Same. By the way the tone twins stuff on your strat restore is killer-especially the operating room stuff with the narration. Like antiques roadshow meets a medical procedural for guitar nerds.
I was thinking to myself, why is this guy so instantly likeable? He's so genuine, and that's sorely missing in the world. Everyone is out to get something, and this guy guitar with his wife, and plays outside with his kids. I really hope he sticks around after the virus.
Hey Tom. Life got pretty messed up for a lot of us people. I just found your channel today by accident. I hadn't picked up my guitar in weeks, but dude, thank you. I'm playing again. You're inspirational.
Starting off in '63 everything was based around the rhythm and hook lines/themes. My love for music and guitar started with Buddy Holly, and the Everly Bros, hooked me on harmony! The Beach Boys led me right to loving the Beatles guitar stuff and how Brian Jones and Keith created those entertwined guitar parts. It'll be 57 years in August and hasn't really slowed down ANY! LOL I enjoy these garage sessions immensely! Thanks and keep doing 'em!
The look you gave the camera, when your son said goodbye........those are the eyes and smile of a proud Papa. Great player and true hearted man. Keep up the work. Thanks.
Went back and re-watched some of these old ones. It struck me while you were talking about playing rhythm guitar, and how if felt when my old corporate band really locked into a groove. When you look out at the heads bobbing or people dancing, nobody's doing it to the guitar solo. That feeling when you're connected with your bandmates, and the band is connected with the audience. That's what makes it fun.
When you're playing out of your mind, then realize you just realized it. But then a professional can get it back, just like that, and keep goin'. Awesome.
Leo is awesome. Ha! My 3yr. old granddaughter frequently joins me quarantine jammin in the man cave. She likes drums and keys. The most Important thing of being a good guitar player is to make sure you spend times with loved ones. My mom told me when she bought me those 1st 2 Zep albums in late ‘69, she didn’t see me until 1970. I could live in the cave.
I've been sliding around with maj and min 3rds for a long time, but for some reason, I never thought to do it the same way with 4ths and 5ths. Playing "inside harmony" diatonically with the 3rd intervals always made sense to me because I could follow the "family of chords" (e.g. I ii iii IV IV vi vii) to know when to play a major or minor interval--plus it just sounded right. But when I tried to follow Tom's lead and do it with 4th and 5th intervals, I heard some stuff that wasn't diatonic. For 4ths you can play perfect 4ths on every note of the scale but the 7th degree (e.g. in C maj, B's perfect 5th is F#). For 5ths you can play perfect 5ths on every note but the 4th degree (e.g. in C maj, F's perfect 4th is A#). However, if you stick to the major pentatonic scale, you are skipping the 4th and 7th note so it is safe to slide around between 4ths and 5ths all day. Of course, the best part about knowing "rules" is when to break them, but being able to stay diatonic will always sound good. Anyway, thought I'd share one way to look at this. Now back to practice.
Leo has the cutest smile. You can feel his joy when his dad praises him. And Tom's joy when Leo says "bye" touches the heart. That's an exit that can't be topped. Just another example of what makes Tom's channel so amazing.
11:38... THAT'S why you rock brother! It's always been about the music and the musical conversations that can be had. Imagine the possibilities if there's no ego 🔥
Best part is the cameo by Leo. A legend talking about touring with a couple legends and sidetracked by a 4 year old. You are human! That was awesome. Love the videos. Thanks for sharing while we are all locked up
I hope everyone is listening. You got too listen to learn....super melodic. Hey Buko..I have been getting gigs the last year all based on my ability to blend in and play rythm just as you describe.... 🤙🤙🤙
I needed this.Stuck in for hours getting bored overdosing on guitar videos .8 string fusion wonders who play all day just to backing tracks, take note here.Simplicity, right amount of notes, soulful and I bet this guy can tear it up when applicable. Thanks Premier guitar for introducing me to this remarkable talent.
Great stories! You're kid is great. I have a 4 year old daughter and they all act so simialar while being so different. We're all in this together man.
Hello, A message for Tom, Thank you for putting big Smiles on me. I envy you. You found your Heart, Soul and Harmony, Your Wife. Of all the Cats on RUclips, You sir, Gave kudos to Steve Howe. A Master. Oh, yeah... JB. When and was the time and song that Sent you on a mission to reveal Jeff Beck. You have Mr. Beck's vibrato Perfecto. Keep Rockin. You Hooked me for Life.
