Holy crap! All that, and it's only $289 on Asiatees? Once again, the little guys showing Traxxas how it should be done. Well played, RGT. While I'm no fan of the modern Bronco body style, I find myself liking everything else about this car, which makes the modern Bronco body not a deal breaker. I'd like to see switchable lockers, but that's really about all. I like this car! There's a lot of little extras and thought put into this, stuff I would normally expect to see on much more expensive rigs, not something like this. Very nice! I'm not normally a fan of the servo winch, they break scale for me and they just aren't my thing. That being said, this one looks pretty good, so that's okay. It's no Warn 8274, but then again, what is? Overall this is really good value. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does on the rocks. I suspect the straight axles and smaller tires are going to do it a bit of a disservice, but maybe the rest of the geometry makes up for it? We'll find out. Another outstanding review, good sir. Keep up the excellent work.
Thank you kindly and that's a good summary. I just threw a few pics up in a YT community post for channel members that you can check out - both the Traxxas and the RGT drove everything together today and I think I actually like the feel of the RGT better - which I really did not expect!
@@RCTNT That's a really interesting outcome. I would not have expected that, either. The thing is, as I think about it, it makes sense. The RGT is lighter, has smaller tires, opposed rotation driveshafts, a slight front overdrive, a better steering servo... All that taken together makes it more nimble, snappier, more responsive. That puts it ahead of Traxxas on every front. Don't get me wrong, I genuinely adore my TRX4. But I also accept that it's not the be-all end-all of RC 4x4s. And that's okay. While I do like the portal axles, I think they're really neat and bring a lot of advantage to the table for things like crawling serious offroading, I think straight axles deliver a better driving experience overall. I'm not going to swap the portals for straight axles on anything I have, but I *am* going to add something straight axle to the collection. Maybe this RGT? Maybe something else. This is a top contender, though. I surprised myself with how much I like this car. We can't get the little RGT 136100v2 anymore, and it's getting time to get our middle son his first crawler... maybe this is the one?
@elduderinolebowski5411 for what it's worth, this is my new go-to for recommendations for "best first crawler". It's that good. It was just so impressive today, I'm still in awe of what RGT cooked up with this rig. I'm going to have to do a third video for this car (inspection, 6-probs, and now this). I don't do hype on this channel but if there was a crawler that deserved it, you're looking at it!
$404 Cdn + $987 shipping (ok, I exaggerated sue me lol) I just checked to compare prices, they want $376 CDN for the pioneer and this is twice the vehicle for $28 more.
@@RCTNT I belive my Friend! Here 💪🏻🎅🎁🌲 just give to Panda Family a new Member The RGT EX86170 CHALLENGER (I was so annoying to ask to you lots of questions when you reviewed and tested him, but you helped me to make plans for how to upgrade him!) and RGT have Indeed great RCs!!! If possible please Review to the "new" RGT EX86190 V2 the Toyota LC76 Rescuer!!! Thks my Friend for all the info share and Help!!! A Big Panda Hug From Portugal 💪🏻🐼🏆🐻❄️👍🏻
My rgt blows my trx4 sport out of the water, so good gonna buy another. But make sure to upgrade especially steering housing as they really don’t know how to make things quality over there
@@RCTNT I'm amazed! And reading through your comments here that's so good, I'm completely hyped for it. Can't wait to see more. Not that I don't like or consider the 6 problems course, but I'm especially interested in how different it feels to the TRX4 and why you like it better. Also, is that "servo on axle" a 1/10th take on how Traxxas did it for the TRX4m?👀
THANK YOU. I ordered mine thru the link you provided. Got it in 2 1/2 days. Via FedEx. Ordered Monday night was at my door step Thursday morning. Thank you for the detailed review. Your review is the reason i purchased this unit. I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the great job on your reviews. And thanks for providing the link. Atees has great customer service with live chat.I paid $289. for the truck +$75 shipping total of $364. Still a great deal with shipping. With everything this truck comes with. Couldn't touch that here in the US for under $500 Thanks again By the way I got the Red one. Good choice love that Red.
Oh man that's even better to read! Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope more folks in the USA see this. Asiatees is legit, and I've been a huge fan for years, much longer than I've been doing RC-TNT here. I'm so glad you're enjoying the car! Thanks John.
@@RCTNTNo thank you for the link. I didn't get a copy of my purchase but through live chat that issue was resolved in minutes. They were really helpful. No worries. I will be buying from them again thanks to you. I'm looking at the Toyota Rescue unit. Take care.
Ah the Rescuer is awesome. There's a version 2 now as well, which has some of the upgrades I did to my version 1. You'll know it's V2 if it has an interior. Cheers 👍
It’s to bad they’re hard to get in the United States. I want a few of their trucks but the cost to get them here and parts support makes it a difficult trigger to pull. But I guess that’s what the rest of the world experiences for 90% of what’s available to us.
That's insightfully put. However, even including shipping from Atees, for example, you're still far ahead on value for money. They take standard motors, servos, ESC and receivers, which are the main things that fail on a machine like this. In my experience, RGT has a ready supply of parts for their cars but I concede they may take a couple of weeks to obtain in the USA. For me, the value would still be compelling, though I absolutely understand going for a local option instead!
@@RCTNTNo way. I got mine in 3 days. Ordered Monday night was delivered Thursday before noon. Really 2 1/2 days. Delivered in Texas by FedEx. When ordering i chose FedEx 2 day from Hong Kong. Truck was $289 + $75 total cost $364. Can't even get anything to the quality and features this unit has for under $400. The quality is incredible. I love this unit.
