My personal opinion it's not a lack of information on the Internet it's a lack of people researching and a lack of knowledge about the animals given by the sellers of these animals. I knew nothing about bearded dragons went online found everything I needed to know and had a 15 year old bearded dragon that was scale and Bone and had never eaten vegetables and its life. I had him eating vegetables in three weeks and potty trained to poop in his bath water and then I rinse him thoroughly with warm water. Now his enclosure is always clean because he does not poop in it and he is a happy and healthy bearded dragon.
They all love to dump in a warm bath since it does get their innards moving especially when/if they swim. but if they're young and poop nearly everyday like mine (~5-6 months old), its not recommended to potty train them in a bath because a bath everyday can cause health problems. adults dont poop everyday so that wouldnt be such an issue. they do enjoy a clean home so when they do the "i gatta take a dump" dance which includes glass surfing or gentle head butts against the glass, you take them out, let them roam around till they dump it out. if they're adults put them right in a bath. veggies...you trick them into it. put their insects that dont move too fast like superworms, silk worms, nutrigrubs (black fly larvae), dubia roaches, etc, in their salad bowl. they'll eat through the salad to get to the insect. or accidentally grab some veggies. you can also do the ole switcharoo.. go to hand feed an insect then quickly place veggies in their mouth.

Sorry to hear about your dragon. Digestive issues are typically caused by internal parasites. Can lead to death for sure. Getting a fecal done early is key. It's important to get your dragon to a vet. when you see prolonged loss of appetite (outside of breeding), smelly, loose stools, blood in stool, darkening of the beard (outside of breeding signs), dragging of hind legs, etc.
Hey I love watching your episodes. You should make one about different diets for different age groups for beardies. I read several books, magazines, articles, but no one goes in to detail I know that most say you should feed them as much as they will eat in a 5 min span. How many times a day? How does it vary between age groups? I know 80% protein and 20% veggie for baby and then it flips when they reach maturity. changes slightly depending on breeders/vets, but what have you guys found? thanks.

guys this video was definitely worth the wait, it's funny that u said u got dragons now brumating b/c my male is doing the same thing but yeah it's always good to get a check up b/c parasites and brumation can have the same signs. always enjoy watching, looking forward for more videos

My juvenile bearded dragon is doing well, he is eating a lot and growing a lot but when I first got him he refused to eat for a while and I’ve taken him to the vet for that as well as. Taking him for symptoms of low calcium or mbd. but the vet said he was fine. Again my dragon has been great and hasn’t had any issues except.... he walks or stands on his wrist rather than his hands quite often. Whenever I go to set him down, he will stand on his wrist, I hate it. It worries me that he may have mbd?
Hi guys thanks for the great videos, I have two beardies and one is a baby about a month or two and the other is an adult and the adult bit the baby's leg, and I believe it is broken. Would there be any surgery possible to fix it or would it most likely be amputated? We haven't found any good vets that treat beardies in my area. Thank you
Lucas. Just keep a close eye on him for yellow fungus. Sometimes it really doesn't look "yellow". Just keep soaking and get as much natural sun. Skin should come off if it isn't anything more than that. Good luck!
Hello! I have a 4 month old bearded dragon, his name's Griffin. :) Anyways, Griffin has been perfectly fine other then slight lethargy on occassions, should I be worried?More info:He habitually poops once a day white urate and a log poop I have once seen diarrhea poop but it was gone the next day. He has a long Ubv, 100w heat lamp, and a 20g tank, I dust the crickets with calcium 6 days a week, feeding him collard greens and acorn squash daily (though he rarely touches it) and he gets A sugar snap pea as a treat. (Maybe once every week or so.) I keep a water dish in his cage. If you see anything I'm doing wrong or missing please politely bring this to my attention. ;)I am a new bearded dragon owner and it could be possible I'm worried for nothing, I tend to be a worry wart. Do you think anything could be wrong? Thanks!
I'm in this position right now. I think ours is around 2-4 months. Any tips? I have 40 gallon tank. Repti matt. (No substrates) temperature set right. He or she lol doesn't seem to go to the cool side as much. And he poops in the basking area

