Excellent video and very helpful to learn from Jason who covers small details we, who don't plaster everyday , find helpful. This finish is the most challenging for me and I learned about a thinner mix than from Kirk. Thanks as always !
In-laws asked if I can fix a bulging spot. Well, yes I can, thanks to Kirk and his tribe. I liked that you describe ways to adjust the finish. This shall help me greatly. Thx
Thank you. When dashing we'd usually mix our usual ratio of 3 parts sand to 1 part Portland cement and then add extra water. But, as long as there is enough cement to create adhesion you can play with these ratios to affect your texture.

Hello Kirk. Question is I'm plastering a block house and about every 5 feet there is concrete support columns. When plastering over the block the plaster curing time is 30-60 minutes, but on the columns the plaster dries out in minutes. No matter how much hydration I do it's the same outcome. Anything I can do to stop this.
Absolutely, you can hydrate them for at least an hour to make certain they are not only moist but cold. Or you can apply Quikeret bonding agent over them, cutting the suction time by half. Quikrete sells for about 15 dollars a gallon at Home Depot and lowes hardware stores.
I need to do similar repairs material, but I got a big bag of lime they gave me when I asked for mixing materials. Are you using lime in this mixture or just Portland and sand?
Hello, cool video, how long did the weld crete dry for? and could I use SikaLatex R Concrete Bonding Adhesive & Acrylic Fortifier? lowes doesnt have weld crete.
I'd recommend Quikrete bonding agent, which is sold at HD, Lowe's, and all the smaller hardware stores. However, Sika's binding agent will also work. I haven't tried that one yet.
Evening Gilbert, I hate to say this, but it is the truth. Stay away from all types of plasters in a shower.🤔 This includes all Structo-lite, and all the Veneer-based or lime-based pretty finished and deep rich pretty colored pure lime finished plasters. Even if your shower has an advanced exhaust system, I don't recommend any plastering systems in the shower itself. Although I don't anymore, you can apply lime-based plaster as even these lime plasters mold fast and must be sealed every 6 months; who has time for this nonsense? Either tile or attach the plastic shower sheets. Hell, even the caulking and grouts will mold in time, aging, don't apply any limes in a shower. You can use lime or veneer-based plasters for all other areas but leave the shower alone or face mold in the future.🏝 You will, like me, still have to re-caulk every few years, but your walls won't mold within a few months, like every plaster known to man will.
Howdy Alex, stucco is made from adding Portland cement with sand, Concrete is made by adding Portland cement with rocks. Yes, you can dash with your basecoat.

@@RDPainting-j9l Portland stucco, fyi, stucco is Portland cement mixed with sand. Concrete is Portland cement mixed with rocks.🕵🏼♀️

Have you guy's ever plastered a shower? If it can be done what kind of materials are used?
We dont plaster showers anymore as all plaster mold, Tile instead. You can type in Eco stucco on this channel for more details on this subject.👨🏼🎨
