Marbles will randomly select which soldiers to spawn. Soldiers will automatically move towards the enemy base and fire at nearby enemies.

Seeing that 816 marble go straight into the riflemen is what got me.

when i saw the zeppelin push i said we are doomed (randomly supported blue) and then 816 marble came, fuck that was some lucky and epic shit. green zepellins gave a good fight though

I think flame-troopers would be a great addition. Short range, anti infantry troops that explode on death due to the gas in their tanks leaking out and combusting
Actually in real life the tanks didn't explode when shot but ok
@@ZackShark1 they didn’t but when they contacted the flame at the tip of the thrower they could combust, or if the bullet sparked on its way through

this is why modern militarizes developed automatic grenade launchers, like the mk19, after the Korean war. I.E. to combat human wave tactics
I don't think automatic grenade launcher wouldve mattered in this battle

Like sure it throws a lot of small explosive rounds down range, but its quite innacurate, so quite pointless if the enemy manages to reach close range if you dont want to risk your own troops.
Also like . . machine guns exist?
Human wave tactics can only be useful if you are willing to take massive casualties and if the terrain allows it
If the terrain is just flat land, Your attack is just gonna be completely destroyed by machine guns and artillery no matter how many men you throw at it.
If the terrain is much more restricting, allowing attacking forces to be behind cover until they are much closer where you could risk hitting your own troops with artillery, then you could overrun the enemy position, still at the cost of massive casualties.
Automatic grenade launchers were meant to be used against defences.
What? Any full-auto firearm counters human wave tactics. That's literally why the Western Front in WW1 turned into a trench war in the first place. Because machineguns could shred infantry by the thousands. By the time of the Korean War everyone with access to modern firearms knew that, and tactics had evolved away from human waves entirely.
Automatic grenade launchers are for destroying light armour, entrenched enemy positions, and suppressing enemies in cover. They're not for countering human wave tactics, because no-one ever did that after WW1.

I think that the cost requirement function is working well! May need to tone down the multiplier for infantry from x20 to x5, but in all fairness when you get a marble with 800+ value it's pretty hard for anything to be "balanced." Could've landed on the Zeppelin or Mega-Tank slot and it still would've led to 100+ units.

I think the issue is how frequently we get such large numbers. The +50 maybe could get toned down to a +25 or +30. The 16,000 infantry from that one marble would've been 8,000 or 9,600. Which... is also a lot, but +50 is still maybe too big.
Or I just prefer green over blue, which is also true.

The thing is, it's part of the fun to get those big numbers. It's not a competitive RTS for things to be balanced
When a marble hits the locked zone wall it should reduce the timer by a second or so, kinda reminiscent of how it was in old versions!

That would mean the marble is sacrificed for an advantage the other team might get too. You’d have to split it into two timers, one for each color.

At 10:28 watching that mortar blow a hole in the wave just for them to close ranks has to be one of the most terrifying and demoralizing things you could ever see.
I already miss the flood of blue tanks.
I think, genuinely, that the infantry mortars are the single best unit in the game. They're cheap to produce, they can hide in trenches and don't have a huge hitbox to begin with, and the mortar shots are absolutely amazing at clearing everything except air. Even massed tank, when they themselves are massed. To say nothing of infantry swarms. I'm confident that a 50 count mortar spawn could have stopped that human wave.
I would play the shit out of this game if it were real.
The main problem I see with mortars is its tendency to all shoot at the same spot. It's most visible around 10:50 or so. Whole waves of mortar fire hitting a single point. If there was a wider random stagger on their hit location so 75% didn't go to waste, they'd have decimated that wave.

Green had 6,200 kills more than Blue did, and nearly 10,000 came after the tsunami. Unfortunately for Green, the tsunami had spawned 16,320 riflemen. They would've had to get very lucky with tanks, zeppelins, and artillery strikes to have any hope at all
You sir, have just reiterated the story of the German Eastern Front of WWII in short.
I mean, they did have some zeppelins and tanks, and those got destroyed in literal seconds so the only thing that could have saved green is mortars and all forms of artillery

Would be interesting to have a population sort of deal. The longer things go the more expensive it is and harder to get things like massive waves.
Or perhaps something such as having groups of units spawn less unless given time to 'retrain' the full amount or vehicles cost going up until more can be made

This was great watching. Just a suggestion for ease of watching, having the score indicator be the same color as the absolute swarms of blue at the end made the score unreadable. Might it be possible to outline in a color neither army is using for readability?
