Some important information about the EDPT: This is a written test, you have to wake up hella early in the morning to go to MEPS and then wait a 2 hours for the test to actually start (starts at 8am, your recruiter should've already discussed this with you). The test had an answer sheet for 150 questions but there where only 128 questions total that are in the booklet. All four sections of the EDPT are mixed randomly together into one fat section and you have an hour and a half to get as many as you can, YOU MUST WORK EFFICIENTLY. 40 seconds per question is no joke, I guessed on the last 25 questions because I ran out of time. You have arthimetic reasoning questions that are very similar to the Asvab (some of them are a lot harder simply because you don't know little things, like how many feet are in a mile). Pro tip for the arithmetic questions, if you get stuck for a short while on any one question you should just cut your losses and move on, time is of the essence gentlemen. Number sequences where all pretty easy, what really helps is writing all the numbers in a sequence down on paper and then seeing how much it add/subtracts between each number. Try not to get held up on the shapes, they're pretty simple, here's what to know. There are two shapes that are transforming in a certain way, you are then given a new shape and must transform that one like the two before it. That's a dumbed down version however, these "shapes" are a bit more confusing, they're more like complex patterns. Patterns will be cut in half and then put together, patterns will contain multiple shapes (up to 3) and then they'll be broken apart in a certain way. Finally there's the analogies, they where pretty basic as well but I did find myself spending some extra time on them just to make sure my answer made sense. If I had to rate the difficulty for each section it would be: 1 - Algebra & Word Problems (Arithmetic Reasoning), 2 - Spacial Recognition (Shapes), 3 - Analogies, 4 - Number Sequences. I hope this helps you future testers out there, really wish I knew all of this information before hand.
@@lubedhomo My recruiter was a bit of a DICK with this test. I've showed him some proof of my problem solving with 3D artwork that I do in like maya, and also my asvab score. I also script in python to automate stuff.. This guy told me someone with a 98 ASVAB could not pass this test. I didn't study that much, the ASVAB was just basic arithmetic, it's really not that bad but I did NOT score a 98. Even If I pass the EDPT there is no guarantee I will get my job, that's the Air Force for yah. I qualified for all of the jobs though. I have taken IQ tests before so i'm sure It's not that bad, on reddit they say some of the cheesy iq tests online are harder, but I don't know how true that is. If I don't pass, then whatever. It's been pretty stressful, I also have to verify my score at meps because I took a PiCAT in his office and apparently people cheat on it. So I take the asvab twice.
@@tttmarcel2777 I've heard a bit about the cheating on PiCAT's and how easy it is, didn't know they where doing verification tests for the verification test lmao. I'm guessing you're shooting for the computer systems programming job based on what you said (I was shooting for it too). Air Force is so annoying with a lot of stuff, Job drop has been delayed so much and it's getting on my nerves so bad, I really hope I get the career I'm looking for. Anyways, I got an 82 on the ASVAB & when I took the EDPT I got a 52 so I'd say it's a very difficult test but then again I was sleep deprived asf when I took it due to me being an idiot so results may vary. All I can say for you is good luck man.
I didn't think the DLAB was that difficult. It was all about connecting rules and meaning to random letter and word combinations. You really only needed to remember the rules.
Not necessarily. Remembering the rules is only a fraction of it. It will help save you some time by familiarizing you with test but it won't guarantee success. Listening comprehension takes skill and practice. And even if you remember the rules, being able to catch it the first time you hear it is the challenging part. The DLAB is not impossible but I have to say, the section where all the rules are applied at once makes it feel like it is. What saved me was the picture portion, where it focused less on listening but more on figuring out what phrases mean based on the photos given.
I learned Russian while in college so those rules you were explaining honestly make sense to me lol. If anyone ends up getting Russian, expect to change stuff a lot depending on the gender of the main object you're talking about
Great video! I'm in the process of enlisting in USAF and I'm looking deeply into jobs. You have a great channel that deserves more subscribers. You've definitely earned mine.
Sophie C the DLAB may be easier for you then. :D All I have ever learned is two years of spanish in high school and I definitely do not speak it fluently. You might as well take it, there isn't any harm. Best of luck to you
Thanks dude I appreciate this a lot. I'm looking into my options for programming and hearing what was on the test is immensely helpful. Do you think the EDPT would be a breeze for a Calc student?
From what I've seen on the practice tests I've taken you don't need to know anything more than how to make a word problem into a solvable problem, however you don't need to solve it just make it into an equation.
Air Force no longer proctors the DLAB, but I’ll be taking the EDPT next week. If my recruiter knew what he was doing I should have taken it 2 months ago when I entered DEP. But here we are..scored 94 on the asvab so I’m not too worried but I want to know what I’m getting into
hey! It looks like you took this fairly recently. I am taking it in a few days. do you remember if the part where you listen for the stress patterns in the dlab was in english or in esperanto?
I took the edpt as well. Only Air Force and marines use it. Two jobs in af and one in usmc. I got a 71 which is the minimum needed for computer systems programming which I hope to get.
Thanks for the video! What was your ASVAB test score? I got 95 AFQT, 98 Mechanical and 98 Electronic. My recruiter is setting up for DLAB but didn't tell me about EDPT. Can I ask for it?
I took the DLAB and the EDPT because it is better to be as highly qualified as you can be. I may not want to be a linguist or 9s but Who knows how I will feel in the future. I have never studied mechanics and my college was geared toward Computer Science but a lot of the Electrical questions are in regards to electrical systems like different kinds of transformers, ohms, watts, volts, power... Ect.
Ive heard that each question is worth one point and your score is a sum of all the correct questions. Do you know if that's the case? I also read that wrong answers aren't counted against you, do you know about that one?
I don't believe that it was every question was a point but it was good to not leave an answer blank because getting it wrong didn't effect you sounds familiar
It would have been great if you included your minutes in the description. Well thank you for taking the time out to make the video. My recruiter wasn't very insightful but, this video will defiantly help.
Hey can anyone attest to the EDPT correlating to an IQ test? Just wanting to figure out if the in test will tell me how I stand going into the EDPT. Thanks
Are you going to the airforce? Me to! I want to be in the ACC Or AMC MAJCOM division I think that'd be cool what do you want to be in GSC ? ACC ? AMC ? There more but what do you want to be in?
Do you have to take the edpt in its entirty or do they cut it up like the asvab? Also did you happen to find any place that has practice questions to prepare?
The EDPT is set up like the ASVAB, just a harder version in my opinion. So it is a test you take in one sitting and has about 3 to 5 different sections. Sorry been over a year since I have taken it now. I didn't find anything online to help me practice for it.
I took that last week, the test is very specific to wireless information and detailed computer knowledge. I was not aware i had to take it so i didnt study.

Thank you this is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Also lol "I don't study" that's exactly me.
I used the new 2023 DLAB study guide by Sam Newmann, got above a 120, its very very similar to the new DLAB.