Hello, I have a 5 mos old beardie. As of late,he has this yellow color on his underside, around his beard to throat - shoulders and none on his belly. He has been eating fine, and pooping well all over the place. I'm just a bit worried whether this could be yellow fungus or not?
another important thing to look for in your beardie is heavy drool. That usually means mouth rot... I had to figure that one out on my own after spending over 6 hundred dollars and no diagnosis till I put the pieces together myself. Total nightmare. He is 7 years old and doing 90 percent better. There are no reptile specialists in my area. We had to drive five hours to get x-rays, blood work, fecal, ultra sound. She was an avian vet. So the internet saved my best buddies life. He was put on ceftadine ever 72hours. I ended up switching the vet prescribed pre-loaded needle and transferred meds to the U100 short needle that is used for insulin,. every time i went to give him the intramuscular injection he would "yelp" from the HUGE GAUGE NEEDLE. The vet finally agreed with my diagnosis,of infectious stomatitis. Only you know your reptile and what you did for him to get ill. Buy books on bearded dragons, and double check your husbandry. If i hadnt put him out in the hot Oregon sun in the back of my truck every day this past summer he would not have been able to fight this off well. Also, make sure you switch your buddy's food, variety.
My bearded dragon Luna is a little over a year now, and she has a puffy eye. It's not big like I've seen In pictures when I'll looked it up, and it's only under one eye(right eye). What does this mean, and should I see a vet?

I am doing my homework before getting my own rankin or bearded dragon. After handling dragons do you suggest washing hands afterwards? I hear humans can get salmonella.
If you're going to get a bearded dragon I suggest potty training it if you want to know how to potty train a bearded dragon let me know and I'll tell. I have carpet at the bottom of my bearded dragon's tank I know it sounds crazy but it's gorgeous and it's always clean. My bearded dragon never smells his tank never smells and I've always giving him kisses never once have I had salmonella and I don't wash my hands after handling him because he's clean. :-) the only way you would contraction salmonella from your beardie as if they're living their own feces and you're not bathing them frequently.
Also when handling your bearded dragon you should always make sure their front and back feet have a sturdy place to stand if your bearded dragon's tail is flailing that means it does not feel safe and it's unbalanced and it is scared this can cause a distrust and hurt the relationship by breaking the safety and Trust. they are little and if their tail is flailing their heart is racing! Do everything you can to bond with your dragon. I don't really like this video they don't give enough good tips and my bearded dragon never tries to run away from me like these ones are doing. He's always snuggling his head against me sniffing me cuddling up and also make sure you've got hammocks something cozy and soft blanky maybe something handmade and rock for them to perch on a stick for them to climb on they need things to do inside that tank and they need a place to hide. As bearded dragons also go into brumation. put yourself in their shoes how bored would you be if you couldn't get it out of your glass enclosure if there was nothing fun to do it would feel like prison. My 10-year-old bearded dragon snowflake, she often trips when walking and has trouble aiming with her tung to eat her food is this normal for oldish bearded dragons? also, she does that gulping thing, she sticks her head up and pulls in her beard a bit , but she doesn't have any of the other respiratory infection symptomes besides breathing heavily and taking long breaks before breaths
tivoGaming Nothing to worry about. Many bearded dragons will suck in air and hold their breath when they are in water or even afterwards for a bit. Tends to go away with age.