Killer truck with so many goodies very nice for trailing. Amazing it has a winch as well. And strong picked it right up. I’ll never get one but I’d get it before the traxxas Love rgt my first crawler was a rock hammer. Got me hooked
@@RCTNT hopefully, FTX will pick up on this, and we'll see something similar under that brand in the UK? They've just released the Gladius, a Gladiator style crawler, but that's on the Outback chassis. It'd be good to see them mix it up a bit. 👍🏻
Curious to see how this will do on the rocks. They packed a lot of features in this for sure. I see the frame side panhard mount but it's nice to see they didn't do the 4-link + panhard with this. TRX4 geometry is well sorted so it can pull some lines. I've always enjoyed my '21 Bronco in the bright orange. It's a great rig to take out and a good one to let friends drive. It's such a tank I never worry they'll hurt it :)
Perfect. Though it's funny you say this, as I lent my white one to an RC noob (someone's mum, who drove her son to this event today and didn't have her own car, so she drove with all of us for 4+ hours through the rocks and mud! What a champion!) She enjoyed the car but we swapped 3/4 of the way through and she found the RGT easier to drive. (Also, per the photos in the community post I made for channel members today, you'll note the TRX4 broke while the RGT did not, lol!)
@@RCTNT I didn't know it was physically possible to break a TRX4 😰 And I'm not a fan of the brand, but I've seen that chassis taking a beating and always come back for more... Really curious to know more about this.
@YoShImUrA53 see the notes in the description. I misspoke on this one, the part that broke was SSD brand. It was the after market straight axle conversion kit they do. I'll return this to portals in a future live stream when I give it a service. Just gotta find where I put those original axles. I have the portal parts here at least...
Man, that is a steal. The only thing that worries me is replacement parts availability or compatibility. But for that price, about $370 shipped to the states It's definitely worth it. My problem is that if I pick one up now, it's gonna cost me alot more than the truck when my wife wants a divorce. I'm looking at a wrapped present sitting on the floor that I have high suspicions is a redcat Gen 9. If another Truck showed up before Christmas, it could get ugly around here, lol... but it sure would look god trailing around the property beside "whatever" is in this Box under my tree. Keep up the content.
Haha right!! RGT parts availability has been good so far for most things. I was able to buy a lot for the Rescuer when I went with all RGT upgrades not long ago. I expect you'd be fine. But also, what parts do you regularly break on a crawler? It's usually a motor or servos, which are universal. So there's that.
Nice car and excellent video - in process of which I have learned why our little EazyRC Glacier after ESC upgrade (and thus finally setting the end points on the servo) shows a strong 'jumping' when taking a tight turn.
Oooh yes you're on the bleeding edge of what the axles can manage. Back that end point off a tad so it doesn't get nudged past breaking point sometime!
This does look a great truck and lots of really good features so got one on order in the green, had a good amount of FTX crawlers and they have always been good
Dang what a good deal, I got the HB r1001 for $230 recently and it's great too. This one looks a bit better even, I prefer the portal axles on the HB for a trail truck though.
Yowza! Really impressed most RGT’s , but this one takes the cake! Solid axles front and rear, and 6% OD seem to tell me they want this to be not just a medium duty trail truck, but a solid light to medium duty crawler as well. They did a great job on this interior and keeping the weight distribution higher in the front. You do an amazing job doing what you do and sharing it with all of us knuckleheads. 😜 Keep up the great work my friend. Can’t wait to see this on all of your problems as well as the trails! Happy Holidays dude!🌟🙏🎄🙌🎅🏼
Thanks RC bro, that was really well written and nice of you to say, too. Merry Christmas and yep, 6 problem test coming at you soon. I'm editing it right now in fact!
Thank you for your wonderful description and your great comparison! 👍💪 For me, RGT's Bronco just came out too late. 😉 I've had the Bronco '21 from TRAXXAS for a long time and invested a lot of money in it. This includes new tires, a new engine, etc... A little later the Absima BronX came out, which impressed me with its 1/8 scale instead of 1/10 and its overall package! 👏 So, and now suddenly RGT comes around the corner... Sorry, they just jumped on the bandwagon too late. 🤷♂ Sure, if you get the car paid for 😁, then it's not an issue, but if you have to buy it yourself... I'm a bit of a fan of RGT myself, I bought the Rescuer once and after initial problems I'm very happy with the car, but their Bronco wouldn't make sense for me anymore. 🤷♀
All fair points. Though I've paid full price for all my RGTs, just like anyone else. And I have an upgraded 2021 Bronco from Traxxas, among many others. For what it is, the Pro Runner is exceptional value. I don't see it as being too late, except for you, in which case, of course I understand. But broadly, things continue to evolve in RC and I'm really enjoying watching the process 😊
Nice. I have the RGT explorer (shh dont call it a toyota!) and it has been a lovely experience out of the box. Of course i poured a tonne of money into it for bushless power and enough copper parts to exhaust a small open cut mine. But still ahead of the competition.
@@RCTNT Must admit every time that 8th scale bronco (yikong?) gets fed into my aliexpress algorithm there's that dying sensation of wanting to click the button. Looks very RGT under the hood. It's traxxas money but a whole lotta truck.
I've looked closely at that model and discussed it with others in this same video comment section. It really isn't a clone of the TRX4, but on its own it looks like you do get a lot of vehicle for the money. Glad you're enjoying it!
