    My IWC UTC Pilot watch has a problem - the hour hand always stops at about 10 O'Clock, even though the minute and second hand continue to work fine. It's over 20 years old, should I send it to IWC service center or a watch repairman who works on higher priced watches, which would certainly be cheaper than the IWC service center. Would appreciate some advise from the community.

    I generally like the royal oak offshore, but oh man they’re snots in their boutiques. Visited an AP boutique in Q1 2024 and I found them pretentious and exclusive (to the point I don’t really want one anymore, well maybe lol). Odd behaviour, given that not just anyone can afford one at the boutique - I’ll never return, which means that if I buy one it’ll be from an after-market dealer.

    I find it interesting that the question about Union watches comes on the heels of Teddy Baldassarre's video release of his visit to their production facility in Glashutte. In all fairness, I never heard of Union either until Teddy release his video this week. Although their movements are ETA based, they're fully hand assembled and I believe their designs are very unique. I like their design ties to motorsport. I wouldn't be surprised if Teddy becomes Union's first AD on this side of the pond. I definitely hope to learn more about smaller manufactures like Union from the various horological experts on the Interwebs.
    As for AP, it's douchbaggery for douchbags! Never liked AP, probably never will. I'm trying to wrap my head around how they care consider one of the holy trinity.

    Dismissing high interest rates when you’re in a retail business is nuts. You may not be borrowing capital but most of your customers most definitely will be, mortgages, holidays, purchasing expensive watches etc, when the belt gets tightened, purchasing unnecessary luxuries will stop. Then you have the spin of that affects the price of fuel, gas, electricity etc. If interest rates continue to climb the country could end up in a recession. Anyone who is in business and dismisses higher interest rates with “I don’t give two shits” remark is extremely foolish. I still love your channel though.

    • @mattwasilewicz9677
      @mattwasilewicz9677 Месяц назад +1

      I mostly agree with this. However, being in the secondary market somewhat shields this business model from what you described. Not fully, but partially. In 1st stage retail, the brands have their set price, and won't deviate from that. But in secondary, as rates rise and demand drops, so does the prices that he can get inventory at, sometimes at blowout pricing. Thus, he can sell at a much cheaper price, finding more buyers. Even in a weak market, there is always a buyer at the right price. Especially with a lower overhead online only business model like this, as long as he can get inventory for less and less, he should still be able to move product. The ones who will suffer will be the over leveraged businesses, and the ones selling brands with weak demand at full retail. Recession also doesn't last forever, making it the best time to load up on inventory at cheap prices if you are sitting on cash!

    It’s not a good business model for AP to keep it hard to get. Reducing production numbers does make sense to reduce labor costs.
    So producing less pieces means demand is way down, means false scarcity of their product. Doesn’t make them more exclusive, but all perception I guess. Everyone are such suckers to these hype brands