Hey pogonavision another question. Is it possible for me to overdose my dragons on calcium? I literally dust all of my vegetables and insects for my dragons everyday. I use the one that comes with D3. I especially see to that one of my dragons with mbd gets enough. Should I cut down on their calcium consumption?
EgyptianGod0 Your sub means they are on call for your questions 24/7? as far as being dead from a month of you sitting there with a thumb up your ass waiting for someone else to answer your question, I highly doubt that. I have bought 2 dragons and upon getting them found they hadn't had bulbs on them. They do now, but that because I did my own research and didn't wine and bitch when others didnt answer all of my questions.
Hey my bearded dragon looks like he goes into brumation, i took him to vet, and he said that he might just be sick. He almost do not eat, and all his symptoms are like brumation. But he is around 6-7month old. Can he go to brumation at that age? he started this behavior exactly at time it started to get cold outside.
Danny Mckee Hey Danny, no single answer here. Individual dragons are just that, individuals. They grow and different rates and some never get that large where others may end up weighing 700ish grams. Just important to watch your dragon and keep the weight in check with the length and don't overthink it.
Hi, I have a 10mnth old breadie named Iggy, she hasn't ate anything in 12days. she's lethargic, her poop looks like lite brown mucus and the part that is supposed to be white is yellow. I took to to the vet he couldn't find anything wrong but its hard where her stomach and liver are. he said it could be something stuck or cancer. he gave me a laxative to give to her. which Im on day two. and in her poop was blood and it was lite brown mucus with tiny white specs looks like sand particles. but she doesn't feel any better. I have papertowels as her floor. I rep glow 10.0 desert light. I bath her reg. I gut load her super worm and crickets she always has dark greens and veggies. Basking light. I keep her 50gal clean. I have no idea how she could have something stuck in her. I cut everything so small. I keep her warm. I thought it was parasites but its not. do u have any advice on what I can do to get her to start feeling better again. And is there any supplements that I could be giving her since she's not eating anything at all. please help thanks
hey guys I really hope I could get a reply my bearded dragon is 2 years old his name is gizmo :) and he is my baby. Tonight he has started to make a coughing/choking noise. he has never done this before today and it worries me, im hoping this isn't any sort of infection and was wondering if there could be any other causes? the choking noise is quite frequent like every 15/20 minutes and im not sure where I can take him that specialises in reptiles. thank you x
Definitely find a veterinarian. Sounds like an upper respiratory infection and most likely will need antibiotics. Make sure you check temperatures in his enclosure to make sure they are where they should be.
I am worried about my bearded dragon its stool is a bit watery and it does the gulping where it puff out its beard a few times it is aproximetly 5 months old and growing very fast its markings and coloration are very nice, i tried raising the tanks temp but it seems not to like that its typicly in th upper 80s in day an around 82 at night, i have uvb 200 florescent bulb, 150w ceramic emiter and 150 watt basking light with uvb it gets gut loaded banded crickets 3 times a day but lately ive been giving superworms and wax worms as a treat and now it wont eat but a few crickets also once a week it gets vegies usualy mustard greens, kale, parsley turnup greens, all well rinsed and crickets are powdered but last 2 weeks ive been using rapeshy cal and minerlal powder it aslo has been laying flat lately it didnt do that b4 please help
John, I don't understand what UVB you are using. 200? And your basking bulb is a 150 Watt mercury vapor bulb? You should be providing a basking site that gets to be around 100F-110F. You then should have a cool side of the enclosure that stays around 80F. Dragons should be fed veggies everyday. Once a week isn't nearly enough. Please view the other videos on here and I would recommend getting your dragon to the vet. and getting a fecal test done. If the dragon is coughing, it may be the early stages of an upper respiratory infection.
You should never be concerned about getting rid of "all" internal parasites. It is normal for a dragon to have them and they key is to make sure they never get out of control. Do you do your own fecals?
@@Pogonavision no sir. I've studied about Pogonas for 7 months before I got one. I have great temps, one big piece of tile for substrate (fits directly into my 40 breeder), and overall great husbandry. Them having worms no matter what threw me for a loop though. I keep my enclosure clean and KaFear also. I hate thinking about parasites though. He's only about 3 months old now so when do you recommend getting a fecal?
Great question and not an easy one to answer (at least for me). I tend to alternate with and without D3. It is a fat soluble vitamin. Good lighting and getting your dragons outdoors when you can is definitely better than having to supplement

I live in Canada, I realize that people don't explain enough about the eye infections and supplement and when to use it and feeding your bearded dragon . Feeding every two day is hard to watch. Just wondering If it is okay or not .Not giving the bearded dragon a bath.

Your beardie may or may not be in brumation. Brumation is when a cold blooded animal like bearded dragons hibernate. But this usually happens in the winter. I also live in California and its hot as heck right now in summer. If you want to search for a veterinary hospital, just try googling vets near you or in Modesto. They should show results of vets near you. Just call in and check if they can check on your bearded dragon. Good Luck!
make sure u have proper uvb lights and diet.i rescued an iguana and she had issues moving. I took her to vet she had water buildup in legs and scoliosis of the spine from the people who had her only using heat lamp
You shouldn't need more than a 60 bulb, anything higher than that is most likely way too hot. I leave my heat on as long as I do the UVB light which is about 12 hours each day, unless I am trying to breed them, but that's another subject for another day. They need UVB, I use RetiGlo 10.0 and leave it on between 10 - 14 hours a day. They Do Not need heat at night. The optimal temperature during the day is between 90 and 100 degrees, at night it should never drop below 69 degrees.
Carroll Adams I use a 150 watt basking bulb, it’s what I need to get the temps correct. Ya never know, every climate is different and tanks are different,so every tank/viv requires different things.

I feed him small crickets and mealworms that I dust with calcium I also feed him lettuce! So far I have only seen him eat one cricket and 3 Mealworms in 5 days!
You can keep a few females together. You can keep one male one female but it isn't recommended as they will reproduce and that isn't really recommended as there are too many already at the moment. Two or more males together will end up like the hunger games.... Not good. In summary if you want to keep 2 or more together go for all females :) Hope this helps!