I have the same TRX4 bronco in blue and it was only $580 after tax here in Virginia, I’m still running stock electronics but I do have some nice brass on it and metal beadlocks
Nice one. That's about what I paid too, once you convert to AUD. The pro scale winch, pro scale light kit, ssd straight axle conversion and a lipo all added to the cost - and the RGT comes with the equivalent of all of these, which was my point. Bottom line though, I'm glad you're happy and enjoying yours 😎
Cool. I wasn't sure I'd made it clear enough as a few comments already have been incredulous I paid so much - but I actually got a relatively good price on the Traxxas stuff, for Australia. I should have done it all with American pricing, but it gets messy because traxxas is cheaper in USA than here, even after accounting for difference in our dollars and shipping cost. I think I'll have to come up with a way to simplify this stuff a bit more! Thanks 👍
@RCTNT excellent 👌,,I want one now ,but just brought rescuer,,hmmm pro-runner very strong contenter for rescuer,,feel I, question, why proline hyrax tyre,s 1.9 have dots on them,, is it to line each separate tyre 🤔🤔🤔😱,,,driving me nuts as to why dots on them lol
I’m getting into the crawling now. I am new to it. I think I’m going to get the Traxxas because I live about 10 minutes from the company headquarters where they have a store. I am thinking that parts will be in stock and can get them without wait.
This is a pretty cool rig! I really like it and probably wouldn’t have looked twice at it without your review! I have a couple Traxxas 21 broncos already but the RGT model looks like a Raptor version…I like all the features and you’re correct ….it would cost A LOT more to upgrade a Traxxas rig with these features….that being said I ordered a red one 😅
As always, Craig, excellent review! First crawler? Being in the States, I think I would have to stay with Traxxxas. The support is unparalleled. just my "quick" opinion.
Thank you kindly. And fair enough, however you can buy two of these for one equivalently configured Traxxas and RGT parts are available by mail. Point taken for the noob factor and having a hobby shop to help replace the Traxxas servo and program the Traxxas esc would be helpful. I'd respond by saying the RGT is far less likely to need this, as electronics are Traxxas' weak point. But I take your point and agree to some extent anyway, yeah.
Now I can't wait to recieve mine. I chose green variant too. Because the manual says that you can upgrade the motor and ESC I would be grateful if you could check whether HW 1080 fits into that plastic bracket.
Interesting, that banggood product page, clearly states in red, that battery is not included. 🤔 But banggood is still in preorder phase, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe they sold few and are back in preorder, not sure. Dispatch date changes.
Hm, couldn't tell you, I didn't buy this from Banggood. Also be aware, depending on where you are in the world, they may or may not be able to ship lithium batteries with a car. Maybe the website gives you a different option based on this? Not sure.
@@RCTNT maybe it lowers their shipping cost (free), or maybe it simplifies their export procedures. But it's not common, for banggood to have different accessories included in the box.
Well, nothing is free. You pay for shipping at some point. It is isn't always overt. Regarding batteries, I dunno, I've found variance over my time buying from BG and Ali. I've probably purchased 7 or 8 vehicles from BG and easily more than 10 from Ali over the past 6 years. Also planes, radios and some professional type electronics for work. I have not found any sort of consistency with whether batteries are included or not, regardless of what the description says. Half our shipping options in Australia will happily ship with batteries, but quite a few will refuse. Global logistics has gotta be complex.
My question would be if they had the battery pack in when the did the weight distribution. Given the pack lays in the back, I'd imagine that distribution will change a bit.
The rampage has been around for 4 years or so now and there are probably ample reviews already on RUclips for it. I'll probably give this one a miss, sorry. I don't think I can add much useful insight to the one!
I was just looking at this yesterday on Asia tee. I'm on the fence about ordering from there since I never have and I can't find anyone from the states who have. Shipping is kinda high to the states but that's expected. According to their site, It would cost $68 to ship it to my house. The total would be $305. That's still a pretty good price compared to what you get!! If anyone from the states have ordered from Asia Tee and had good experience, let me know please! Lol
I can't speak to USA, but I've been ordering from Atees for many years, long before I had any affiliation with them. They have excellent service. The challenge with USA is shipping cost, but they've been working on that too and the Pro Runner is a great deal even with the $68 shipping, IMO. They're killing it! If it helps to know, the person who runs Asiatees is also behind Boom Racing. He's been an industry figure for many years. I trust the company anyway, for whatever that might be worth to you. I would not be recommending nor partnering with them on my channel if I didn't. My opinion may count for less given I'm using their affiliate links, and fair enough, but that's my honest opinion of them anyway. Cheers

Nice review! I really like your Channel. I wonder how does it compare agains the RGT rescuer ex86190. It seems similar on paper. But i dont know who drives better
Subjective answer: Rescuer is more fun to drive with its big bouncy tyres and scale body. Crawls better with its bigger diameter tires too. Remote locking diffs make for a great trail rig. However, it wants some upgrades to help with lowering the CoG and to increase scale. See my upgrades video about that. Pro Runner will crawl better once you fit bigger diameter tires. DIG and servo on axle means it should be a killer on the rocks once you get the tires sorted. Doesn't really need upgrades but if anything, I'd add some brass to the front corners, as per the video recommendation here. Both are a great buy.
Not with this transmission. But yes if you are prepared to spend maybe another $120 or so. It'll need different transmission and transfer case, different shafts to fit, time and care to work it out. Doable, yes. Should you? Probably not.
