Merry Christmas everyone! Hope this helps smooth things out..... Cheers! Ian
Merry Christmas to You Too
Lets hope they continue to smooth things out on the next update.
All the best to you and your Family Ian..
Merry Christmas and thank you for your videos. Stay safe and best wishes from Germany
Thanks once again Ian; I’m not buying one yet but; it’s all good stuff! Have a Merry One and as all always, egészségedre! Cheers mate! 🦚🎄🦉🥂😊
Cheers fella!! Have a great Christmas and a very happy New Year! :)
The problem for me is that the mavic 3 is also jerky with the sensors off. Nothing like i get with the mavic 2 pro, which is very smooth
Great video 👍 liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing 😄
Thanks and welcome aboard :)
Great video ! Is there a similar settings for Yaw speed and smoothness in Mavic 2 Pro ? EXP and Attitude setting just won't make the trick... it still has very jerky rotational movement... Thanks !
Have a watch of this one 👍🏻👍🏻 ruclips.net/video/B4yRogUz6g8/видео.html
The bypass mode trick is the bomb! Trying to center on my landing pad my 2s was jumping around like a leapfrog.... Now smooth as silk! Thanks Ian!
And that answers why my new Mavic 3 flew like a scared cat. Thanks.
Thanks for the tips. I wondered why my drone kept jumping around with just the slightest movement of the sticks. I changed the bypass to brake and wow now it flies as it should.
I tried to click the like button as I thought this was a very helpful video. However, when I hit the like button the dislike button keeps getting highlighted! I tried several times but with the same result, so I just left it alone. Maybe it’s a glitch on my end. My Mavic 3 would stop so hard, I thought it’s covering would fly off!!So this was indeed a great and informative video!
Cheers for the good words 🤠👍🏻
Very helpful. Thanks.
Hi matey are these new exp setting on the air 2s buddy merry Christmas and New year to you keep doing your stuff in 2022
Air 2 S already had them 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Why is the bypass mode so Jerky?
Although it is summer now, great advice in your video. I will try the settings available in my DJI Mini 4K. Thanks.
Another great well explained video Ian. I saw the vid title and thought this is exactly what I nned to know. I have an A2S and I just bought a mavic 3. BOTH drones give choppy/stuttery footage, no matter what settings I try, and I believe I've tried em all! Hence watching this. BUT, I see your video is similar, especially when panning - it's not smooth Ian! Even watching on the phone or tablet, I see it's not smooth, even when not recording! Do you, or anyone, have any ideas as to what's wrong? have I bought two duff drones? Thanks.
No. Planning will often give slightly choppy video if you watch on RUclips as the compression is fairly brutal. But reducing the bitrate to under 100 and maybe filming in 2.7k will help. 4k is very tough on almost all devices...
@@IaninLondon Thanks Ian, but the choppyness can be seen on the phone or tab screen when flying, so has nothing to do with RUclips/SD card or PC. I didn't want to spend c£2.5k on a drone to shoot in 2.7k (which you cannot do on the M3 as you know - A2S now sold btw). Reducing the bitrate - on what or where Ian? Are you talking of the upload to the tube? I've seen so many video shot with the M3 that are choppy/juddery while panning, even slowly. I'm on my 2nd M3 now, as I returned the 1st one as not fit for purpose, and this is the same. I cannot get smooth panning shots, no matter what settings are used; and I must have tried >30 combinations. I'm not happy with DJI, as you may gather. I've sent 10 short vids to 3 friends, who all say the footage is choppy, and those videos are now in the hands of DJI, so I'm waiting for their response. I'm now on FW 0900 and sat lock still takes c5mins. AirSense does not work, at all! IMO, the M3 is a mess and should not have been released. Phew - rant over - have a good day.
ALL of MY settings look COMPLETELY different on my 3 Classic. December of 2022. Am I doing something wrong? Classic with DJI RC with screen
They've updated the screen. Watch this video. It's the same for the Mavic 3 now...ruclips.net/video/6LP0wdccpyc/видео.html
@@IaninLondon FANFLIPPIN' TASTIC! Thank you Ian. Subbed!
