DIY Longboard for my Daughter

- My youngest daughter recently rode a longboard with a friend for the first time and had so much fun she asked me if we could make one. I said of course! This project was fun because we used some wood from an ash tree that fell in a snow storm in our yard. There is nothing better than making things with and for your wife and kids. She also did all of the filming for this video and I think in turned out great.
I want to give a special thanks to a young man named Sequoia at Zumiez in the Valley River Mall in Eugene. I'm not really and skater so he was great in helping us come up with the right trucks and bearings for the cruiser and helping us locate the best place to put them on the board. If you live in the Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon and need skateboarding help...I highly recommend him.
All in all, this was a fun project...I hope you enjoy watching it. If you do...please help me out by liking, subscribing and sharing it...Thanks! - Хобби

Thanks, Shaun! She's pretty happy with it so far...really fun for me to watch her ride it too!
Did you get a new logo as well? I feel like I've been gone forever - but I'm baaack
super cool longboard Stan. Your doughter must be super happy. the last scene in the sunset is terrific!!
Thank you, Alberto...she is pretty happy with the board...and that makes me pretty happy as well 😊
Hi Stan, That board is a thing of beauty. Your daughter will be the envy of everyone, especially as it was made by her Dad. Amazing work Stan. Take care. Cheers, Huw
Thanks, Huw! She seems happy with it 😊
This is awesome, Stan! I love the look of the contrasting woods. I didn't realize there were anti-slip additives. How cool! She is going to love this thing! Tell her she did an amazing job filming too!
Thank you, Brent...I appreciate it...and I will pass the kind compliment on to my daughter as well.
High quality work and video once again! I see you invested in the finger snap tool! It can really speed things along! Lol. 👍
Yep...finally pulled the trigger and bought the snap clamps...best money I've ever spent in the shop ;-)
Hi my friend. It was a really nice skateboard. The color and pattern are very nice. Your mastery is already amazing. It's a great pleasure to watch you at work. 👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋
Thank you, my friend. Your encouragement means a lot to me.
This is such a cool gift for your daughter! I love the colors!
Thanks so much!
Well done! She must be really happy with that board!
Thanks so much, Jolien...so far she is really pleased!
Excellent build. This should reach 1Million views. All the best
Thanks so much…this will always be one of my favorite builds because I got to make it with my daughter.
That is really nice and as she out grows it will look great hanging on the wall
Thanks!
Wow Stan. The laminate design is beautiful. Nice jointer jig. Hope you daughter stays safe on it.
Thank you, Pascal...she is really enjoying it as a new hobby.
Amazing board man, love all the different woods used and those beveled edges, yes! Great job!
Thanks so much...my daughter has really gotten a kick out of riding it...a good distraction from being cooped up at home so much.
Fantastic Stan 😊 I was thinking about the fantastic scene with Water Mitty longboarding in Iceland as I watched this 😊 What a great way to use wood from a fallen tree from the yard. I hope your daughter has a great time riding it and that it feels as exhilarating as that movie looked 😊 Blessings to you all there ॐ
Thank you so much for the comment. It’s funny that you mentioned Walter Mitty. That is my daughter and my favorite movie. She has the essence of life quote from the magazine in her room.
Brilliant 😊 ॐ
Those click activated clamps are the best :) Seriously though, that's a beautiful board you've made there. I hope it's still around to show her kids and grandkids :)
Thank you, Chris...my life is definitely easier in shop after I got them! :-)
Such a cool project. Nicely done, end result looks great!!! 🙌🏻
Thank you, Kirstie! 😊
That is a beautifully made video Stan. Great job all round. As always.
Thanks so much, Mark...always appreciated!
That is a stunning board! I hope she loves it.
Thank you! I think she’s pretty happy with it 😊
Wow. That is beautiful. If your daughter is looking for some better cruising wheels i personally enjoy my cloud rides. Just a thought! Have a good day Mr. Mercer. Hope your doing well.
Hey Aram! We’re all doing great here...hope you are too. I will pass on the tip about the wheels...thanks!
The lines match the shape really well.
Thank you, Mike. Had a fair bit of help from my daughter with the lay out.
Stan, that is a super sweet board. Looks incredible! I bet you would have a line of buyers if you made more and put them up for sale! The ending was awesome, but we could not tell if she was smiling or not. :-)
Thank you, Richard! It was one of the more fun videos I’ve done...pretty sure she was smiling 😊
Nicely done, beautiful work!
Thank you very much.
Nice work..beautiful long board
Thanks so much!
That came out awesome! Really nice work man!
Thanks so much...I appreciate that.
very nice work! turned out great!
Thanks, mate!
very nice, I was waiting to see what you would add to not make it slippery. didn't know that stuff would work with clear coats! very cool build
Thank you so much...the grit seems to have held up pretty well...although with the weather we’re having now she’s not riding so much
Yeah I knew this was going to be a great build. Great looking long board Stan, looking good. I was hoping to see you on it doing some flips...😀
Haha...thanks, Harki! Yeah...I’d be doing flips on that thing alright...flips right off the board 😂😂😂
That is so cool! good job!
Thank you, Sydney!
Nice job 👍👍
Thanks so much!
Awesome longboard mate. Makes me really want to make one. You said you used some ash, what were the other woods you used?
Thanks, mate! Definitely have a go at making one...they are fun. The stripe in the middle is Madrone...a tree native to the Pacific Northwest where I live. The darker accent stripes are Walnut. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
StanCrafted cheers mate. Probably won’t be for a few months, but definitely looks like fun to build.
I’m curious how difficult would you say it was? If I could figure out how to ride one to work I think it would be a super cool flex to have made it myself
Hi Luke...if you have access to a few tools this really isn’t too hard of a project...I would definitely encourage you to go for it. 👍🏼
Hi your makers space treacher
