  • A visit to RAF Fylingdales in 1969 and Inverness at the River Ness then the locks on the Caledonian canal at Fort Augustus.
    RAF Fylingdales is a Royal Air Force station on Snod Hill in the North Yorkshire Moors, England. Its motto is "Vigilamus". It is a radar base and is also part of the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System

    I was stationed at RAF Goldsboro near Whitby as a radar operator in 1954 we filled in for Fylingdales all buried now it was hi-tech in its day underground just a big mound of grass but 60 feet below !!!! lots of rooms and corridors
