Amazing to know that Tom Cruise actually improvised some of the stuff, especially the call to the manager which one of the funniest part of the remote ! Respect.
Cruise improvised all of Les Grossman and most funny bits from his movies.
If Cruise asking for a bathroom break was improv, then his reaction when Conan whip's the bottle has to be partly genuine which makes it SO much more funny

Tom Cruise is a legend. It's a shame there is not one actor that will be able to replace or even match his passion and commitment.
especially with how actors are picked now. they need to have a following they don't give shots to young guys from the south with a passion for movies anymore.

This was one of my favorite skits! It’s the epitome of real comedy. I wish Tom wasn’t in a weird cult because he would be so much more awesome!

It’s been a pretty rough decade for me and since the 90s I’ve always watched Conan and friends programming for entertainment. You’re the best!
I remember that skit airing the first time. Cruise has caught some flack over the years, but I truly believe he's a fantastic and gifted entertainer who truly cares about his fans and their experience watching his films. Also, his performance in Rain Man and Collateral are ones for the record books. Wish we'd get a legacy sequel to The Color Of Money.

The thing is, Tom Cruise is so insanely rich, powerful, and bizarre that for all we know he had them sign a contract as a condition for his appearance that stipulated they must publicly credit him with improvising his own lines and being really cool.
Now that's very unlikely to be true. But it's more likely with Tom Cruise than just about anyone else.
That won't be true and limits freedom speech. What Tom did do is build a good reputation for himself and as with any reputation it relates to having good relationships and maintaining them. It's a skill

There’s no script, but the writers/producers tell you what to talk about, or topics to talk about. I did a bit with Ellen and behind the cameras were writers with white boards saying “ask her about her car…jump in the trunk” so they sort of steer you where things are funny and then change when it gets stale. Then they use the best parts/edit it around..welcome to TV!