Hello Pogonavison. I recently bought a baby bearded dragon. He's about 7 inches long from head to tail. I was wondering, how Manny crickets should I feed him? I feed him 2-3 when I get up in the morning so around 7 Am. Then 2-3 when I get home, Which is around 3PM . It would help so much for a reply. Thank you

Hello, I have a 5 mos old beardie. As of late,he has this yellow color on his underside, around his beard to throat - shoulders and none on his belly. He has been eating fine, and pooping well all over the place. I'm just a bit worried whether this could be yellow fungus or not?

another important thing to look for in your beardie is heavy drool. That usually means mouth rot... I had to figure that one out on my own after spending over 6 hundred dollars and no diagnosis till I put the pieces together myself. Total nightmare. He is 7 years old and doing 90 percent better. There are no reptile specialists in my area. We had to drive five hours to get x-rays, blood work, fecal, ultra sound. She was an avian vet. So the internet saved my best buddies life. He was put on ceftadine ever 72hours. I ended up switching the vet prescribed pre-loaded needle and transferred meds to the U100 short needle that is used for insulin,. every time i went to give him the intramuscular injection he would "yelp" from the HUGE GAUGE NEEDLE. The vet finally agreed with my diagnosis,of infectious stomatitis. Only you know your reptile and what you did for him to get ill. Buy books on bearded dragons, and double check your husbandry. If i hadnt put him out in the hot Oregon sun in the back of my truck every day this past summer he would not have been able to fight this off well. Also, make sure you switch your buddy's food, variety.

+Chloe&Luna i have seen them get whats like cysts under their eyes....they are mostly benign but can get large and effect their vision....take him to a vet asap its best to deal with them when they are small and can be laser off

If you're going to get a bearded dragon I suggest potty training it if you want to know how to potty train a bearded dragon let me know and I'll tell. I have carpet at the bottom of my bearded dragon's tank I know it sounds crazy but it's gorgeous and it's always clean. My bearded dragon never smells his tank never smells and I've always giving him kisses never once have I had salmonella and I don't wash my hands after handling him because he's clean. :-) the only way you would contraction salmonella from your beardie as if they're living their own feces and you're not bathing them frequently.
Also when handling your bearded dragon you should always make sure their front and back feet have a sturdy place to stand if your bearded dragon's tail is flailing that means it does not feel safe and it's unbalanced and it is scared this can cause a distrust and hurt the relationship by breaking the safety and Trust. they are little and if their tail is flailing their heart is racing! Do everything you can to bond with your dragon. I don't really like this video they don't give enough good tips and my bearded dragon never tries to run away from me like these ones are doing. He's always snuggling his head against me sniffing me cuddling up and also make sure you've got hammocks something cozy and soft blanky maybe something handmade and rock for them to perch on a stick for them to climb on they need things to do inside that tank and they need a place to hide. As bearded dragons also go into brumation. put yourself in their shoes how bored would you be if you couldn't get it out of your glass enclosure if there was nothing fun to do it would feel like prison. You need to feed snowflake more calcium and d3 and you Maybe need to change the bulb for your uvb light

Lots of reasons a dragon can get an eye infection. Need to see a vet and get eye drops or gel. Ciprofloxacin is often prescribed.
There isn't a lot of vets that would take reptiles so its hard to make sure if the reptiles are okay

tivoGaming Nothing to worry about. Many bearded dragons will suck in air and hold their breath when they are in water or even afterwards for a bit. Tends to go away with age.

Hey pogonavision another question. Is it possible for me to overdose my dragons on calcium? I literally dust all of my vegetables and insects for my dragons everyday. I use the one that comes with D3. I especially see to that one of my dragons with mbd gets enough. Should I cut down on their calcium consumption?

Yes, they are completely different wavelengths. Dragons need their UVB

I have bought 2 dragons and upon getting them found they hadn't had bulbs on them. Danny Mckee Hey Danny, no single answer here. Individual dragons are just that, individuals. They grow and different rates and some never get that large where others may end up weighing 700ish grams. Just important to watch your dragon and keep the weight in check with the length and don't overthink it.

