I am a very visual person who has a hard time picturing what something will look like until I see it. So mapping is the absolute hardest part of this for me. Characters, story, dialog, quests, events, etc. all seem easy compared to mapping! Thanks for breaking things down and offering additional insight and perspective. I just can’t believe RPG Makers first came out so long ago and I never discovered them! I would have started doing this 30 years ago! But better late to the game than never! Thanks again for these.
I know its an old video but i wanna talk about what you said around minute 26:00 isnt it odd that you "plan" as a developer - even in a free, open world - to hinder and limit a players choices by blocking this laval-region with mountains? i mean, in the end you could make it possible to access even in the very beginning of teh game but make the enemies very hard no offense! but i just realised that by watching your video, that alot of games are going teh same way as you went here. sorry for the bad english. entertaining videos so far!
Really what you are describing here is the debate between reality and the illusion of choice. Both situations involve gating off sections of the game in order to keep the player on track. In my case, I made it apparent what was intended at a glance. It's not likely a player is going to make the mistake of thinking that that direction is the way they are supposed to go. The can clearly see they can't get over there yet. In your situation, it requires the player to venture over there and learn the hard way that's not the intended path. While both have their pros and cons, both are valid ways of design. It's up to you to decide which is the best way to present your intended progression to your player for your specific project.
ok i will check it. things i want to know about a lot more is creating new tileset, character, sprite,... and import them to the game properly, it would be nice if you have done that
"The tectonic plates form like the contents broke apart. Like Africa and South America." It's because they were one continent that spilt apart. Science. Tutorial is good tho. Thx.

"Rivers exist in the real world"
You could have used dead trees for the volcanic region, just to make the statement it's not like moving to another planet.

btw can you actually make an rpg without a world map like earthbound in rpg maker?
Yea! Just completely up to you
It seems like the transitions between terrain are a bit rough but that is just me nit-picking.
Ободаю твой канал.. 🤝👌👍
I don't even have rpg maker I'm just trying to get an idea of how I should make my world map in a rpg I'm making with gamemaker
A lot of the same principals still apply!
Are you intending on doing some Rpg MV tutorials? I dont use vx
I've switched to mv as of episode 7. Though everything I have taught so far is basically the same in both VX Ace and MV

The Island To The Right Looks Dead On Like A Boot
What is seen cannot be un-seen.
You have a Trex in a shoe going after a fish.
Make Icebergs to *"Titanic"* the $h!7 out of the players! ;P :D
To be honest you do remind me of another youtuber called "Lockstin & gnoggin"
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? :P
It's actually funny. xD
+robin thoelen Alright then :p
how can you access this in game
