We're using a 2600 on a media/steam machine. It crushes what we built it to do so as tempted as I get with new releases, I think we'll be sitting this round out. 10:23 - Just an observation Deus Ex MD needs some optimisation? The video card is anywhere between 57% and 80% and the CPU is around 36%-50%. You say the benchmark is brutal but the game isn't using all the resources available to it.
Was going to skip through and just check the graphs for the differences in FPS but got lost in your honestly amazing narration, so informing and frankly relaxing!
if you are going for a midrange PC benchmark, use mid range components, like a ghetto b350/b450 board with a max of 16gbs of 3200mhz ddr4 ram and a midrange graphics card like the 2060 Super or the Navi 5700. I don't see the point in using a 2080 ti other than eliminating bottlenecks, but that doesn't equate to what a consumer will experience when they build their PC.
@@nejihyuga5338 24% performance increase for 100 dollars is not good enough, especially 29% for 200 dollars more with 8700k. The copper head cooler is better (2600X). AMD chose a cheaper cooler for the 3600X, cause it doesnt get as hot (7nm CPU), so it doesnt need the higher cooling power of the copper head cooler. That said, it would at least get a slightly better boost frequency or run a bit quieter with the old cooler. But you know how companies are these days... safe as much money as you can!

@@joannaatkins822 if you dont mind tinkering with 5700xt theirs alot of head room to be gain. With all the new youtube vids showing 2080 like performance, thats insane. Im pretty sure consoles are gonna be able to do 4k 60hz and stream 8k videos after seeing all the navi benchmarks. Games are gonna look so good especially ps5 exclusives. With what they were able to get out of a 7750 gpu in ps4. Now they have 1080ti power, god of war, uncharted, new horizon, uncharted are gonna be so beautiful.
If you're on a tight budget, I think the 1600 (non X) is what you should be looking at. It includes a stock cooler and is $105 on Newegg right now. Pair that with the PowerColor Red Dragon rx 570 for $120 (on Newegg) and you've probably got the best price/performance 1080p PC you can currently build.
I swear, I sometimes think you read yours subscribers minds!🤯
Keep the good work!👍

Again for validating price/performance purchase of the 2600.
This video was super useful!
I think that the price/performance chart is the best way to see the bigger picture.
And much appreciated for including the board cost into the comparison! That's an excellent way to help us decide which option to choose.
I was literally looking for this comparisin when I got the notification from my fav. tech channel
my i5-2400 rig just died and now time to listen to my trusty PC parts adviser aka Tech Deals
I'd like to see some flight sims added for benchmarking. Xplane 11 has some built in benchmarks. DCSWorld would also be a great choice.
Yep
I rarely post comments (maybe because they get lost in the thousands of comments) but wanted to say thank you! This is a great and detailed comparison.

Going from the 1600 to the 3700x personally. For 329 the 3700x is such a good deal. 3600x is a great deal as well but I wanted the 8 core/16 thread and the performance is so good.

1:29 Super nitpicking, but I don't think the Wraith Spire coolers that come with the 3600X and the 2600X are the same...
The one that came with the 2600X had a copper base, the one that came with the 3600X doesn't

Great video ! Thanks for the comparison and information.
Just bear in mind people the 8700k is not OC. You can get up to a 15% increase when OCing it, zen and zen+ also offer decent small increases, however zen 2 isn't worth OCing. Let's be real here, the 3600 non x is the best choice though.

I have a i3-3225. I feel as if the 2600 would completely blow my soaks off.... great video!!!
Between first and second generation not noticeable difference, But the third generation is a great improvement, I have 2600x now, when I look better between the first and second generation, there is no difference, this third generation is broken and cheap, I'm thinking to upgrade to 3700x
We're using a 2600 on a media/steam machine. It crushes what we built it to do so as tempted as I get with new releases, I think we'll be sitting this round out. Having said that, the 2600 system was originally built with a 1500X, and I did switch to the 2600 (when I found the deal of course) as I'd always regretted not getting the 1600 in the first place.

Dennis Mark even when I game mine is lower, 4.175 usually
10:23 - Just an observation Deus Ex MD needs some optimisation? The video card is anywhere between 57% and 80% and the CPU is around 36%-50%. You say the benchmark is brutal but the game isn't using all the resources available to it.

if you are going for a midrange PC benchmark, use mid range components, like a ghetto b350/b450 board with a max of 16gbs of 3200mhz ddr4 ram and a midrange graphics card like the 2060 Super or the Navi 5700. I don't see the point in using a 2080 ti other than eliminating bottlenecks, but that doesn't equate to what a consumer will experience when they build their PC.
I am buying 1600, no point to pay more, thank you for your video. What was I thinking wanting to buy 3600x or even 8700k
Is the 1600 future proof?
I don't think so, at least not as the 3600.
@@nejihyuga5338 24% performance increase for 100 dollars is not good enough, especially 29% for 200 dollars more with 8700k. Am I not right? : )
Vito Pursuer depends on how much longer you’re planning on using the rest of your hardware. If you’re planning on upgrading other stuff soon you should get a better CPU, if you just upgraded and it won’t bottleneck then you’re fine

@@zonkeymaker I do not need more than 60 fps, and 1600x can provide 100. It is future proof for me already. Yes 3600x can give you 120 or even 130 fps on average but I do not have 2080 or 2080ti, more over I do not plan to get it, at best it would be 2070 and I 1600x would make it load all 100%

Is the additional 50$ between the 3600 and the 3600x is worth it ? There is only a 2% difference on userbench between these 2, and 8% between the 3600 and 3700x. Im worried about the wraith stealth with the 3600, its way smaller than the wraith spire, how does these two compare ?

Yes, we've all watched Gamer Nexus video by now :) Same guy that recommended 3600x over 3600 just two days ago prior to testing 3600x. I just started following him couple of weeks ago and he's been wrong a lot. My point is, don't take his words blindly. Wait for others to benchmark and OC the heck out of the two.
Great video, i just picked up a 2600x w new motherboard from microcenter yesterday after much contemplation between 2600x and 3600, the guy that sold it to me really pushed the 3600 saying it blew the 2600x out of the water. I eventually decided that the real upgrade will be to 8 core so for now the 2600x is fine. This video very much helped me confirm my thoughts and calmed my doubts.
The cooler is not the same. The 2600x cooler has a coper head that touches the cpu, the 3600x does not.🤔🤔🤔
which one is better?
The copper head cooler is better (2600X). AMD chose a cheaper cooler for the 3600X, cause it doesnt get as hot (7nm CPU), so it doesnt need the higher cooling power of the copper head cooler. That said, it would at least get a slightly better boost frequency or run a bit quieter with the old cooler. But you know how companies are these days... safe as much money as you can!
you can use 1600 or 2600x cooler on 3600