It's astonishing. The easyness and spontaneous of playing used to project such emount of beauty is something I never seen before. Tom's playing shines with all that goodness and positive vibrations yet so relaxed. There must be at least a billion session guitarists in Neshville, and no wonder people consider you are the best of them all, Tom. Thank you very much for making our lives better as well as using your art of playing to make us a better humans! Best wishes to you and to your family!
Stumbled on your channel by surfing guitar vids. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Man this was very well explained and demonstrated. Nice to throw in some old war stories. Guys like you who share the love of guitar for all to enjoy are such cool dudes. Loved this concept and this gives me another stylistic twist to add to my playing. Thanks again. Very cool.
Uncle Larry, the intro music has a vibe so much like Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. Now I know where John Mayer got his learnin'. Phil in gorgeous Young Harris, Georgia, USA
Holy crap...I must have listened to "Down to my last bad habit" roundabout a million times.. now realizing that you played the intro on that track and ACTUALLY hearing you play it just gave me goosebumps.. You're a genius man! Greetings from around the globe, Vienna/Austria..
Too cute! After playing guitar for years, and learning some patterns of scales. I’m slowing down and learning the scales. By ear. Figuring them out as I go. Small breakthrough the other day, thinking’s about the numbers (intervals) rather than the specific note. I was really good in Math class, and really bad in English. There’s more than one way to skin a cat! Hearing you play through the chord tones with the intervals was inspiring. Hope to learn my instrument a little better today than I did yesterday. Peace
Fuck... As if last video weren't good enough. You were talking above my head in the last video with the 6ths. But now there's 3rds, and also 4ths? Jeeeeez... All I know is that it sounds so freaking good (and what makes your sound so special). It will take me a long time to wrap my head around this. Thanks so much for sharing the knowledge Tom!! When you run out of lessons, you gotta tell us more about your gear stories.
Tom - great video, thanks for the Joe Walsh tour insight. My first LP in 1974 was Joe's Smoker You Drink. His music really set a tone for me as a struggling guitar player (still does...). I first came here from a Tim Pierce video. I am not leaving.
Rhythm is where it’s at truly. You can play a rhythmic riff or chords and everyday people know the song or can recall songs just based on the chords. Great video again Tom. You should also feature you’re piano playing. You’re a great keyboardist. Just say’n!
When I met the Hellecasters in Quebec city Will Ray gave me advice in three words... Practice practice practice. They were so wonderful and I was in guitar shock seeing them sound check then perform. Wonderful memories. Keep on teaching T B thanks.
Love these videos. I just listen to the guitar playing and the stories, not got round to processing the actual lessons in them yet. No frills, just kick ass playing and a genuine dude.
I confess I'd never heard of TB but he's a great communicator and seems like a nice guy. I always like hearing from working musicians like Guthrie Trapp and Josh Smith. I'm going to add TB to this list and check out his other vids
I feel the same about playing rhythm, and complimenting the music-no ego, serve the situation! Vince Gill has a mind blowing guitar collection so I hear! Wonderful stuff Tom.
I was a little late to the Bukovac party but I’m sure glad I made it. This was definitely one of my favorite episodes so far. You’ve got a beautiful touch brother. Thanks for teaching an old dog some new tricks.
There is some super important stuff in this video intervals and fretboard navigation, on the rhythm stuff tommy emmanuel says get competent with it because it's the foundation of guitar playing and music in general. IMHO when I have had lessons from session player like tom you learn more in 10 mins than 10 years with others.
It is so good it just kills me after all these years I couldn't get to a place even close to this. It is on the one hand very inspiring, on the other hand you can clearly tell he never played sports, dated, or masterb@ted in his entire life, he just practiced guitar. Just kidding. Man these videos are an incredible gift.
Nice to hear someone who loves the music. You have to respect the music and have done your homework to be good, really good. Great. It is about the team to make it shine.