If you have any concerns, yes. If all appears well, I wouldn't bother. An annual exam is always a good idea.
Hi, I have a 10mnth old breadie named Iggy, she hasn't ate anything in 12days. she's lethargic, her poop looks like lite brown mucus and the part that is supposed to be white is yellow. I took to to the vet he couldn't find anything wrong but its hard where her stomach and liver are. he said it could be something stuck or cancer. he gave me a laxative to give to her. which Im on day two. and in her poop was blood and it was lite brown mucus with tiny white specs looks like sand particles. but she doesn't feel any better. I have papertowels as her floor. I rep glow 10.0 desert light. I bath her reg. I gut load her super worm and crickets she always has dark greens and veggies. Basking light. I keep her 50gal clean. I have no idea how she could have something stuck in her. I cut everything so small. I keep her warm. I thought it was parasites but its not. do u have any advice on what I can do to get her to start feeling better again. And is there any supplements that I could be giving her since she's not eating anything at all. please help thanks

hey guys I really hope I could get a reply my bearded dragon is 2 years old his name is gizmo :) and he is my baby. Tonight he has started to make a coughing/choking noise. he has never done this before today and it worries me, im hoping this isn't any sort of infection and was wondering if there could be any other causes? the choking noise is quite frequent like every 15/20 minutes and im not sure where I can take him that specialises in reptiles. thank you x
Definitely find a veterinarian. Sounds like an upper respiratory infection and most likely will need antibiotics. Make sure you check temperatures in his enclosure to make sure they are where they should be.
yes if it is a choking sound then that is bad but if it is a cough which is kind of like a hiss then you should be fine

I am worried about my bearded dragon its stool is a bit watery and it does the gulping where it puff out its beard a few times it is aproximetly 5 months old and growing very fast its markings and coloration are very nice, i tried raising the tanks temp but it seems not to like that its typicly in th upper 80s in day an around 82 at night, i have uvb 200 florescent bulb, 150w ceramic emiter and 150 watt basking light with uvb it gets gut loaded banded crickets 3 times a day but lately ive been giving superworms and wax worms as a treat and now it wont eat but a few crickets also once a week it gets vegies usualy mustard greens, kale, parsley turnup greens, all well rinsed and crickets are powdered but last 2 weeks ive been using rapeshy cal and minerlal powder it aslo has been laying flat lately it didnt do that b4 please help
John, I don't understand what UVB you are using. 200? And your basking bulb is a 150 Watt mercury vapor bulb? You should be providing a basking site that gets to be around 100F-110F. You then should have a cool side of the enclosure that stays around 80F. Dragons should be fed veggies everyday. Once a week isn't nearly enough. Please view the other videos on here and I would recommend getting your dragon to the vet. and getting a fecal test done. If the dragon is coughing, it may be the early stages of an upper respiratory infection.
Can you get rid of all pinworms?
You should never be concerned about getting rid of "all" internal parasites. It is normal for a dragon to have them and they key is to make sure they never get out of control. Do you do your own fecals?
@@Pogonavision no sir. I've studied about Pogonas for 7 months before I got one. I have great temps, one big piece of tile for substrate (fits directly into my 40 breeder), and overall great husbandry. Them having worms no matter what threw me for a loop though. I keep my enclosure clean and KaFear also. I hate thinking about parasites though. He's only about 3 months old now so when do you recommend getting a fecal?

Great question and not an easy one to answer (at least for me). I tend to alternate with and without D3. It is a fat soluble vitamin. Good lighting and getting your dragons outdoors when you can is definitely better than having to supplement

Hey Mary! I would only recommend a ceramic heater at night if your house gets below 68F.

Your beardie may or may not be in brumation. Brumation is when a cold blooded animal like bearded dragons hibernate. But this usually happens in the winter. I also live in California and its hot as heck right now in summer. If you want to search for a veterinary hospital, just try googling vets near you or in Modesto. They should show results of vets near you. Just call in and check if they can check on your bearded dragon. Good Luck!

make sure u have proper uvb lights and diet.i rescued an iguana and she had issues moving. I took her to vet she had water buildup in legs and scoliosis of the spine from the people who had her only using heat lamp

You shouldn't need more than a 60 bulb, anything higher than that is most likely way too hot. I leave my heat on as long as I do the UVB light which is about 12 hours each day, unless I am trying to breed them, but that's another subject for another day. They need UVB, I use RetiGlo 10.0 and leave it on between 10 - 14 hours a day. They Do Not need heat at night. The optimal temperature during the day is between 90 and 100 degrees, at night it should never drop below 69 degrees.
Carroll Adams I use a 150 watt basking bulb, it’s what I need to get the temps correct. Ya never know, every climate is different and tanks are different,so every tank/viv requires different things.

You can keep a few females together. You can keep one male one female but it isn't recommended as they will reproduce and that isn't really recommended as there are too many already at the moment. Two or more males together will end up like the hunger games.... Not good.
In summary if you want to keep 2 or more together go for all females :)
