Two good ideas that I think I will probably use: 1. All indoors in one map space making the overall structure simpler, especially in a large game. 2. Not doing the sides or front of the room, which does give rooms a strikingly interesting look. Nice one. Thank you for the excellent video. A great help again.
Very nice. This gave me a lot to think about. I am still new and going through tutorial series, but this is the first time I saw all the interiors on one map for the town and the one wall thing. From other comments, that seems like it surprised a few people. Very interesting idea that I will experiment with. I can see the value. And I think I noticed you copying and pasting portions of your interior when you were editing it rather than replacing each tile separately. That is a good time saver. Thanks for this great video!
Wow... excellent tutorial. Some great ideas, including things I never thought about. I will definitely include you in the credits of my game for your awesome tutorials guides.
Thx man. Ik it's weird but I'm 14 and I love in a fantasy world I made a map and pretend I lived there. I found out about the game and got it and played with it. It was very hard at first but then I got it. And you saved me hours of messing around😂 So yeah thx man ur a life saver
I'm making my item shop but once i click buy potion it just buys 1 how do I make the npc ask me how many potions would I like to buy? can anyone help me with this thank you.
That's the primary benefit yea. It's mostly a workflow/best practices thing. It also helps if you have it set up so that the player's location is shown on the menu/map/etc, as these often go off of the name of the map. So if you have the map with all the buildings named the same as the town they are in, it all appears as one name for uniformity sake. If that makes any sense.
@@BenderWaffles Ah, ya that makes sense! Most of my maps have a fair amount of events on them tho, since the NPCs are time sensitive and come and go often so i probably wouldn't benefit too much from this, might make map-specific cutscenes more complicated to setup. its sort of " harvest moon/stardew valley " esq. speaking of map names tho, do you happen to know if its possible to move where the map name pops up? My tools/time/HP UI all shows up on the upper left, any way to make the position of the map name show up either below those or on the right instead? as it is right now, it pops up on top of my other stuff and its hard to notice and looks bad if you do lol
@@StarlightBettaGamer there are different menu system plugins that will affect stuff like that, but off the top of my head I can't think of any specific ones. Taking a look at a few different options and where they position stuff might lead you to one that works.
@@BenderWaffles alrighty. I've mostly got the visustella plugins going right now, with a couple others here and there but nothing i know of affects that specifically. could always post to the forums i suppose, i'm sure someone knows :0
Hello, does this thing work on ANY RPGmaker? I have the VX version. But I would rather to create different interiors for a place, why sohouldnt I? I am not sure I got it correctly. May you explain better, please? ^^ Thank you. REason: English isn't my native language.
hey when i lay my rugs down it wont let my player walk through it... it looks like its indented into the ground im putting it on.... did i layer something wrong?
+Garrett Christenson Hmmm...Not sure. Do you mind posting a link to a screen shot of your map editor so I can see what your situation looks like? It can also be sent to me in a private message here on RUclips if you would prefer to keep it private
Great content. Just a quick question. So I noticed when you are placing blocks of tiles you just click once. For me when I am placing blocks of tiles, I have to click and drag when placing them? Its prob something easy I am not doing. Just curious. Makes life easier.
1st of all, I love this commentary! 2nd of all, can anybody give me tips on what to do with this map? www.dropbox.com/s/iqvzeuau2po52yp/Map004.png?dl=0 3rd of all, I keep getting this "Failed to execute 'drawImage' on 'CanvasRenderingContext2D': The HTMLImageElement provided is in the 'broken' state."
Maps are messy,.. and buildings are only half height, why? and stone wall to left end you won't be able to walk up to without stopping, also the grass shouldn't be showing up under the pavement all around the edges! OMG this guy has a lot of fixes to do!! other than that it looks great, (LMAO!!) That's what I get every time I make maps and games and i been signing shit now for 6 years! People are assholes and way too God dam critical, it's just a fucking game people, so grow up!! Who fucking cares if it doesn't look perfect.
Ah, I didn't consider putting all the interiors in the same map space. Nice move, that will make the sorting maps a lot easier, thanks.

these were some pretty invaluable tips, thanks!
My thing is my title are auto forming the corners of the same title like it did with the first wall. It cuts off either side.
There's also A third where you leave the front walls out to avoid having to mimic the outside front of the house. I.E. Windows
Your stuff seems pretty great.
Thanks for the vids!

+BenderWaffles I'll be there :)
port town.... you can press shift to remove the green borders above the Wall.
Yep! Shift mapping. It's something not a lot of people talk about but it's a useful tool
why put all interiors in the same map?
if you didnt then you could put display names.
It's an organizational choice. you could definitely separate them. This way just works best for me personally :)

What's the benefit to adding multiple " maps " on a single map? just so there are less of them to sift through in the list? or something else?

I wanted to go for the first style you showed. Unfortunately the player cant move behind the bottom wall. What can I do about this?
You can edit the movement permissions of the tiles, beyond that not much.
Thank you a lot for the videos! I'm watching everything from the start now, I just did the world map part here's the result:

Help, my game crashes whenever I go into the interior map, anyone has any advice?
I'm a beginner with RPG maker but. maybe start over making that map? Definitely sounds like a glitch. And probably do some more troubleshooting.
how to delete when you pressing the roof
What do you mean?
BenderWaffles how do you get the interior tile set?
BenderWaffles, i know it is a bit late for a question, but how do i put a chimney like you have on ur building outside on vx ace?
It's an element within the tileset that looks like a chimney. Just get creative with how you use your tiles and you'll figure out a way that works!