Toutes cette merde m'aura au moins permis de te connaitre... T'es un des plus merveilleux guitariste qu'il m ai été donné d'entendre, merci pour ce que tu fais pour nous. Et t'es tellement généreux... un énorme MERCI dude. Best regards from France
Two favorite, under appreciated rhythm players: John Lennon and Elvis. A lot of guitar players end up with bad time since rock n roll, for all it's good, made the electric guitar more of a lead instrument like a Sax but it's so much more than that. Listening to Chet and the older cats who played as lead/rhythm, accompaniment, taught me a lot about the instruments possibilities. That's why I love these lessons, all this info is gold
Awesome video, but the reality check is when Neil makes an appearance. God bless you and your family and I hope to catch you at Billy’s Old Front, if you come to town again in 2020.❤️
Hi Leo! Thanks for that Tom, big smile - as usual I picked up my guitar that sits next to me all day (work from home) and went, hmm, tuned down a little - so I switched out guitars and tuned down as well. New guitar needs some love as I have not played it in months - turned out to be a great thing. Planning on putting together a simple outline of your Volumes that I can review ... too many words. later
Just an awesome video, love hearing about Vince Gill and Joe Walsh too. It's great hearing some of my favorite players are great people too, I like that. Learning a lot from u, thanks so much.
I’m glad you said it, showing off isn’t a skill... I always looked at bass as easy and boring, that is until I tried it, that’s when I discovered I have zero talent. keeping that background rhythm is the foundation, nothing works without it. Love to see guys playing in the groove... Lead is only fun when guys are laying down that rhythm for you, especially when they are listening and adjusting tempo to keep you supported. It’s difficult to give the respect due unless you’ve been there...
Great playin and great advice...the best thanks i feel i can offer is: I just spent 30 mins just doing 3rds into 4th and 5ths...trying to make it as intuitive and legato as you. Thank you, and btw: your son shines like a diamond. Blessings unto you.
Hey my studio was on the 6th floor with Dave & Glen in Hollywood 2001-2009. Was a great vibe having Ringo and Stevie Nicks strolling down the hallways at times. I live in Nash now though. You've got the best feel, phrasing and note choice!!
Thanks again Tom. I just learned a couple things about the guitar, and a huge lesson. How to deal with the kids when they walk in on the jam. Sometimes it feels like an interruption, but they are listening and picking it up. The other night my 4 year old daughter came in and played perfect pitch piano while I just played rhythm for her. Best jam in a while for me.
Great advice.. first class. Man, I love these hangs! Thanks so much brother! I'm learning a lot.. you're really helping out! Appreciate it so much 🤙 Aloha
I am Hooked on Your Videos Tom!!!...Love your Playing, words fo wisdom and stories...and a Great Dad!! Thank you so much for sharing your time with us!!!
A couple of possible future volume topic requests. Do you have an all-time favorite project you did guitar work on? What made it your favorite? Talk about your philosophy on serving the song in the studio.. Do the song Stupid boy with Sarah.. 😀
Discovered these videos last night and watched them all back to back. I now feel like a better guitar player and human being. Keep ‘em coming, Tom 🙌🏻
Same here. Aside from catching your usual Friday fret works this has been all I have been watching
yeah man. this is the stuff right here.
Same. By the way the tone twins stuff on your strat restore is killer-especially the operating room stuff with the narration. Like antiques roadshow meets a medical procedural for guitar nerds.
TOTALLY
Absolutely right Chris !
I designed the label inside the f hole on Dave’s signature Duesenberg guitar that you have. Fun little project.
I heard Angus say one time that rhythm was the skillful part and that any player can solo. That impacted me.
I was thinking to myself, why is this guy so instantly likeable?
He's so genuine, and that's sorely missing in the world. Everyone is out to get something, and this guy guitar with his wife, and plays outside with his kids.
I really hope he sticks around after the virus.
Yup he's stuck around alright !😎🎸🎸👍🏼👍🏼thank God . Thank you Uncle Larry! For sticking around !
Going back to the old episodes … this one is priceless !!!!!!
Nothing more real about life than a guy who can make a guitar sound cool. Always loved cats like that. Someone buy Tom a beer.
Only thing more real is his son stepping into the video and “weddle ousside lebble” until he promises to come outside ;)
These keep popping up on my youtube feed, now. I hope you don't mind me commenting. This is amazingly pretty. 😁
Theres a reason this man is so sought after and was included in Willies back up band...hes one, if not the best!
Hey Tom. Life got pretty messed up for a lot of us people. I just found your channel today by accident. I hadn't picked up my guitar in weeks, but dude, thank you. I'm playing again. You're inspirational.
My favorite part of the video was the joy on your face when you held your child. What a blessing! So frickin cool.
I could listen to the intro on a loop all day
Starting off in '63 everything was based around the rhythm and hook lines/themes.
Listening to this with my week old son sleeping on my chest is making this craziness a little better today. Thanks Tom.
Congratulations man 👍🏻
Thanks y'all!
i have 4, grown up....ahh the good ole days of hidin in my garage, broke, and my guitar
The look you gave the camera, when your son said goodbye........those are the eyes and smile of a proud Papa. Great player and true hearted man. Keep up the work. Thanks.
Wow the combination of the humbucker and hum sized p90 is visualy very appealing.
Went back and re-watched some of these old ones. It struck me while you were talking about playing rhythm guitar, and how if felt when my old corporate band really locked into a groove. When you're playing out of your mind, then realize you just realized it. But then a professional can get it back, just like that, and keep goin'. Awesome.
And your bird can sing is one of the most amazing leads ever written. Most young players have no idea how good George Harrison was.. in 1963? Crazy!
Leo is awesome. Ha! My 3yr. old granddaughter frequently joins me quarantine jammin in the man cave. She likes drums and keys. In my top 10 favorite episodes. A cool uncle and a great dad!
Yes ... this is a great video , I'm watching reruns waiting for a new video ! Peace ! Happy New Year home schoolers 💕👍🏼🎸🎸🎸
My favorite channel on RUclips.
The world needs more of this:)
Stay strong and keep going Tom...
Damn! I don’t even need to play guitar anymore! Just listening to this guy makes me a better guitarist!!! And it’s free!! Thanks Tom Bukavac!!!
I've been sliding around with maj and min 3rds for a long time, but for some reason, I never thought to do it the same way with 4ths and 5ths. The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get... bought that Joe Walsh album when I was 15.. man you love all the same stuff I do...What a guy!
I hope everyone is listening. You got too listen to learn....super melodic.
Hey Buko..I have been getting gigs the last year all based on my ability to blend in and play rythm just as you describe....
🤙🤙🤙
i come back to this opening melody so much it’s ridiculous.
This is some of the coolest guitar I have ever heard.

