The crazy thing is I bet some people decided to recite the incantation to help. I recently watched this and it was scarier than I imagined. I feel Asian cinema always does the messing with your mind route and it always gets me. Another good reaction vid from you both.

during the last part I kept reciting Amituofo lol not taking a chance
as a 'curse' movie its very effective. i'm not religious or anything but it still gave me chills. imagine is a true buddhist watched this. the movie derives from buddhism and turns it on its head.
i was so relieved when the actors went on record and said it’s all made up even the chant meant nothing as well as the symbol lmaooo
True Buddhist practitioners would instant recite blessings and protections. Note that every religions is somewhat similar in some ways of their curses and myths.
I feel Asians have some of the most scary ones due to buddhism is very very..... religious and wide spread. To India, Japan, China, etc.
It's hella scary when asian horror is involved.
@@koreancowboy42 as a buddhist it actually wasnt as scary as i expected.
I guess knowing about Buddhism's origins really didnt help me to suspend my disbelief to truly enjoy the movie; ontop of being a Theravada buddhist (a type of buddhism where, instead of worshipping Buddha as a god, we practice his teachings). So I couldnt entirely wrap my head around how some of the characters worship the Mother-Buddha idol/figure
Really fun movie though, and the world-building was super interesting ontop of seeing how they twisted the practices of other types of Buddhism
there are a lots of hints that the more u think about it, the more scared u are
One scene that I really like is the one which those god statues turned their back to ruonan
It means that because ruonan break the promise that don’t give dodo anything to eat, even the gods don’t willing to help her anymore

Asian horror and especially it being themed like this hits different. Had to look up the chant. Same goes for the 8th night. Love it, tickles my mind.
Trypophobia (don't google it, eye bleach) is the fear of holes, it's one of my biggest fears. It's like genjutsu man, it's awful.

I watched this movie and it totally reminds me of the asian horror of the early 2000s when chain letters culture was huge especially because of Ringu.

So funny story relating to the recording trouble you guys had at the end, I watched this the morning after I got my wisdom teeth out. When I eventually got up, I started to feel lightheaded to the point that I nearly passed out, even going blind and deaf for a short moment.

it's about cult movie in Taiwan, and the story of the movie is based on the true story happened in Kaohsiung Taiwan, a whole family of 5 members self-claimed they were all possessed by "Gods", and started to self-harm, fight each other, burn each other with incenses, even eat shxts only for few days, cause they believed by doing these can exorcise those "Gods", until they found their older sister has "confirmed" dead for like couple of days

This movie is definitely one of my favourite horror movies. The scariest part for me is the scare factor of possibly being cursed. This movie made me really feel uncomfortable for a while after watching it. Even woke up in sweats because of this movie. Lol. (Watched it a second time though, because 1: I'm a royal dumbass and 2: I find it intriguing.)
I love Japanese and South Korean horror movies they make some of the scariest and most disturbing movies in the world. Three of favorite are Audition, Train to Busan and The Wailing. Audition is by far one of the most disturbing movies movies I've seen in the past 20 years. Train to Busan's one of the greatest zombie movies of all time and The Wailing is truly terrifying. All 3 are a must see for any fan of horror movies.

Best part was I watched this with friends, they had a plan where they would see the invisible things that domdom could see, while I was clueless and could'nt see. Tehn they made up the plan of telling me to say the ritual words with them, otherwise I'll get cursed for not doing that. I actually started freaking out when I forgot to say the words as it started flashing, while 3 of my friends started saying it

Especially when religion/buddhism involved you better start praying 🙏 and wish yourself luck and protection.
I swear asian horror films be pushing it out there xD.... also never recite anything from the movies or films dont know if it can be really bad especially when the two expert Shamans/monks said "reciting this is not meant to receive blessings"
Also whether your a believer of religion or not, and that being skeptical isnt bad but rather you should be careful when involving yourself with anything related to religious.
Could cause bad luck or bad karma you dont know when, but you'll see it happen.
This is why i kinda think asian horror they hit different
Also they arent wrong about Shamans, monks who do these like blessings, protections and exorcisms or something their lives could be endangered cuz doing these sorts of things can potentially harm them and those close to them if it ends badly.
Even more so lots of speculations and people say different but depends what you believe in

I think I need to go cleanse myself bc this was wayyy to realistic , people don’t realise that this shit actually does happen in soooo many dark cultural practices around the world. Magic and dark juju has been here for years and years , some things are best left out of cinemas - but great reaction tho 🤣🥲
Thankfully the curse used wasn't a real one. They made it up. But things like this really do exist, which is why I'm always careful when watching these sorts of things. I'd prefer not to accidentally open a gate to hell, yanno?
