      @@HavanaBobChannel nope think I
Think they enjoyed game. The big contributing factor to that enjoyment seems to be the RPG mechanics.
Most complaints I’ve seen online are people upset about loading screens, fast travel, menus, and bugs. Most praise is about the story, factions, and rpg mechanics.
Many people seem to use their ship
Purely as a fast travel point like KOTOR or outer worlds. And many people didn’t know you can explore space without going into a menu most times. As a result people feel like ships are not well done as they were expecting a more NMS or Elite style space exploration. Which is a fair criticism, I do think seamless exploration is the standard for space games right now, and I would have liked it here. Though I don’t think Starfields space exploration is bad. You can still mine for resources, fight enemies, find points of interest, and you can travel to/land on planets without very much menu time. It’s just a loading screen and a cinematic rather than an animation you can cancel if you want.
Some people really don’t like this game and that’s ok, some people think it’s ok, and some love it and that ok to. People saying they like a game doesn’t mean they were paid to say that and I see no reason to believe that’s the only reason it’s gotten good reviews. Some people really do like the game.

All those mid reviews feel like they come from reviewers that barely played the game. So many of them sound like they played the main quest, tried a couple other things and that was it. But that’s not how Bethesda games work! If people only played the main quest in Skyrim there’s no way it would be as popular as it was! It’s the living breathing world and the immersion that make these games so special. Want to convince a would be hero? Go with noble deeds... Want to convince a normal person? Make arguments that normal people worry about...
I dunno if it's confirmation bias, but I definitely seemed to notice I had more success picking suitable options than I did by simply picking "safe" (as in green) options, even if those options were often more difficulty options...

@KikyouNeko the reason why this game has so much backlash is because this game had 3 separate hate campaigns before its launch singing for the games downfall.
You had the Sony fans wanting an xbox ip to flop
You had older fallout fans who have hated bethesda for over a decade and always want to see them fail
And you had ES fanboys who were mad that this game delayed es6.
Couple that with a few mainstream youtubers hating on the game like penguinz0 and asmongold, and you had a hate campaign big enough to sway the dumbass general gaming audience to join in.

So it sounds like you really shouldn’t try to min/max by just taking whatever background and traits are technically the most useful to any character, and instead go with the ones that support your specific character fantasy, as those choices flavor your entire experience.
This is awesome to hear, because I was making my guy last night, liking the idea of being a space trucker, but ended up going with the Scoundrel background simply because it was more well rounded, and I could still pretend to be a space trucker anyway. But as soon as I got up from the med bay, the lady called me a troublemaker, and I was like “yeah yeah…”

Glad to see you guys are as in love with this game as I am. As lore enthusiast and gamers who take time to really get into the game you’re playing and character you’ve made it’s nice to hear from people who “get” what the game is trying to do. It feels like so many reviewers have just tried to play the game start to finish without really taking the time to let it soak in and enjoy the greater experience. Personally it just feels like most big name reviewers have failed getting into what the game is meant to be and it’s effected their opinions negatively all for the sake of having that review deadline. Starfield is such an immense game with so many options and stories that it’s almost unfair to even put reviews out with less than 100 hours😂 Not everyone has the time of course but Starfield is definitely a game where the more you put in the more you get is a true statement.

Can you please tell me what the game is meant to be? I am truely curious. Because i went into the game, expecting "skyrim in space". You know, having fascinating things to explore around every 2nd corner, being fully immersed in the rich game world, havibg near endless role play capabilities. This is what i felt with Skyrim. And this is what I expected from them in Starfield. Now i have to say that i was skeptical going in. While i love space as a topic beyond anything else, the trailers only peaked my interest to a certain degree. That doesn't mean i am not invested in a good space RPG.
But i get into Starfield and choices don't matter, environmental storytelling is not present for the most part, there is no immersive exploration, there is no immersive quests or dialogue or anything of the sort. On top of that there are immersion breaks around every 2nd corner. A 2m high fence on mars? Yeah who'd pay for that? Fruits left in the open on a planet with no atmosphere? Makes total sense, especially the part where you or the NPC would eat it with the space suit on. Or worse, taking the space suit off. Menus. Menus upon menus. The spaceship is only there as a hub for fast travelling to and from. Space combat is a minigame you can have on top. There is no flying experience. There is outdated and shallow gun and melee mechanics. Like please, tell me: what is Starfield? "A bethesda style rpg"? No. Because i played a bethesda style rpg. And they can do way waaay better than starfield. There is no rpg. There is no open world. Starfield is a sad experience of marketing success.