Hi, great video, I wonder how it compares to the redcat gen 8, cross rc NT4 and the hbr1001. Could I have your opinions on the comparison please? Thanks!
I don't have a NT4 (yet) or a hbr1001 - though I've looked closely at both. If I had to rank likely crawling ability in stock form, based on an educated guess, they'd be in this order from best to worst: NT4 Gen8 v2 Pro Runner HB R1001 For general trail and occasional crawling, I'd still expect to find the NT4 at the top of the pile and the hbr1001 at the bottom, but I'd probably put the Gen8 and the Pro Runner together in second place. As far as fun goes, the Pro Runner is up there. Same with durability. On features alone, it probably wins, though the NT4 should impress as well. Hope that's helpful!
Thanks, I just had a close look at it. It's missing a lot of what the RGT has: DIG, opposing rotation drive shafts, steel drive shafts, spiral cut steel diff gears, transmission based overdrive, steel unis up front, servo winch, 51° steering angle, 55/59° approach and departure angles, SOA with stainless 4 link configuration, 1.9" beadlocks with 4.19" scale tyres, interior (?), 2-speed (?), DumboRC radio, 3s capable, included 6200mah 2s lipo. The RGT really is spectacular value. That said, this may still be an impressive price given its a compete package. No idea about running gear or durability though, while RGT is much more a known quantity (it's maybe my 10th RGT model). I also note the geometry of that cheaper one is quite different to this thing, so I suspect you'd find worse performance all round. That said, a lot is forgiveable at the lower price they're asking. Thanks for telling me about it!
@@RCTNT thanks for the comprehensive reply , I appreciate it! I can only judge of online reviews but it's sorta been made out to be a reverse engineered Traxxas at low cost. But you are right, RGT is a known quantity and does the 1%ers better for a more well rounded product 👍
@BGSyd cool man, I wasn't trying to put your suggestion down, either. But I did want to draw attention to how much more the RGT delivers at its crazy crazy price. I don't know that anything compares. Thaaaat said, maybe I'll check this car out too. It's a compelling price. I can only go from what I see, haven't watched any reviews on it, but the photos tell me it's more of a basic scx10/Gen7 type thing. None of the extras other than maybe lights and a pretty body. Would need to look more closely at it. Interesting though! Cheers
@@RCTNT no probs dude 😎. I don't have the HB, but was mighty tempted and got a fcx24 instead due to size. If you do look into this one at any stage, just check the model. The base which I think is the 1001 is pretty basic but the top model possibly called a 1002/3 (still under 400aud) has portals and a two speed and is basically a TRX clone. I think it's called the Beluga in good clone naming fashion. Love your content dude 👍
Ah yes I think I've since worked that out, I noticed it in a subsequent drive (coming next video). It's not overly intrusive at least, despite indicators on a crawler being a bit silly!
I did find the plastics on the Challenger were not as strong as on other RGTs, yes. But the electronics were nicer than the Traxxas offerings, for sure. Glad you're enjoying yours!
Remember, AUD, not USD. While I paid less than the retail price for Australia (which, for this model, is currently AUD$1050, or USD$705), Traxxas stuff costs more here, even after the conversion rate. It's a lot cheaper in the USA :)
Hm, I dunno. Some stuff is actually better - the electronics, for one thing! But the Traxxas drive train is just incredible. They don't break. The shocks and tires are also unmatched in quality, in my opinion. And of course, the TRX4 injected life into scale trail rigs like nothing else at the time, and that R&D is praiseworthy. But they're freakishly costly next to other options, even premium stuff like cross rc emo series and so on. From my Australian perspective, if I could have a TRX4 with RGT electronics and after market support, it'd be a much easier pill to swallow!
You made me laugh ,I love it when traxxas owners find out there's better stuff available cheaper 😂 it's like my xmaxx as soon as my esc was a year old it said I need to update the firmware so i did and it never worked again afterwards so i calles traxxas they said not our problem youll have to buy a new one 😂 so I told them to fxxk off ,I'll never buy traxxas again if that's how they treat people
That's a shame, sorry to hear it. I'm pretty tired of the firmware updates, it's common with several radios in rotation here and it just takes so long!
Yeah I understood that too, that's the part I was sorry to hear about. Just the radio firmware is annoying to update but to have it kill an ESC, and then to have them wash their hands of it would put me off them too.
Hello again sir, so im in the middle of searching new wheels and found the wheels that i wanted but it writen 1.9" with 5mm holes can i use that with pro runner ? as far i know they should be like 7mm right ? thank you in advance.
Sorry I haven't replied all day, I just haven't gotten to my storage to check for you. I can't recall but if you buy 7mm axle sizes wheels, you'll ensure you're fine either way. It also wouldn't be hard to bore out a 5mm hole to 7mm, worst case. I'll check when I can and will update here. Cheers
Looks like they're 5mm Definitely not 7mm. I compared them to the larger vanquish ones, which are bigger than usual and the RGT ones are definitely the more standard size.
@@RCTNT thank you so much sir, big help, sorry for the trouble 🙏. can't wait your review on the new FMS FCX10 LC80 . i had feeling that 6 problems rocks will put the fcx10 on the edge.
For all the money you have put in the Traxxas you could have bought an Axial 1/6 scale Jeep Wrangler or Honcho! Man Traxxas is expensive! Love all your videos by the way. Very informative.
