We make these videos to show those who may want to hire us that we do know what we are doing, so much so as to be transparent in the applications Via RUclips. Thus, all can depend on us for sound advice and workmanship.
Were using regular Portland stucco mixed with three times the sand per every one part stucco. For example, for every one hundred pounds of cement stucco, 300 pounds of sand are added to the mix.
Or, for smaller jobs, buy "Rapid Set Stucco" from Home Depot or Lowes.
It has the sand already in the box or bag. You add water and apply.

Hey Kirk good plan ...up here in the great white north we just grind the finish off down to the scratch coat or brown coat ..then we bond and recap or restucco the wall ...5$ a sq ft.. n ...Bob's yr uncle ..but of course Canada doesn't have strict stucco code !
We just plaster right over the old stuff in Sask unless it's a painted or acrylic finish.

Howdy Fishing Dude, year we got beat up on the removal and killed to much suction, thus we would have benefited by a scratch coat then taking a 30 minute break. I had one. I didn't finish the story in the video. I juiced with the electric one. It had an orange top. This top got chucked in the garbage with the ends, as the dammed top was camouflaged. Why is wire wheeling outlawed?
Excellenta question, same reasons sand blasting, and using a skill saw with a masonry blade is it releases silica into the air. It may come with a hefty fine of 35 grand however I still see folks doing it. Silica in the lungs is similar to asbestos. Have I inhaled silica? Man, I’ve inhaled so much I’m amazed I can still think. Both go in the lungs and stay there kinda like owning luggage, one tends to keep that crap forever.
@@StuccoPlastering thank you
I've removed the boards and decorative brick looking foundation tiles. Half of the top siding is the old 70's pebble and glass chips and the bottom half was board, that has now been removed. My goal is to make all the siding fluent smooth stucco from top to bottom. On the garage side and front the wood goes right to the bottom so I have to paper and lath that section all the way to the bottom. I'll pressure wash the old pebbly stucco, that also has old paint on it, and get it really clean, then put on quikrete concrete bonding agent. I have a dilemma about how I set things up for the garage side, because it's all wood to the bottom, and I want to place real stones below the stucco siding part, to give a foundation finished look to match the rest of the foundation on the house. My question is: When putting on the bottom metal J channel that goes on the bottom for the stucco drip piece, do I need to put this drip strip on the very bottom also to create a bottom for the rock foundation or do I just put the stones on the prepped area (paper, lath, and a coat of base stucco) and just put the stones all the way to the bottom of the prepared area?
@@therenaissancewoman2080 Good question, you do not need a drip-screed when doing stone work. You can install one to protect the mud sill but stones don’t need the drip screed which also serves as a stop as the stones test on the ground. Your house your rules.
@@StuccoPlastering That's helpful. Thank you ;)
@@therenaissancewoman2080 your welcome.
Hey Kirk. Thanks for all the great videos. I have a question for ya. I stuccoed a cmu wall in our back yard this weekend with an acrylic product. The color is a little too dark. How do I prep the wall so I can go over it with a lighter color? Im planning on using the same product just a lighter tint. Thanks bro!
Howdy Matt a better solution is to use Stuc-o-flex’s Renew paint with the color you want, and simply roll it out. That would last as long as the acrylic itself. To prep any wall for an acrylic, you first use the primer associated with the acrylic finish, then apply the finish coat. Did you do this the first time? If not this may be why the color change? Cheers.

Good one
Thank you my friend.
Did this same thing for 35 years. You didnt show it painted, why not ?
We don’t do painting, beside stucco when applied has a pH level of about 13, it’s best to allow the stucco at least two or three weeks to drop down to about a 7 or 8. This way the paint won’t blister, bleed or discolor. This is technically boring stuff but highly recommended. That being said I can and do notice every patch I or anyone has ever done. I do this stuff for a living and notice shit like this.
