      Loving these especially living in a smaller town and not even thinking of using these stores I don’t have in my area.

    17" Blackstone griddle was a game changer for me the versatility can cook just about anything...it's great even doubles as it's own plate ...

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I really like mine. I haven’t been using it as much as I try some new stuff for the channel but so far I’ve been way happier with the blackstone.

    I shop at Tractor Supply all of the time, horses and chickens, and I buy a lot from them . . . Tow straps, shackles, tools, etc. A great store with a lot of truck edc gear!

      Yeah back where I came from there were so many around. Loved going but now it’s such a long like 45 minute drive to my closest one. Kinda sad.

    Much respect on including the "older school" style products on your list. I agree. Sometimes it's tough to beat the tried and true camping gear... 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I want to try to mix it up in my camping videos and do both the old school way and the new school way as well.

    • @OXFOOT

      Showing people the old school stuff I sometimes talk about isn’t as bad as they think.

    Thanks dude I like watching this videos to see everybody's diff point of view on gear and preparedness and get some better ideas on my camping/edc 4Runner gear!!!!!

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  3 года назад +1

      Yeah so far in the pursuit of making these videos I’ve found some great stuff at these retail locations. Either I hadn’t looked close enough before or companies are starting to understand the demand. There’s some great expensive gear out there but I’m in the camp that not everything needs to be expensive.

    for a headlamp I highly recommend getting one with a red light option.. it allows you to see what you are doing without blinding everyone else, or taking away their "night vision". me being night blind I always have a flashlight on me. (O-light mini, on my keyring), and a pile of small flashlights in my truck. cant go wrong with COAST flashlights, they take a beating, and keep working..

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 года назад

      I love the red light setting on my headlamp. Not only is it better for everyone else it’s supposedly better if you’re around mosquitoes.

    I had a truck bed tent when I had a 07 Frontier. It was a pain to put up and take back down. I used it once and was done with it. Been using a instant Core pop tent since and couldn't be happier with it.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  3 года назад

      Yeah I think it looks cool and in theory it’s a pretty cool concept but it looks like it takes for ever to pop up and to take down. I’ve heard some people say they love theirs so I figured I’d mention it.

    • @OXFOOT

    Sorry I'm late on the replies... I used have a jeep and went out and spent way more money than I needed to on Name Brand Hi-end gear. Well ruby got a little long in the tooth like her owner. So now have a similar rig to yours, I love it. I found your channel as I was looking to do a budget build the time without laying tons of cash. Even if it fails in a few years I'm still ahead of the game. chances are I'll be buying a new improved version which is even better? Anyway, loving the budget gear series Mate. Great job.

    • @OXFOOT

      I live Jeeps and maybe one day would buy one for strictly rock crawling but at this point in my life the 4Runner being a jack of all trades and master of none is fine with me. I love mixing budget in with the expensive stuff every once in a while. It’s nice to share the budget stuff with people as I’m sure a lot of other channels can get you the reviews on the expensive stuff.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 года назад

      But yeah there’s no reason to spend a ton of money on high end gear unless they are the only ones that make it. Kinda how I ended up with the GFC, now there’s tons of different cheaper clones.

    Beware that farm jack, pure trash. I used it once and the hook broke straight down the middle. And tractor supply was a pain to deal with for the return. Had to call the regional manager. Just go hi lift they’re worth the money

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  3 года назад +1

      Jesus, that’s my nightmare. I’m terrified of them. I just got one recently after tons of research and I’m pretty happy with it but it’s one of those things where I almost recommend everyone spend the money and get a good one.

    • @zone4garlicfarm

      It's not much more to buy a genuine Hi-Lift. The quality is much better and there are many attachments available.

  • @goin200mph

    For the flashlights: stay far away from anything that has the CREE name in it! I’ve had quite a few different CREE products, from home lighting to flashlights and every single one has failed early. The price point is good, but the quality is absolute zero, in my experience

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 года назад +1

      I’ve had pretty good experience with them but I also only use products for maybe a few months to test for the channel. CREE is something I have typically seen on cheaper products so I trust you on that. Thanks for the heads up.

    Word of caution on the “550” cord, it’s not. Period
    Genuine 550 cord has a weight rating of … wait for it… an actual 550 lbs! Not the dismal 50 lbs of this fake stuff. Spend a couple dollars more and get some cord that has a usable load capacity

    I still for the life of me can't figure out the premise of the rooftop tent....it seems like an overpriced chindogu device that turned something simple and straightforward into a ridiculously costly and unnecessarily complicated thing...almost like its only purpose is that it fulfills a masturbatory impulse for gear dorks.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  Год назад

      It should be that or it is a nice middle ground between a ground tent and camper so it gives some benefits of having a camper but much much cheaper.