It was a bit to take, especially after all the stuffing around with getting stock in Australia (I covered this in more detail on my TRX4 Bronco video), but yeah, crazy. Their Pro Light Kit is very nice though. But the value proposition is a difficult case to make, in the face of so many other possible things to consider instead! (But that all being said, I still love the TRX4 for its durability and clever design that really redefined its category of model)
$1400 bucks .......for a Traxxas that hobby shop saw you coming.... that's a $550 truck here ...$1400 gets you an xmaxx was the some upgrades and a battery. You got ripped off on that trx4 mate .
Australian dollars, remember. This vehicle is AUD$1100 here now, though I picked it up for something like AUD$860,which was a good deal at the time. The additional parts added to the cost: Pro Scale Light Kit (AUD$180 in May 2023, Winch (Traxxas brand was $150, though Traxxas parts and accessories availability in Australia is patchy), SSD straight axle conversion ($140). I also quoted what these cost without discounts in the video to make the point. Comes to about AUD$1600, or USD$1050. You get things cheaper in the USA, so your total spend for the same car would be about USD$720. The point was to show how the RGT is about AUD$1k less for similar spec to the modded TRX4. It's vastly better value. Let's put it in USD prices for the comparison. We'll even update it to match the current Traxxas promotion of including the $100 winch with the 2021 Bronco variant, so the TRX4 will be a better contender: Car with winch $550 Pro light kit $100 SSD straight axle conversion $70 Total cost USD$720 RGT Pro Runner, with shipping to USA: Total cost USD$370 Two pro runners shipped to the USA is USD$760. Or you can buy one upgraded Bronco. And the RGT comes with the better ESC and servo. This is the point I was making. Cheers
Sadly, as good as these look, getting parts will be a big problem. Only one distributer in the world, and zero aftermarket support, make this jewel a hard no
Except its not. Speaking as an owner of 7 or 8 rgt vehicles, I've been able to get rgt parts and rgt upgrades from Asiatees and AliExpress. Mostly upgrades, as I haven't broken nearly anything on my rgt cars. But it's harder to get in the USA, I hear. Shipping costs more. But even so, the stuff that breaks is usually electronic, which is fairly universal and doesn't require RGT parts to replace (motors, servos, etc). Even bearings, shocks and links are readily replaced without needing the manufacturer. Really only the axles are the part you need to look out for. These have steel unis in the front. They're unlikely to break, even with abuse. By the way, I figure you worked out I was talking in AUD before with the 'TRX4 is actually only $499' deleted comment. But get this: USD$499 is AUD$735, so you'd think with an allowance for shipping the same $499 car would be like AUD$799 here, or even AUD$849 or something, right? But it's not. It's AUD$1049. So it's USD$715 here for the same car that's USD$499 there. And that should show you why we're so excited about a sub-AUD$600 car like this.
It comes with a winch and light kit. And thankfully, Traxxas pricing for these the TRX4 2021 Bronco have come down a bit for us too, here in Australia. The Bronco was even shipping with a winch for a bit. But the pro light kit is still expensive - just not quite as bad as it was!
@@RCTNT Right on, thanks for your time & efforts put into these videos. I enjoy them & wonder why I don't make some myself sometimes.. I just bought the HB Toys (Bulga lol) $156 shipped from Ali Express. I've been in this hobby since the late 90's racing mostly 1:10 electric off & on-road but have had several nice crawlers. Just can't want to spend $500 on a rtr. I did also recently buy the TRX4M HT Ranger :D & am loving it. Cheers from Oklahoma!
1400 bucks.. sorry but weak shouldnt be in the first min of talking about it.. nor should the need to upgrade anything ... traxxas isnt n hasnt been an option for me for sometime...
It isn't weak, but it is expensive. I think I misspoke about the axles, they're from ssd. The TRX4 axles don't break, they just don't. I'll add a correction in the video notes here, it's an important one. But yes, value preposition gets a bit shaky next to the pro runner here!
Part of it is the import and such. Which I feel like Traxxas should be offering more for the price to overseas customers. In the United States these run $500 before taxes. Light kit is $99. Which is also $99. So maybe 750-760 after tax. But all of us in the states agree as well that Traxxas is doing a lot of coasting. It doesn’t help that Electronics in the trx4 aren’t very good
i think i know what to get for my first 10th scale, this definietly unbeatable for price to performance terms, despite it's UGLY looking body, modern ford it' just look horrible cheap both real life & Rc.
Don't get it if you don't like it, lol Why not consider a different RGT, or an Element RC or FMS model? It's only a good deal if you actually want the thing, after all! Features aren't everything, and sometimes it's worth paying a bit more to get the thing you'd really prefer. Save a little longer, etc. Just a thought!
Can't eliminate Chinese made products as most are Made In China. That being said, given a choice, I'd prefer to stay clear and not support the Zero Boundaries philosophy these Chinese based companies seemingly live by.
Fair point. I'm glad to see rgt innovating at least, as much as I'd like to see them make their own body or try to license one. No excuse for IP theft. But the car under the body is all RGT, which is fantastic to see. They're improving their trail platform with each release.
Traxxas needs a little bashing cause the TRX4 is the oldest platform of the big name crawlers. With the exception of the clipless body it hasn’t changed in years. And for the cost I don’t blame the guy for buying the RGT.