Just magic happening today, Tom. The Leo visit was epic
Great stories! You're kid is great. I have a 4 year old daughter and they all act so simialar while being so different. We're all in this together man.
Hello,
A message for Tom,
Thank you for putting big Smiles on me.
I envy you. You found your Heart, Soul and Harmony, Your Wife.
Of all the Cats on RUclips,
You sir, Gave kudos to Steve Howe. A Master. Oh, yeah...
JB. When and was the time and song that Sent you on a mission to reveal Jeff Beck.
You have Mr. Beck's vibrato
Perfecto.
Keep Rockin. You Hooked me for Life.

Bad ass guitar player for sure ...but most importantly such an AWESOME Dad. Nice to see that side of you; thanks for sharing.

Guys like you who share the love of guitar for all to enjoy are such cool dudes. Loved this concept and this gives me another stylistic twist to add to my playing. Thanks again. Very cool.
Watching again for the X# time...THANKS BUK!!!
Fun to see Tom discover Cory! That whole Vulf/Snarky Puppy universe is a joy.
This is the single best thing I came across on RUclips these days!
i feel like i’m hanging out with just an awesome guy. let alone amazing musician
Uncle Larry, the intro music has a vibe so much like Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. Now I know where John Mayer got his learnin'.
Phil in gorgeous Young Harris, Georgia, USA

Look.... I’ve ALWAYS been a metal head.....but ‘tis cat is one of my top 5 guitarists EVER!!! He’s a MASTER !!!

That Duesenburg sounds so sweet!
Great to see some of your family. The family dynamic for a working musician might be an interesting topic of discussion. Blessings.