I am shooting with Mavic Pro 3 Cine on D-log ProRes in 422 HQ, and I use 5.1K resolution at 25fps. I noticed that when I tried to edit on DaVinci Resolve, my files are really slow, and I use a Mac. Is it the format I use, or is it my Mac that's the problem? What should I do?
For me, this was an incredibly valuable video!!! Thank you so much for this clear, to the point explanation! Would love to see more like this, where you e.g. show a video of yours and expain, why you chose this and that setting.
quite useful intel
Nice one 🙂
You mentioned where setting could or should be but you didn't actually show where your settings are! Give me a starting place! Not a guessing place!
Hi Ian
Before i spend another hour - 12 hours already gone trying to find the answer to this , Could you let me know if you know. I am using Mavic 3.
If i do a mastershot and then use one of those cheesy DJI pre-made templates and then export it its only coming out at 1080P , The mastershot was filmed in 4K but when i use those DJI templates its converting it to 1080p.
Am i doing something wrong or can you not get 4k if you use those templates ?
Thanks so so much
I actually haven't tested that output yet, so for now, o can't answer you fella. Will have a play this weekend 👍🏻
@@IaninLondon if it’s the same for you , please let me know
Thanks Ian
Helpful!
I don't really understand why smoothness is a problem for DJI. In Betaflight the stock rates is something like 660 degrees/second and we don't have any problems getting smooth video and we don't even have any camera gimbals...
Nice job
I can’t get the same settings because I’m using an iPhone and the settings are different, I don’t know what’s what, IOS complicating things again…
Great video. Will make these changes today before flying at the beach in Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks Ian:)
Thanks
Thank you Ian, good solid advice once again
Cheers
Andy B.
Ooooohhhh... New learning! Love watching your videos!
OK Thanks with General parameters BUT most of us will want you to commit an opinion as to the best settings as a baseline.
Does this work for the Mavic 3 Pro. I can not fine those settings.
They updated the menu structure: ruclips.net/video/JPiV4RFpCqU/видео.html
@@IaninLondon thanks. I discovered the location for the setting. They are a little different.
The title says it all! I personally am having difficulty flying my Mavic! Will defo try these settings.
It is the smooth fly I am having bad luck with. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for an excellent tutorial. Would you share your settings that you use as a starting point for those of us just learning and starting to play with these settings?
Hi David. Try taping the number and putting in 0.1
Thank you!! Spot on with your explanation. 👏👏👏
Been looking forward to this one Ian. Happy Christmas bud
Happy Easter 🐇 … thank you for this great information.
This video was extremely helpful. Thanks so much!
Been waiting for this. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Are these settings can be applied to All Mavic 3 models?
Thanks Ian I will try your settings later, keep up the good work, looking forward to the next one.
Merry Xmas Ian, nice to see we have more control on our Mavic 3 😁
Useful knowledge imparted again. Merry Xmas Ian. Hot here in Perth Australia. Above the century easily. Cheers. Merv
Cheers Merv! Have a great Aussie christmas! :)
Wow I've always been bothered by how sensitive the sticks are, can't believe it took me this long to look it up. Great tutorial.
Love your videos. I’m from Ontario Canada. And am in the process of purchasing my first drone. The Mavic 3 classic. I was concerned bout the jumpy controls. Looks like these are resolved. Like you’re down to earth reviews and comments. Thanks again.
Avoid Bypass Mode and you're fine 😀👍🏻👍🏻. Just double check the rules as I think Canada is a bit strict on models over 250gms. Cheers.
I’m happy find your channel , was looking for find drone movement in order to capture smooth and nice footage but couldn’t find it .
Appreciate it for great review, cheers
Cheers 👍 👍 👍
Useful information imparted once again. Thanks Ian and Merry Xmas. Hot dry Xmas here in Perth Australia. Above the old century mark. Cheers .. Merv
Cheers Merv. All the best and thanks for your support! Ian
Bonjour,
Interesting explanations about undocumented aircraft behavior which could destroys my/our footages. For example, uncontrolled Yaw axis rotation speed. "Exp" axis coordinates documented in your video change my perception of these settings. Your subject is well organized, well documented and everything on it is coherent and is in right place. Thats my opinion. Merci.
