a little confused!
We used to have similar excursions at school like this. We would spend a week travellng around central and north wester Victoria on the old red rattler sleeper carriages, at least thats what we called them. My little brother fell out of the window between bendigo and Inglewood, got himself a dozen stiches or so. The bed uswd to fold down level with the window and the idioy was hanging out the window as we negotiated a fairly shar curve and he go shunted out , bloody funny the joke for the rest of the week was I had pushed him but luckily enough I was in the dining car with the teaches when it happened. They were great camps they should do them again us kids loved it .
P.S They were diesels that hauled us around not steam loco's.
That was the Train of Knowledge with the wooden sleepers.
@@darylcheshire1618 Yep thatt was the one It was a great week.

Thanks for your fine video that brought back fond memories of The Victorian Railways in the days of steam.
Ahh there’s that Brunswick green k class that we all love and are missing deeply
This looks like it would have been a favourite day. Thanks for the video.
Great job as always.
A mystery express... it would be very loud coming down the track though, not much mystery to that is there!
Nice video mate it has been awhile since i have been on a steam rail tour i would love to go on one this year.
Just magnificent. What a great video and what a lovely day was turned on to shoot it as well. The restored Tait is simply spectacular. Kudos and thanks to everyone that has got that to this condition. So wonderful to see (please correct me if I'm wrong) the old commissioner's engine (639) in action as well.
@Lachlan Smith Thanks so much for that detailed response. I had in the back of my mind that there was a story behind it, and that covers it beautifully. Cheers
Were you in the cupola of a Tait guard's van for the run across the Viaduct and at Flinders Street? Great footage (as usual). You do an excellent job. First class.
Let’s play a fun game of spot the HCMT
Saw that and thought "The old and the New".
Very nice! I might have gone out myself but the timetable was such a mystery I had no idea where the train was running. Is your second camera a GoPro (or something similar)?
A VR fail, the mystery tour in the late ‘70s was announced over the PA as “The mystery train to Seymour...”
