Been watching Michael Morgan for several years now and recently I’ve been enjoying your Tennessee quality video. And Mike never says “good morning FRIENDS”! I appreciate your polite approach to everything.
Either owning a saw mill, or having a big RUclips channel is definitely lucrative. I’ve never seen a small private business spend so much capital. Nicely done fellow Tennessean!
Great wood there,,before long ill no how to run a mill..i think..i got the circle saw down pat...one guy i watch has a vert band saw,,man is it fast... i like them all...enjoy to watch a guy talk about his saw..you sure have to take care of them i know that..lot of moving parts..
Very interesting tip for all those people with a sawmill when it comes to the regular lubrication of the guide runner. The quarter sawn white oak is pretty special. Thanks for sharing Nathan. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
It has become somewhat of a tradition for me here to open up the day with a visit to my friend Nathan in Tennessee. Great start to the day and I thank you for giving me more things to learn! Good luck with the storms! We had a night with about 4 inches of rain but a good deal of the snow from the other day is gone. We'll have to watch for flooding.
Quarter sawn white oak is spectacular Nathan! No wonder the Arts and Crafts Movement chose this wood for their Beautiful furniture. One of my favorite styles. Kind Thanks and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Good morning Coffee ☕️ video with OTW Sawmill & Kiln. I saw a lot of high water videos coming from friends in Tennessee. I hope you’re all keeping safe & dry. Gorgeous Log. He will be very pleased.
Your videos are just fabulous to watch, so relaxing and enjoyable as you go about your business, Hope the rain isn't too torrential. Have a great weekend.
That's a great nut and bolt setup. It's just like at my local hardware store. Remember to keep your old hardware. Old nuts and bolts in a can has saved my butt hundreds of times.
Brings back memories of working in a rubbber manufacturing plant. The fine print says to use 'kitty litter' to pick up oil spills. Well, if one is in a hurry, pickup the rubber dust from using the machine with the saw blades, the dust very quickly absorbs the oil. Not quite OSHA approved, but worked very well.
I really enjoyed watching your quarter sawing video. I didn’t know there was such a thing as medullary rays. But beautiful boards. Thanks for the educational lesson.
I normally let the motor run for 5 min before I charge the oil. Makes it warm and runs out quick. But I still wait at least 30 min. Good content as always. All the best for the to you and yours.
Good day, Nathan! Love your sense of humor and your corny jokes. Do NOT ever change! Some of us are the same kind of folk. Former production sawmill worker here. Have been seeing you and some of the other folks sawing and I feel right at home with all of you. I like to check in with you often and see what you're up to. Keep after it, friend!
For applying oil or ATF to the rail, how about a small tank with a wiper on the rail connected with a small tube with a cut-out valve. Keep the tank topped up open the valve just before sawing and close the valve at the end of sawing; problem solved.
We used to add a little diesel fuel to our oil (1/2 qt.) for an half hour before changing the oil in our diesel motor. Really helps reduce any carbon build up.
May help. On the bolt, washer, nut trays. On the top of the bin, take a refrig magnet and place it on top of the bin. That will hold the lid of the drawer up for you while in use and saves on mashed fingers. Keep up the good job up there. I'm down in Maryville (Blount Co.)
hey nathen youtube seems to pay better than milling lumber and looking at your tool kit for a one man operation you got more tools and other gear than my local garage who has 20 employees
Another great video. Much thanks. Glad that the odious bucket is gone. Now you will need another excuse for wetting your trousers. At my age, l do not need an excuse.
How can one “hate” metric? Me thinks the hate is more the problem of dealing with two separate measuring systems. Best solution, go for the easier system. Anyway almost all of our machinery now is metric, so investing in metric accessories makes more sense. I have been converting all my measuring tools to metric, and work in metric whenever I can. Truly is a lot easier, and more accurate.
Nice bolt bin! A few things though my friend; you will use a hundred SAE grade 5s to every grade 8. Be sure to match nut grades as well. Metric...well, there's DIN (Euro) and JIC (Oriental)- never the twain shall meet! (Generally NOT interchangeable). On top of that- Chinese??? Love your channel- good luck!
I am afraid to say that I am too dumb to understand the benefits of quarter sawing as it seems that there is a lot of waste due to so many of the edges being not at right angles to the flat face.
Now, I know you are a smart man. Why would you use a brush that is 10 times too big for the job, and apply 10 times the oil needed, for the job? A cheap 2 inch paint brush would do it just as good. You're not slopping syrup on pancakes! Why not rig up a drip applicator with a soda bottle and a small valve and make it automatic and let it do the job hands free? Save oil and time while lubing the rail. Attach a small paint brush that sweeps the rail as the saw moves and drip the oil into the brush!
An interesting (at least to me ) is a proposed connection between the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon and the decrease in availability of the white oak: Passenger pigeons were hunted to extinction within the last 120 years and their demise has directly or indirectly led to a shift in America's forest composition. Another RUclips content presenter has expressed it far more eloquently than I can so I would leave you with: The History Guy: "How the Extinction of a Species Affected Whisky Production" ruclips.net/video/b8BPANZzsyU/видео.html
Nathan I hope you read my apology on one of your videos .I said things with tounge in cheek, did not think the comments would bother you.GOD BLESS.BOBBY
I subscribed to your channel roughly 3 years ago. Your channel brought me peace with it's music and your passion for what you do. I especially appreciated when you admired God's artist hand in nature. Now days, much of your videos are about your "new" equipment and corporate sponsors. And I'm sorry to say, I personally feel you've lost your roots, what drove you to start this channel in the first place.
I still don't understand quarter sawing.and why it's different. I've watched most of your videos for 3 yrs. And still to this day don't understand. Can you explain it in more detail in a different video pls!

