  • Simple video on how to replace the Transmission Fluid on your 8th Generation Honda Civic with a Manual Transmission.
    Drain Plug Part #: 90081PB6000
    Fill Plug Part #: 9280020000
    Fluid Part #: 08798-9031C
Same procedure should apply for any Honda with a Manual Transmission. Always check your Owner's Manual or your dealer to ensure you have the correct fluid.

Pro tip: remove the fill plug (17mm) bolt first before emptying the fluid. This is a good first step because if your fill plug is seized or stripped then you can’t remove it. If you try this first and are unsuccessful then at least you are still able to drive the car because you wouldn’t have emptied all the old fluid out.
If your fill plug is stripped or seized, you could try using vice grips and heating it up with a torch to remove it. The safer route is to bring it to a mechanic.

Thanks for this video. I might add that car ramps work for me. Much safer than just jack stands. A combination is even better. Stay safe.

there are some vids on youtube that are filling from the top, near the battery& intake. is it okay to fill from there?

I don’t see an issue with it. I found it easier to fill from the bottom because I was already under the car and I could see when it was full. But if you can fit the tube from the top it might be better!

I have a 2007 dx manual coupe. With 208k mileage, family got the car at 166k mileage but never changed the trans fluid. Mostly highway mileage. Gear still change fine, i would like to know what your car mileage was at and the condition of the fluids? Plese let me know

Hey Ron, my car had 196,000km on it when I changed the fluid. I bought mine with 175,000km, however I was not aware when it was changed last so I decided to change it for peace of mind. My transmission shifts smoother now. I believe Honda recommends you change it every 60,000km.