It seems there is no possibility to control Gimbal Yaw axis with Remote Controller like Pitch axis.
This possibility exist on DJI Inspire
I dont see anything on this subject for Mavic 2 pro or Mavic 3 ?
Similar controls for those models too. I have done a video for the M3 as well. Thanks for the good words 👍🏻👍🏻
Your video answered a serious question I've been confused about in regards to gimbal and flight adjustments. I'm so glad I saw your video and I thank you greatly!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Man I love your tutorial videos really great. Thank you!
thank you for sharing the default settings are horrible
Some great tips here. Thank you.
a up Ian had my mavic 3 since it come out got latest updates but i wont fly untill i no for sure everything is ok can't wait to fly it untill then i will keep flying my other drones like you i got nearly all the DJI drones always watching your channel keep up the good work pal merry christmas pal
CHeers fella! Yeah, be good when it gets all the modes and functions.... Air 2S still my fave.... Have a good one :)
Great review and simple and easy to follow and the brake mode got rid of a lot of frustration with the drone for that reason only, cheers mate :)
Oh my goodness I couldn’t agree more with regards to using BRAKE instead of BYPASS on obstacle avoidance as I was flying my brand new mavic 3 on my own land in active track in my 10 acre field with trees only on the border of each edge of the field and I wasn’t riding my bike anywhere near the edge but the useless drone was flying all over the place until it crashed into a huge oak tree and fell to the ground writing it off with all the damage caused. It was the first proper go of the drone. Luckily I had insured it and yesterday (2 months later) I got a brand new replacement delivered 😁👍🏼 and I can assure you I won’t be trusting this drone in active track ever again!!!!!! And I am just about to do my settings and put it on BRAKE! The tech on this drone should be better with the sensors all around but it doesn’t appear to have improved much in this respect! Very disappointed but I’m sticking with the Mavic 3 purely based on the quality of the photo’s that I can get from this drone, they are truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best on a drone that I have tried so far (and I have owned many 😆). Thanks for all your wonderful video’s Ian! Keep up the good work!
Who do you use for insurance? And cost/features? If you are willing to share.
Hi Ian. I really enjoy your videos. I have the new DJI Mavic 3 Classic but can't find the Advanced Gimbal settings mode as for the Mavic 3? Will you be doing a similar review of the Classic?
These have indeed changed; on the case!
Excellent Tutorial Video Ian! Merry Christmas To You and Your Family.
Cheers Doug! Have a great christmas yourself! Ian
Good info about the difference between bypass and brake. Still I hope DJI makes them both equal one day because I like to fly in bypass instead of brake. Merry Christmas!
Sure they will sort it out..... Merry christmas... :)
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Ian. Ur a gentleman. Cheers frm usa. Helped me once again. Stay safe
Glad to help 🤠👍🏻👍🏻
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Thank Dennis! You Too!
Can you please make another tutorial on Gain and Expo Tuning on Mavic 3? Since update theres few new things on there and not much info is found online. We would greatly appreciate. Thanks!
Here you go! I'm using the Air 2S but the new screen layout is the same: ruclips.net/video/6LP0wdccpyc/видео.html
menu/ video/normal\ Thats as far as I get. No zoom or FPS. everything is updated. Any ideas????
Do you have an SD card in and are you in Video mode? (button above shutter button)
Excellent video and tutorial.
Excellent ‘over the shoulder’ shot.
Brilliant update to the one you did a while back with Air 2. I don't like quite as much smoothness as you on the gimbal and even less on yaw for one reason: Overrun. When at distance on M3, the tendency to bypass (overshoot) the object you are are trying to nail on a turn or fly over. You explain it so everyone can get exactly what works for them!
Yep, that's why it's important to try things for yourself. Glad you've got it sorted 👍🏻👍🏻
Very helpfull, thank you !
Do you use the 180degree rule? Is aperture f5.6 really optimal? 24p or 30p?
I tend to shoot in 25 fps and a bit more than 180'. So more around 1/80 - 1/100 second. ,👍🏻
is you enable avoid sensors it pulls your battery down very fast. same with Mavic 3 & mavic air 2.