I usually run the engine until its warm before draining the oil, that way it drains better!
Good to know!
Keep safe and stay warm!
Here in western NC that rain was awfully & caused lots of flooding and one fatality that I know of, maybe more.
If you had included the cheese balls, I would have been interested in the ATF kit Nathan. 😋 Great video thumbs up.
I think it's really cool with the cheese ball & hobo freight brush. Too cool!
Thanks for the video Nathan. Please watch yourself with the storms. May God bless.
Thank you, I will

Wow 4in?? That’s a lot of water
Looked good Nathan. Enjoyed the Quartersawn lumber and servicing Mr. Kato. Hope you are safe during those storms. Catch on the next video. Fred.
Thanks, you too!

Nice white oak Nathan. Stay safe.
Maybe back Mr Kato onto a par of 6x6 or 8x8s so you can fit under easier?
My LT35 thanks you for the ATF brush application tip!
Happy to help!

Good morning! we got a lot of rain but it wasn't too bad, the wind was rough, hope your doing well buddy
Looks like you hit the jackpot on that wood 🪵 very nice 👍 looking grain !!
Thanks 👍
Mr. E your speed is fine, don’t change. Another killer video. Great editing and sweet tunes!
Great video as always, thanks
Thanks for watching!

Nice set-up. I like your "warehousing" of supplies.
Thanks!
That's pretty smart brother now I know where l can come to get a bolt, screw, washer and nuts😂

Thanks as always for your videos
Glad you like them!
I thought you were unboxing some Joe Main Silver-tip Turbo Sevens! 😁
Maybe one day!
Hey, the lumber Yoda says hi! 😊
Nathan, do you have international shipping to Australia on that kit??
.
.
😂😂😂 love your videos thank you.
GREAT IDEA. We are also going to use it on our few splitter rails.
Excellent!
Diesel Creek! Ha! Great sticker on your box and great channel. You’re doing great, keep up the great content.
Thanks 👍
If you own a Ford or Chevy truck, you also need Metric bolts and nuts on hand.
Love seeing sawing videos.
I really enjoyed watching your quarter sawing video. I didn’t know there was such a thing as medullary rays. But beautiful boards. Thanks for the educational lesson.
Glad you enjoyed it!
If I am not mistaken those bolt trays and racks for them were made 1/4 mile up the street from my house at Durham MFG . Good solid stuff !
I think so
Easy to see why that's the high dollar stuff. Can't find that at The Dollar Store!
Love the maintenance videos. Keep em coming
Thanks! Will do!
Favorite tree on my property, about a 70’ white oak 💚
I normally let the motor run for 5 min before I charge the oil. Makes it warm and runs out quick. But I still wait at least 30 min. Good content as always. All the best for the to you and yours.