I am a fan of another RUclips guy named Mark Zabel. He has said multiple times to learn the notes. I hear you both and that is now my mission.
When I met the Hellecasters in Quebec city Will Ray gave me advice in three words... Practice practice practice. They were so wonderful and I was in guitar shock seeing them sound check then perform. Wonderful memories. Keep on teaching T B thanks.
Man, when you pair those harmonies with the pedal tones on the lower strings it's sooo sexy. So many licks to steal!
Love these videos. I just listen to the guitar playing and the stories, not got round to processing the actual lessons in them yet. No frills, just kick ass playing and a genuine dude.
This is a really great lesson - Thank You, Alan
Gosh! And your bird can sing is such a cool song!

I love your guitar playin but... the look on your face holding your son...priceless!
I have been learning the neck , damit. Having a hard time learning 2 at the same time. I am making huge gains with your teachings. Thanks Sir
That Walsh story is awesome man..Im pretty sure hes my fav muscician ever

He ain't messing around with that Cory Wong recommendation.
Awesome video, but the reality check is when Neil makes an appearance. God bless you and your family and I hope to catch you at Billy’s Old Front, if you come to town again in 2020.❤️
Mate! Love ya work! Kick ass Buk! I’ll have to Greg V to check these out 👍
Hi Leo! Thanks for that Tom, big smile - as usual I picked up my guitar that sits next to me all day (work from home) and went, hmm, tuned down a little - so I switched out guitars and tuned down as well. Just binged all the volumes. Keep em coming!
Great stuff my good man. Thanks.
Just an awesome video, love hearing about Vince Gill and Joe Walsh too. It's great hearing some of my favorite players are great people too, I like that. Learning a lot from u, thanks so much.
Man that intro improv is beautiful Tom. Great stuff.
Just recently subbed because I heard something in your playing I really admire. Great feel, vibrato.
Never knew you had such accolades. Wow
Great playin and great advice...the best thanks i feel i can offer is: I just spent 30 mins just doing 3rds into 4th and 5ths...trying to make it as intuitive and legato as you. Thank you, and btw: your son shines like a diamond. Blessings unto you.
HAHAHA!!! Your kid is hilarious! He wants to check out the weather Tom! Very cool man.
I just recently discovered this great guy! Realy inspiring !!!!!
Really aweosme shit.
Does anyone know what amp he is using for these video's ? Thnx
Just love these videos Tom, thank you! Please keep doing these after Corona dies out. You need to pass on your legacy, stories and general mirth!
I remember seeing you with Jackie Greene - you most certainly handled the 2nd guitar parts as you describe here in this video!
That's beautiful playing man - damn! I thought that was you on "The Last Bad Habit" at the beginning- Love that song!
Amazing stuff, really great insight. Thanks for sharing with us mere mortals😉👍🎸
Amazing sounding Duesenberg. Thanks for that intro, Tom!
These just keep getting better and better. Heading back to my practice room after work!
Right, then. I know what I'll be building into my practice from now on.
Best jam in a while for me.
music from the deep of the heart
Great video Buk...cute kid too..kids are awesome, I have three myself 🤘
Great advice.. first class. Man, I love these hangs! Thanks so much brother! I'm learning a lot.. you're really helping out! Appreciate it so much 🤙 Aloha
I am Hooked on Your Videos Tom!!!...Love your Playing, words fo wisdom and stories...and a Great Dad!!
Thank you so much for sharing your time with us!!!
My Man! Thanks for sticking up for the skills of a great rhythm player!
Your an awesome dude, just found your channel.
Too cool! I guess I saw you guys on that tour. The Verizon Arena in Little Rock AR!
Sounds good. Got here through a post by Ken Lesko. Always wanted to play through that Bogner model you have glowing in the back ground. Stay Safe.
Great Corona Harmony lesson. Also your story bout Joe
A couple of possible future volume topic requests. Do you have an all-time favorite project you did guitar work on? What made it your favorite? Talk about your philosophy on serving the song in the studio.. Do the song Stupid boy with Sarah.. 😀
Love the "Tom Time"....or Buk's Backyard Pickin