I own five TRX4's and two TRX6s They get a lot of love on the channel. If you write this video off as traxxas bashing, you're missing the nuance. Of course traxxas costs more, they are in America with higher wages and their own property, with parts support in every store and a vast dealer network, plus event sponsorship, etc etc Buuuut, rgt isn't cloning anything here apart from the body (which I'd sooner see them not do, or license it and add 60 bucks to the price). The car itself is unique, as far as I know. And so yes, the price is impressive. It's worth talking about! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. We don't have to agree for me to appreciate you! Cheers
Correct, that the links are affiliates is clearly stated in the Description. I do try to be unbiased despite this potential for corruption. See my other answer to your main post for the rest of it. It's an important conversation. Thanks.
You all apparently do 𝙉𝙊𝙏 get it.. Stop continuing to support Chinese run companies like RGT. Ya its cheaper and for a reason which nobody ever talks about or mentions. You get what you pay for as my late grandfather always said and he was right about that, and China and that was 30 years ago now. I rather support a US company and will gladly pay more for it ane so can actually have a real person in customer service if ever need it unlike overseas. Hopefully these weren't made by 6yr olds..
@dieseldabz7104 Mate, I've had a bad time several times with getting support from Traxxas - which, from where I am in the world, IS an overseas company. I'd prefer to support an Australian company and will gladly pay for more such a product if I could. Now, I have five TRX4s and two TRX6s, a TRX4m, a Stampede VXL, a Slash VXL, two 1/16 Slashs, an X-Maxx, and a bunch of extra parts from Traxxas and RPM. I'm on the Traxxas boat, for whatever it's worth. Happy to support a company who clearly puts the time and effort into their products. Same with others - just look at the channel here. *IP Theft* There's no defense for copyright infringement and I'm not arguing for that. I'd much prefer the car cost an extra $50 or $60 for a licensed body, or for them to have come up with something else themselves. But under the body, the car is unique and in no way copies Traxxas, as far as I can tell. The company has been improving with each model they release and it appears to be an in house effort, in this case. I could be wrong, but over the past few models from RGT - all of which I have here, by the way - their design and execution has been gradually improving. Now, we have a very good car, from which even Traxxas could learn, in some cases (such as a quality steering servo and universal front axles, etc.). *Support* I've needed support twice for RGT vehicles, which is about the same rate I need it from any company, Chinese, USA or elsewhere. I have yet to find any issues there. Indeed, dealing with RGT or its resellers has been *less* of a headache than dealing with Traxxas here in Australia. If I wasn't making videos, I'd still be feeling pretty raw about some of the experiences I've had with Traxxas products, including two cases of fires in a vehicle and multiple times warranty has been declined despite no abuse or unreasonable use when a model is nearly new. I've simply not had that with RGT. *China, Asia & USA* If I have an attitude of 'all Chinese bad', that's going to cut off even those companies that are clearly trying to do it 'properly', with their own R&D and parts, and so on. Again, not defending the ripped-off body on this Bronco. But I want to encourage companies that are clearly trying to innovate. Look, Traxxas, Losi (Kingstar), Tekno, Team Associated, Axial (Kingstar), Arrma (Kingstar) and some of HPI's vehicles are made in Taiwan. Other of HPI's models are made in China, along with Redcat, RGT, WPL, RCRUN, Boom Racing, FMS, MST, ROCHobby, HG, RC4WD and Cross RC. Tamiya and Kyosho enjoy some manufacturing in Japan but also source partially from the Philippines. Traxxas does do some assembly in the USA with their Taiwanese parts, I understand, but they're still working with Taiwanese assemblies and parts. You don't like supporting China, and I get that - I don't have to agree with you to understand why you're unhappy about it. But if you're playing with RC cars, Asia will nearly certainly be part of the supply chain. *Ethical Concerns* I don't have an answer to the child labour element. Absolutely open to proof of such a thing, but without that, what should we do here? Just assume they're all bad? They're not, you know. Some companies are ruthless but many are just doing their thing. Should we stop using consumer electronics, RC cars, and whatever else comes from the continent? It's not a simple problem. No endorsement of such practices, but truly, what's your prescription for this issue? If you say to stop using RC and electronics and follow through on that in your own life, then of course this is admirable and I respect that. But you did type this message to me, so you're using electronics at least... just like me, yep. But what to do about it?
Is it reliable to buy from asiatees hobbies? I have seen that it has very bad reviews. If it is good, how long does it take to ship? I would appreciate your answer 🫡
I don't know about the reviews but I've been buying from Atees for much longer than I've been doing this channel. About a decade now. The owner of Atees is also the Boom Racing guy. They're passionate about the hobby, which is why I do so much with them. I like this company and its values. They ship promptly if it's in stock, and the website is pretty reliable on stock in my experience. As far as shipping time, there's no way to give you a meaningful answer. It depends where you are in the world and what carrier you select at checkout. In Australia I often select Aramex and I get my stuff in about a fortnight. Sometimes I select DHL or FedEx and I get my stuff in a couple of days. If you're in EU, you'll be aware that customs is a challenge - that's not in Atees' control, obviously. But broadly, I trust the company and like what they do. Hope that helps.
@@RCTNT I really appreciate your very quick response, it shows the interest in your community. You gave me confidence and I look forward to buying from asiatees. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
289 👀
$404 Cdn + $987 shipping (ok, I exaggerated sue me lol) I just checked to compare prices, they want $376 CDN for the pioneer and this is twice the vehicle for $28 more.

So many features for your money, amazing!!😮
Pretty incredible, isn't it
@@RCTNT I'm amazed!
@YoShImUrA53 looks like it, I guess, yes!
Couldn't touch that here in the US for under $500
Thanks again
By the way I got the Red one.