I appreciate that!
Very cool video, so glad we can help! Thank you Nathan!!
Any time!
Use one of those ink dobbers they use at bingo. Fill it with ATF. Works great no mess only on rails
You should get 2 thick boards as wide as your tracks to drive up on to give you more room to work under just saying
Ya gotta have imperial and metric nuts, bolts and washers. It’s Been that way for decades here in the U.S.A.
Always something to do.
Agreed
Very nice boards. Hope you remember to put oil back in mr kato. He’d be pretty dehydrated if not. Lol
Oh yes!
Nice cut Nathan. Good video as always.
Thanks 👍
Interesting discussion on quarter sawing. It’s hard to find these days, probably because it is hard to produce. Many thanks
Sponsor this great American!😊
How awesome bro 👍👍
Thanks ✌️
One inch is 2.5cm, one foot is about 30cm, for your international RUclips market.😉
Coffee can and a paint brush probably work better
isn't that the same thing?
No not really you wouldn't need that big bulky container and you could control where your putting it alot better
Nathan looks great 👍 and you are taking care of Mr kato 😮😊❤
Yes we are
For applying oil or ATF to the rail, how about a small tank with a wiper on the rail connected with a small tube with a cut-out valve. Keep the tank topped up open the valve just before sawing and close the valve at the end of sawing; problem solved.
A lot of waste, use a quart bottle of ATF drill a 1/8" hole in the center of the cap and squeeze out on the rail.
can I borrow a drill bit?
How about using a small pump sprayer for your rail sprayer..
I see a lot of youtubers getting boltsandnut to sponsor them and they get a big self of bolts and nuts.
Yeah me too.
man a Folger's coffee can has hand holts on them make it easier to hold
dont forget to fill mr kato with oil
You need a floor jack to help you change oil in Mr. Kato. Harbor Freight is your friend.
got one, don't need it for this though, plenty of room under it
Attach that Bolts & Nuts cabinet to the wall, or (at a minimum) to the backside to the bottom cabinet with a bracket.

Great video Nathan. I really like your nut and bolt system and your oil drain system. Really nice. That was beautiful grain on that white oak. 👍❤️
Thanks 👍

Awesome 👌 add a Milburn Pennybags box next the cabinets to drop the monopoly money to keep track of gas and time savings 😂 stay safe and healthy 😎
U2 buddy
Nathan, what is the reason for quarter sawing? I havent seen or heard of that before...thank you my friend.
Long time follower from Texas.
Interesting that the access panel required 14mm and the oil plug was 7/8in! Nothing is completely "standard" anymore!! LOL
Great demo. I learn so many things about cutting wood from you.
Glad to hear it!
As a non-sawyer, thus far, my question is, why ATF fluid rather than some regular kind of oil or metal lubricant?? Just curious
I bet you're boy had no problem helping you eat the cheese balls lol

What causes the rays?
How much for the cheese balls without the container? Lol

Metric...well, there's DIN (Euro) and JIC (Oriental)- never the twain shall meet! (Generally NOT interchangeable). On top of that- Chinese??? Love your channel- good luck!
Maybe turn the brush parallel?? Am I missing something?
That was fun. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
MM77 Approved 👍🏻👍🏻
I am afraid to say that I am too dumb to understand the benefits of quarter sawing as it seems that there is a lot of waste due to so many of the edges being not at right angles to the flat face.
Looks like your next project needs to be an oil change pit. 😅
We shall see
stay safe
Fragile?!?
Couldn't you have used a coffee can instead of that barrel of fun.
👍
Consider a varasol brush instead
Oil capacity, you said 'gallons'... did you mean 'quarts'?

ATF? Automatic transmission fluid. Is that correct?
Yep
You’ll be here all night or until the wife calls you in.
M M is better I did not think I would ever say this yall.

I know you are down in Tennessee whare people have a different accent but you say ol when it spelled O-I-L you don't pronounce the I. Sounds wired.
Metric is what the rest of the world uses, lol.
