I have one of these and really love it for something to always have with me. I took out the boo-boo kit and vacuum packed the gloves to make it a bit more slim. This made it much more comfortable to carry everyday and sit on. I usually have a boo-boo kit nearby in a bag, car, desk drawer, etc., so I’m not worried about not having it on my person. I’m not willing to forego the gloves, especially living in an urban area where I’m more likely find myself rendering aid to a stranger.

Saw this video and went and bought it. Loved it! Carry it with me for work. (Seen many bloody accidents in the roofing industry) only Change that I made to it is switch the swat t to a h&h mini compression bandage. Super flat and makes the ifak slightly more slim than it was. I carry a CAT TQ and shears combo on a belt loop. Unfortunately it is not East German Shepherd approved. Only took 30 seconds unsupervised for her to tear it. Will be getting another one
Got this kit few weeks back. I didnt really like the thickness when i put it in my pocket so i took out the swat-t and carry SOFT-T TQ next to it and it works great.
Decades ago when I completed my first aider course - we were taught of veteran medics who carried a spare of gloves in their socks & a medi-prep in the other sock. I have carried a numbered notebook for work for 30 years & I carry a few bandaids & medi-prep wipes in the back section. In the front was 2 pairs of gloves & 2 face shields with a mask. It sits in my left back pocket - always.
Huh pretty sweet lil med kit. I like how they devided up the two sections and made the most of the limited space they had avaible. Good over view
Coming here after seeing your edc vid. For me, cargo pocket or bag carry only, I hate having a wallet in my back pocket. For a compact kit, it’s pretty great. Only kits that are as small are the skinny medic edc kit and Tactical response pocket VOC. I think the skinny medic kit is a bit smaller, and the voc is a bit bigger, but this has more stuff than Skinny medic’s kit, and I really like the fact it has everyday first aid stuff in it. Lot’s of times I’ve needed a band aid.
Got one a few months ago for EDC. Thicker than i thought but not bad. Had a hard time figuring out how i wanted to carry it and ended up coming up with the idea of sewing on a rip away velcro backing to it and now it sits on my EDC belt. It fits nicely for that purpose and keep it on my belt while im at work since you can get hurt easily in the industrial industry. Wish they'd offer one with a belt attachment or a rip away accessory, feel like its a missed opportunity.
This is why I wear cargo shorts. Haha
If I wear jeans, I have to rely on my vehicle or backpack for medical supplies. Not ideal, but I put stuff in my vehicle, my family members’ vehicles and all my bags, so even if it’s not on my person it’s close enough. Worst case I hold pressure and throw my keys at someone. “Hey! You better come back with the blue bag with the yellow zippers!” 😂
That material is suuuuuper strong. It's the same material Snake Eater Tactical uses to mount their molle mag pouches, etc. I used them for a while and never had an issue with fray, tare, being cut, or ripping, etc. I wouldn't be worried at all about it, unless you straight up take a knife to it.
Would you do a video discussing the history and controversy about hemostatic agents?
Many of them are exothermic (they get hot once applied) OUCH!
RepublicAllegiance I believe thats not the case anymore, at least with the new celox and quikclot products, which are the more common brands. Apparently they dont heat up anymore

@@RepublicAllegiance I am not so sure that they are exothermic anymore. I remember this being a problem, but I think most products from Celox and QuikClot don't have this problem anymore. I might be wrong. I thin it is a bigger problem with the material traveling around the body and cause clots in places where they shouldn't. But I am not sure if this is still a problem...

The red rubber-ish material is probably hypalon. It's also used in the Crye JPC shoulder straps

I believe the orange pull tab is hypalon. Its used a lot in marine environments in the construction of rubber boats
Funny thing about the micro first aid kit I had to start carrying more band aids in my medic bag.. You'd be surprised at how many times I've been in the field and soldiers were surprised I didn't have any band aids. LOL

The swat T is $8, the cellox is $30, the bandaids and other crap is $4. Build your own kits guys, these pre made kits are way over priced for what you get.