Cheers 👍
Wow, RGT is showing traxxass a few things on how to make a rig awesome. Impressive!
Isn't it just
It’s to bad they’re hard to get in the United States.
😂
@@RCTNTNo way. I got mine in 3 days. Ordered Monday night was delivered Thursday before noon. Really 2 1/2 days. Delivered in Texas by FedEx. When ordering i chose FedEx 2 day from Hong Kong.
Truck was $289 + $75 total cost $364. Can't even get anything to the quality and features this unit has for under $400.
The quality is incredible. I love this unit.
Thanks for the info almost no one reviews RGT rigs except Tomley, nice to see alternatives to the big guys! 👍
My pleasure! 2 more videos coming on this rig, and if you're new here, search my playlists for other RGT rigs. I've reviewed a bunch!
@RCTNT
Oh I've seen them all been watching you a while, keep up the good work!
🙏
Killer truck with so many goodies very nice for trailing.
Amazing it has a winch as well.
And strong picked it right up.
I’ll never get one but I’d get it before the traxxas
Love rgt my first crawler was a rock hammer.
Got me hooked
Such a well thought-out machine. I love to see it
Satisfying isn't it
That's a game chamger from RGT!! A third of the price of the TRX, but I'll wager the TRX isn't 3 ti,especially better!! Very nice. 😊
More than you know, yes. They hit it out of the park with this model!
@@RCTNT hopefully, FTX will pick up on this, and we'll see something similar under that brand in the UK? They've just released the Gladius, a Gladiator style crawler, but that's on the Outback chassis. It'd be good to see them mix it up a bit. 👍🏻
For sure. I don't know much about FTX but I do see some identical cars with different names and stickers!
@@RCTNT they seem to just rebrand RGT and HSP, as they all seem remarkably similar! Can't wait to see it running. 😎👍🏻
In my experience so far, hsp goes even cheaper. Their cars are still great value but they just aren't as nice.
@@RCTNT Life finds a way (to break anything) 😆🙃
Hahaha! Yes true enough
@@RCTNT I didn't know it was physically possible to break a TRX4 😰
And I'm not a fan of the brand, but I've seen that chassis taking a beating and always come back for more...
@@RCTNT I did that indeed on the transmitter - our little girl would not be pleased of daddy would break her favorite toy :)
Right on, yeah! Good job then 👍😄
This does look a great truck and lots of really good features so got one on order in the green, had a good amount of FTX crawlers and they have always been good
Oh nice, enjoy! The value is hard to beat.
Dang what a good deal, I got the HB r1001 for $230 recently and it's great too. This one looks a bit better even, I prefer the portal axles on the HB for a trail truck though.
I've heard a few people mention this one in these comments. I'll have another look at it in January. Glad you're enjoying it!
Looks pretty good! Love how competitive the cheaper brands are getting these days..
Me too. Epic value!
For me, RGT's Bronco just came out too late. 😉 I've had the Bronco '21 from TRAXXAS for a long time and invested a lot of money in it. This includes new tires, a new engine, etc... A little later the Absima BronX came out, which impressed me with its 1/8 scale instead of 1/10 and its overall package! 👏
So, and now suddenly RGT comes around the corner...
But still ahead of the competition.
lol glad you're happy!
@@RCTNT Must admit every time that 8th scale bronco (yikong?) gets fed into my aliexpress algorithm there's that dying sensation of wanting to click the button. Looks very RGT under the hood. It's traxxas money but a whole lotta truck.
@wtfmimshag it looks good, doesn't it! A few guys have been talking about it here, I might have to grab one so we can all look closely at it
I payed 200$ for the hb r1001. What is a clone of the trx4 2021 bronco. For the price and the performance the best crawler 2023 ☝🏼🧐
@@RCTNT yea I understood your point and the rgt seems like a great value for your money, all decked out right out of the box 👍
Thanks 👍
They have just brought out ftx gludius over here in uk ,hmmm half bronco ,half ftx tracker, love the front lights 👌
They've done a good job with the lights, yeah!
A logical decision. They're great cars, too. Welcome, and enjoy!
Need it on the rock course ASAP 👍
It's been run and done. Editing now. It'll be the next video 👍
Bwahahaha sorry not sorry
Enjoy!
@@RCTNT I almost pulled the trigger a that Miller RC4WD Jeep last week….something told me not too! Glad I waited to see your review !
@markcole6475 🫡
@@RCTNT We should always agree to disagree. 😉
Nuance is really important in discussions, for sure. Can't get too far without it!
Now I can't wait to recieve mine. I chose green variant too. Because the manual says that you can upgrade the motor and ESC I would be grateful if you could check whether HW 1080 fits into that plastic bracket.
It probably doesn't fit, the 1080 is a little bigger than the 1060. You don't really need the cover though. Just double sided tape will do.
@@RCTNT It fits perfectly. Z height is spot on. Just the bracket needed some trimming.
Good to know!
Interesting, that banggood product page, clearly states in red, that battery is not included. 🤔
But banggood is still in preorder phase, if I'm not mistaken.
I love some of these knock offs. My Absima BronX is my favourite RC by a country mile! I dread to think how much one of those is in Aus Dollars...
No idea, but I'd expect it to be competitive with the bigger brand equivalents at least
My question would be if they had the battery pack in when the did the weight distribution. Given the pack lays in the back, I'd imagine that distribution will change a bit.
Fair question and I agree with your conclusion. I guess that's where the 6 problem course and my trail run footage will be hopefully helpful
@@RCTNT It was helpful!