It's an RPG first and foremost, if that's not your cup of tea, then you've got nothing to look forward to. If you do like RPGs, then this game has you covered in spades. The enthusiasm is great, and it's nice seeing a positive review.
It really does go against most of the other reviews. Not talking about the unnecessarily critical ones, but ones that detail the good and the bad.
It's so strange how Bethesda fans you thought would love this just do not find it to be that good in terms of npcs, exploration, writing and especially the story, yet far fewer seem to think these very widely criticized segments are phenomenal.
This is honestly the most messy review consistency I've seen since Death Stranding.
I know I'm going to enjoy this game once I've upgraded my PC, but man, am I confused.
So many people don't have the luxury of making the purchase without sacrificing the funds they could use for a game they might enjoy more, but have to find the crazy division between reviews.
So many trusted reviewers say that the cities feel lifeless and the exploration is menu based and broken by loading screens.
But it really is refreshing to see a more positive review and I'm definitely coming back as you always give excellent tips. Been watching you since Fallout 4's early days and have learned a lot from this channel.

There are 12 unique planet locations with enemies and 3 identical human enemy types to exist. 36 possible identical encounters that play the same fucking way on over 100 planets that all look geographically flat.
I was expecting either next-gen procedural generation that felt truly random (cliffs, rivers, ecosystems) or at least a few hundred unique POIS/Random encounters.

I used to be a gamer in my teens and early 20's (now in my late 30's), and havent gamed for quite a few years. I got on my sisters Xbox to give it a go, mainly because GTA wasn't working. Got totally engrossed after playing for an hour. The more I played, the more blow away I was. So many options, worlds, quests and characters to discover. Side quests are like their own games. Unreal.

Glad to see a channel that actually loved this game, it was feeling like I was alone in loving it. I know many people like it but didn't think it was necessarily think it was great so I felt alone in truly loving this game. This is my second favorite bethesda game 2nd to Skyrim. Also idk why so many people hate the main story, I thought it was different to anything other games have done, though I know lots of movies are doing the multiverse thing. I think Starfield does the multiverse story type really well and I really enjoyed the direction it went in. I also love the final choice and how it ties into an actual game mechanic of starting a new game plus. Overall I love Starfield. If Skyrim is a 10/10 then Starfield is a 9/10.

I get so confused by some reviews, or comments I see that talk about or review Starfield as something comparable to No Man's Sky or Star Citizen. The game shines brightest when it's reviewed as an RPG first, and space sandbox second. I'm see people complain about not being able to fly in the atmosphere of a planet, but not mentioning the much improved persuasion minigame. It wasn't until this review that I saw anyone mention how a LOT of the backgrounds come up in smart and meaningful ways that alter outcomes. I don't know why so many people were expecting not a BGS RPG from BGS but... At least FudgeMuppet's got it!
I'm also EXTREMELY excited for your builds. I've been playing as my go to goodie two shoes character, but for the first time in a while I'm really excited to play an evil character, it seems like Starfield will actually make it fun and interesting.
I also love these videos because the comments are really nice. Either with actual criticism or just enjoyment. The Steam Discussion page really should be avoided at all costs.

Tiny random copy paste planet maps with invisible walls
Menu, load screen, door, load screen, menu, loadscreen gameplay.
    Fallout 3 interactions with NPCs
    TES Oblivion inter-NPC interactions
    Soulless NPC voice acting
    Space is a minigame
XP through crafting copy's Elite Dangerous' perpetual GRIND
Skill tree and leveling system promote GRIND
    Fetch quests simulator
    Bullet sponge enemies
    Forgettable (read insufferable) companions.
Lobotomy victims are more useful in combat than companions.