I would sub the sof-t wide for the SWAT T... I've carried it for years in a flat fold configuration & it's smaller than the swat t

I purchased one today. I will replace the gloves with one Hyfin chest seal and one H&H Mini Compression Bandage. It might be slightly fat in the middle, but will still fit well in a jacket pocket or backpack side pocket.
I have EDC’ed this LTC kit for about a year and a half now. I made three changes to the kit; I replaced the SWAT-T with an H&H mini compression bandage (as I EDC a RATS tourniquet around my waist, thru my belt straps), I added a set of Hyfin mini chest seals, and I added two 6” pieces of Frog Tape into the boo-boo kit. These changes make the kit about 1/4” thicker than stock. I carry the kit almost always in a cargo pocket or occasionally a backpack. Never had issues with one handed opening or accessing anything inside. I have used the boo-boo kit numerous times, the compression bandage & compressed gauze twice, and the gloves a few times. Luckily I have never needed to use the tourniquet or chest seals in civilian life. The kit still looks great, besides a few scuffs and stains. The elastic is tight and not fraying. The hook & loop closure is still strong. The handle has held up, no tears. I think I paid $100 everything (kit plus additional items). Well worth it in my opinion!
The material is probably Hypalon. Its pretty tough stuff.
I bought a elastic M4 mag pouch for my dad to use as a smartphone pocket.
He has worn down one already. The elastic got snagged on stuff a few times and starts fraying and stretching down a big. After like 6 months.
But the super thin laser cut hypalon belt/MOLLE loops are still in good shape!

The "rubbery stuff" looks like Hypalon. A lot of nylon gear manufacturers are using this to reduce multiple layers of nylon.
I have to build my own first aid kid (ifak) since I have often forgotten my main medical kit in the car. I have used a chocolate eggshell and it has gone pretty well.
The experience makes me too confident for short walks to the point it can hurt :( I noticed I tend to intentionally forget my main medical kit in the car to save weight because "I can always jump back for it if needed".
By "short walks" I mean mountain trips for 1-2 kilometers away from the car. I have used to consider this a small distance but suddenly realized that depending on the injury it could turn to a "far distance".
Then I have started thinking of a solution. I have researched all mini medical kits. But then a problem occurs! As a difference to my mine medical kid where I have pills especially selected to my problems and often injuries all the kits that are sold out are with too basic equipment (bands, cotton, etc).
I realized I already have these basics and could build my own kit. But in that kit, I'll add all the pills and tools I need.
First I needed to find a stable and small enough box for it. Luckily my kids love chocolate eggs and I had a few plastic eggshells around. Get my main medical kit and start working.
And tadaa! I believe I have prepared one of the smallest and full IFAK kits ever.
(update: I have recently cut myself in the forest and this eggshell save me from bleeding)

Thanks for the review. It was mildly amusing to hear you discuss the virtue of being able to open the kit with one hand when there is nothing inside the kit which can be used with one hand. I suppose once could conceivably rip open the Celox container with one's teeth if necessary, but that's about it. This seems like an exercise in 'better than nothing' thought. I would add some chest seals to make it more trauma oriented and the gloves really ought to be sealed until needed. It is clear that some thought was given to the design process, so perhaps it is better than nothing but I'm not at all convinced it's anywhere near a $70 value.
Agreed with the comments on SWAT-T Tourniquet, but would add the * that they are good for younger/smaller patients which is an often overlooked med-prep. Excellent video, subbed.
I carry a NATO Tourniquet for EDC. Yes it isn’t the best thing you can carry for self application, but the Swat T isn’t either.
It is more flat and more Compact than any other TQ an it works for Adults, Kids and Animals.
It’s a little pricey 😳 now about the choking segment.....😎

Anything for making an IFAK easier to EDC im all for. I currently EDC for past 3 years an enhanced Adventure Medical Kit Trauma Pak Pro in my back pocket---wear Carhartt work pants daily---the friction/fabric wears on the components so you need to check monthly------I think this one has better containment method and will try it out. I tried the ankle kit carry but with living in snow/ice area---its not viable. Oh yeah---no issues with back pain long term---just butt irriated on long rides.
This is a really nice looking kit, reminds me of something from ITS Tactical.

I never understand the people who carry half a dozen tourniquets and no band aids. As well as an IFAK I carry a few band aids and 2 antiseptic wipes in my wallet. Lets fact it your never without that and they are handy and easy to grab.

Wayne Clarke a bandaid is a convenience item a tq is a life saving one.
a TQ, just that carrying one and no minor injury kit makes no sense. A small cut can lead in a serious infection.
99 people out a 100 will never use a TQ, you use a plaster a lot more often.

Good piece of gear. I have one with celox and stat tourniquet. since it's an edc ifak, a stat tourny is more user friendly esp uf someone else needs to apply it for you who isnt used to tournys.

Since it’s an elastic I think it’s probably best it stay sealed until needed or it could dry out and crack
I like to run a RATs through my belt loops. It’s a really easy way to carry a TQ even though it’s still not TCCC approved to my knowledge
There are VERY good reasons why RATs isn't TCCC approved. Number one is the width of the band, and doubling or tripling the band doesn't constitute a solid band and introduces a very high possibility of compartment syndrome. They are also a lot slower to apply and they don't apply as much pressure as a CAT tourniquet. I applaud your intentions, and I think you would be better off researching the RAT a little more and consider getting a CAT with a belt holster for it.

