  • I made this TV stand after we bought a new television that had a base that was too large for the old stand. The biggest upside to making something like this for yourself is that you can fit everything you want in it.
As mentioned in the video here's a link to the video Shaun Boyd did...detailing how to get rabbets to fit just right.

Thanks, Turner! That's the best thing about making as opposed to buying!

    Hello my friend.
It's a good project. You've created a nice temper. You can fit a lot of things inside. You did a good job. Great coffee table for new television.
Congratulations. See you. a warm hug. Big greetings. Yours truly.

Beautiful job. Meticulous and thoughtful - will you be embarrassed if I say, a job done with love? Excellent work mate. Incidentally, when I glue anything I slosh the stuff with every applicator to hand and it gets everywhere and that night I find it in my hair and my socks, but boy are those things glued down...

Thank you, Mark...embarrassed?...nah...I like to tell my kids I was born without the embarrassment gene 😂 Too much glue is definitely preferable to too little!

hi Stan. That tv is huuuuuge!!
I like the stand after seeing it on IG, and I like even more now, that I saw all the joints involved.
The only thing, just my 2 cents, I would have gone with mitres also with the edge banding.
    excellent build anyway

Hi Alberto...the TV isn't that big...the cabinet is just a bit small :-) You are exactly right on the edge banding. If I had to use iron on again I would've applied it before I cut the miter in the plywood and done both at once.

Beautiful work Stan 😊 I watched through this a second time after the comment on edge banding and mitres, but after a second look, I really like the way it looks. I even imagined a contrasting strip between the joint lines 😊 ॐ

Thank you, Chris...a contrasting strip is a a very interesting idea!

How's she goin'? Great project and the table looks terrific!! I glue both mortises and tenons. Using the painters tape for miter joints I think is a good idea. I find with clamps they tend to force the miter off a touch, but the tape doesn't apply enough pressure to misalign the joint, in my opinion. Enjoyed watching you make this TV table!!! Take care!!

Thanks, Mike...I believe that glue applied to both mortise and tenons is a good way to do it...heavier on the mortise...lighter on the tenons.

We use the iron edging version! We use it every time and it works great!

Thank you! I think I’m better off making my own...but then my wife says I don’t iron clothes well either...

Beautiful work Stan! Personally I have not had much luck in the past with the iron on edge banding, so I will stick to making my own. :)

Thanks, Grant...I'm definitely in the same camp...self made from now on...or at least after I use up this stuff :-) I wonder what kind of project you could do with just edge banding...

Nice looks really good Stan. Like you I am not a fan of iron on edge banding, usually just comes off after a while.

Thank you, Harki...I guess I’ll just wait until it comes off and the cut my own and apply it. That way I can miter the corners too

Beautiful piece Stan. As for gluing, sometimes I glue both mortise and tenon, but always tenons. For edging, I would make my own veneer if it is going to be a nice piece. So what's good on Netflix? 😎

Thanks, Pascal... I believe I will stick to making my own edge banding from now on. We are just finishing up Peaky Blinders 👍🏼