Oh good! Thanks for letting me know, I always appreciate that! Cheers
Looks like me they straight killed it
It's epic value, I agree. Got a bit to cover, videos are coming 😎
Awesome review bro love watching your videos? Could you do a review on the hbx rampage brushed and brushless?
Cheers

By the way I got the Red one. Good choice love that Red.
@@RCTNT really appreciated that comment! Always curious to compare to other relevant rigs!😃
I really appreciate the coment. Thank you so much!. I am recommending your channel to all my friends because it si s good!
Great video! I'm sold!

Not with this transmission. But yes if you are prepared to spend maybe another $120 or so. It'll need different transmission and transfer case, different shafts to fit, time and care to work it out. Doable, yes. Should you? Probably not.
Wonder if it will take a hobbywing 1080?
It will, but you'll need a new radio system.
Hi, great video, I wonder how it compares to the redcat gen 8, cross rc NT4 and the hbr1001. Could I have your opinions on the comparison please? Thanks!
I don't have a NT4 (yet) or a hbr1001 - though I've looked closely at both.
If I had to rank likely crawling ability in stock form, based on an educated guess, they'd be in this order from best to worst:
NT4
Gen8 v2
Pro Runner
HB R1001
For general trail and occasional crawling, I'd still expect to find the NT4 at the top of the pile and the hbr1001 at the bottom, but I'd probably put the Gen8 and the Pro Runner together in second place.
As far as fun goes, the Pro Runner is up there. Same with durability.
On features alone, it probably wins, though the NT4 should impress as well.
Hope that's helpful!
@RCTNT Wow thank you so much for the information. You're one of the few channels who interacts with all your viewers. Keep up the fantastic work!
I appreciate it, glad to help 🙏☺️
You got me wanting one
That's understandable, this model speaks for itself, doesn't it!
You might wanna check out the HB 1001R which has all the same features and is like $400aud.
Heh righto, good to know! Thanks brother.
When is the video of it running going up
Videos are released on a 5 day basis, so 18/12 3am GMT+1000. Won't be long!
Mine arrived today did not come with a battery also has indicators I don’t think you can turn off if you unplug them the lights still dim when turning
Ah yes I think I've since worked that out, I noticed it in a subsequent drive (coming next video). It's not overly intrusive at least, despite indicators on a crawler being a bit silly!
Awesome 😮
Ps the challenger is what I was talking about. Much better
I did find the plastics on the Challenger were not as strong as on other RGTs, yes. But the electronics were nicer than the Traxxas offerings, for sure. Glad you're enjoying yours!
Wow sangat keren 👍
$1400, you got Robb.
Remember, AUD, not USD. While I paid less than the retail price for Australia (which, for this model, is currently AUD$1050, or USD$705), Traxxas stuff costs more here, even after the conversion rate. It's a lot cheaper in the USA :)
@RCTNT I know but really Traxxas is over rated and over price. I have the rgt challenger and in my opinion it's just as good as the Traxxas trucks.
Is this like a Ford Bronco body? 😁
Ah, that's the big caveat with this car! It does indeed look like one, though it's not licensed!
@@RCTNT But it's worth the bucks way cheaper 🤩👍I saw another one rebranded as "Beluga" 😁
Frod Beluga licensed body!
@@RCTNT Does the RGT offers a white bodyshell? I'm getting one after your video 🤩
Not that I'm aware, it's just the colours I showed from the box (green, blue, red)
@@RCTNT esc Bricked
Cheers
Looks like they're 5mm
Definitely not 7mm.
@DearDiaryMe heh yeah we'll find out soon enough! It's on the way, but not here yet.
We'll even update it to match the current Traxxas promotion of including the $100 winch with the 2021 Bronco variant, so the TRX4 will be a better contender:
Car with winch $550
Pro light kit $100
SSD straight axle conversion $70
Total cost USD$720
RGT Pro Runner, with shipping to USA: Total cost USD$370
Two pro runners shipped to the USA is USD$760.
Nice review but $200 for a winch & light kit each?! wtf
That's awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying the hobby 😎
Don't get it if you don't like it, lol
Why not consider a different RGT, or an Element RC or FMS model?
Give me a break.
Another Traxxas bashing video. I personally wouldn't support a Chinese copy cat company. Of course it will be cheaper. Duh.
Of course traxxas costs more, they are in America with higher wages and their own property, with parts support in every store and a vast dealer network, plus event sponsorship, etc etc
Buuuut, rgt isn't cloning anything here apart from the body (which I'd sooner see them not do, or license it and add 60 bucks to the price). The car itself is unique, as far as I know. And so yes, the price is impressive. It's worth talking about!
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. We don't have to agree for me to appreciate you! Cheers
And he has links so obviously trying to make $ off RGT sales
@@RCTNTProbably because made by kids how do y'all not get that supporting China 𝕀𝕊 𝔹𝔸𝔻? Could continue listing reasons.
*IP Theft*
There's no defense for copyright infringement and I'm not arguing for that.
*Support*
I've needed support twice for RGT vehicles, which is about the same rate I need it from any company, Chinese, USA or elsewhere.
*China, Asia & USA*
If I have an attitude of 'all Chinese bad', that's going to cut off even those companies that are clearly trying to do it 'properly', with their own R&D and parts, and so on.
*Ethical Concerns*
I don't have an answer to the child labour element.
Traxxas is over priced and over rated. I have a couple of rgt rigs and they are great.