I personally cary a sof-t wide tourniquet on my person so taking the swat t out would save a lot of space for me personally. And I agree about the gloves but again if you take the swat t out then the gloves might be irrelevant at that point in the context of space/bulk. Just my opinion.
Any plans on looking at phlster? Their flatpack is a great way of carrying a tq, and their PEW is another great take on the pocket ifak.

Despite having watched 20+ first aid vids already (and having the first aid certificate in my country), I think I don't understand celox : wouldn't it be better to have regular gauzes that you can stuff in a perforating blleding wound, and then you put an israeli bandage on top?
When is it that it's better to have a celox bandage?

The Celox/Quikclot/kaolin hemostatic gauze is better for arterial wounds. Otherwise, they function the same as any other Z-Fold bandage.

Both the RATS and SWAT are pretty terrible TQs
Peds that don’t fit in a CAT TQ don’t need a TQ, a pressure bandage works just as well. Both the RATs and SWAT are not ideal TQs. The reason I find carrying a SWAT acceptable for my own practice is that it is a multi purpose tool.

Can I get your opinion on fire extinguisher in cars if you come across like car fire or anything are they good to have and and a really good first aid box if you ever need it. And where would you go to get training to use a fire extinguisher. I like them all houses should be equipped with one as well and smoke detectors.
Check with your local Emergency Management Office or Fire Department, and ask them about CERT classes.
Your local fire station might be able to give you some training, if anything just remember P.A.S.S . pull, aim, squeeze and sweep. pulling the pin, aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, squeeze the trigger and sweep back and forth. Also don't stand down wind you don't want that smoke.

It keeps your pockets free and not a lot of stuff on your belt. It's easy access if you're kneeling next to someone. Also, it's discrete.

The RATS is a hard no. It's garbage. CO-TCCC evaluated it and said no. When that happened the RATS made their own organization called US-TCCC and approved their own product to mislead people. It loosens and comes undone during patient movement. It has been shown to be substantially less effective then the CAT and SOFT-W and has been linked with much higher rates of tissue damage.

hamue1981 no. I would never recommend the Rats. Is not effective and causes undue injury and pain.

The phlster is just a bottom stitched sleeve. The ltc is way more thought out.
What about switching out the SWAT with a RATS?
I would advise against that. The SWAT T is evidenced based (although still not COTCCC approved due to self application limitations) and has been shown to be very effective in stopping blood flow quickly plus it is multi use and can be used as a pressure bandage. The RATS on the other hand is associated with high rates of soft tissue damage and is not as effective or reliable. Personally I would stay away from the RATS at all costs.
Iodine? How about allergies to shellfish or dye?? Not cool.
SWAT-T is underrated IMO.
Barriers such as gloves ARE for your protection AND any victims! They're the ones with the greatest risk anyway.
And a ziplock freezer bag for everything would work better too. That is what I always do.
CPRXPRT IL iodine allergies are pretty rare and even more rarely cause systemic reactions beyond some hives at the site of application. Plus just because you have an allergy to shellfish doesn’t mean you will have a reaction to iodine.
In a professional setting gloves are a must but this isn’t a kit for an ambulance it is an individual first aid kit. Unless you pack sterile gloves or have open cuts on your hands a pair of latex gloves are not going to protect your patient from anything. And your chances of infection are exceedingly low. Not saying you shouldn’t put them on if you have them but you won’t die from getting someone else’s blood on your skin.

CPRXPRT IL health care education preaches PPE because for a professional rescuer there is increased risk with repetition. I always wear gloves at work. But Getting blood on your skin is not considered and “exposure”, if it was I would be making reports on a weekly basis.
I think it’s garbage. Too bulky, remove the bandaids. This is major bleeding not booboos! I contact ITS Tactical just days ago. They’re updating they’re Slimline EDC pouch. It’ll allow the carry of a SWAT-T, Combat Gauze, Gloves and Vaseline Gauze. Maybe even include a RATS Gen 2.

Am all with carrying your kit on you, if you have it some place you are not, you will cuss yourself; think falling out of tree stand and bag is still in the stand. This carrier needs to have belt loop.
It has slots on the back for a malice clip, which can be looped on a belt or molle webbing

Not really. You can use the SWAT T as a bandage and the gauze as the pad even if you don't pack it.

More relevantly, why would you WANT to? I work a rig in New Orleans, hellhole of the South, but as comfottable as shorts would be, I wouldnt trade the barrier protection from some of the crap Im forced to wade through nightly.