I don't see that. Makes a very minor difference 👍🏻
Good info as usual Ian. Merry Xmas from a hot summers day here in NZ.
Merry Crimbo! Hope it's warm and sunny!! :)
Hi Ian thanks for all the videos you put up have leant so much about drones after watching all your videos… I have been flying drones about 2 years and have a mavic air 2 witch I am very happy with .. I am just a hoppy flyer and do not use my drone for any commercial purposes but recently been accused by a dog Walker that my done has Freaked his dog and now gone missing .. I have obeyed all the law regarding dones and was just wounding if you know how to resolve this situation … I know the law did change about a year ago and watched all the videos you put up about this that 50 meter rule
Well, dogs do get freaked out by drones but also many other things. If your drone was a good 40 - 50 metres away from the dog , it really can't be blamed. And even if you were closer, dogs tend to run towards drones rather than running away....
@@IaninLondon thanks so much for reply it’s really helpful thanks again happy new year
Hi Ian - I just went back and revisited this video that provided such an outstanding explanation.. was wondering if you would care to share your advanced gimbal settings for the three different modes that you have settled on..? This would certainly give me a good place to start and I would be grateful if you would share this with us... If you have already published a video with these settings, kindly share the link to it with me as I obviously have missed it... Gratefully..
Latest video for the MIni 3 has these values in the video notes; here they are for you:
Pitch Speed: Low (15 - 20 '/s)
Pitch Smoothness: High: (25-30)
Yaw Rotation Speed: Low (15 - 20 '/s)
Yaw Rotation Smoothness: High (25-30)
@@IaninLondon Thanks so much..!
Thanks again for such an informative video Ian. You seem to be the only person that covers these key features 👍👏
Thanks Brian 👍🏻👍🏻
DJI sure do have some strange setting and descriptions. 1/ The fact that in gimbal settings it has YAW settings, I’d prefer that ALL setting that affect the drone movement be in their own category. I only just got my M3 a few days ago and discovered this, which I thought was odd, but good to see here this backs up what I found. 2/ Bypass / Brake Mmmm this is really odd that without obstacles the drone will react differently in each setting. I didn’t know this, but I did decide on using brake mode as my default, then setting to bypass specifically when I might require. My logic was I would mainly want the feature to stop me from moving sideways, backwards or upwards where I cant see if I was manoeuvring around and there was an obstacle I was not aware of there, then if I specifically wanted it to follow me for example through a forest then I would want bypass. Thanks for info Ian
Cheers! Yep, shame the settings are all over the place....
It also seems strange that there is no setting to decrease the maximum speed of the aircraft (not to mention the elusive C2 ' low-speed mode). A user-controllable max speed would be extremely helpful...
As would Tripod mode. Not happy that the Fly app seems crippled compared to Go4. And Waypoints…
Thanks
Thank you 🤠👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
you are a terrific educator. Thank you for this video!
Thank you sir! :)
Ian…..Thank you sooooo much, excellent presentation WOW Your correct on all statements as I too find it changed my whole experience 🛸🚀
Thanks again Ian,any chance you can adjust the stick movement on the Mini 2? Hopefully we were included in the update. As ever very helpful 👍👍
Next video..... ;) Merry Christmas Karen.
Thanks Ian 👍🎄
Concise, well done.
Great video.....
I know it’s all preferable but have u found a good “formula” for the choice of speeds that work well together
Another good and informative video Ian.
Merry christmas Lyn!
really good but would loe to know your actual numbers for pitch settings etc rather than just high and low?
Video chingon amigo
Do you have screenshots of your recommended advanced gimbal settings as a starting point?
Check the notes of last week's video. I list them all 👍🏻
@@IaninLondon thank you
I have a dumb question - What is the best frame rate if i want to speed up my video in post? DJI Mavic 3
If you're speeding up, then it's pretty irrelevant, as you are compressing the frames. 25 / 30 should be fine. It's slowing down where you need way more frames per second to ensure a smooth finish.
@@IaninLondon much appreciated 🙏
Merry Christmas Ian. 🎅
Cheers! You too!
Hi again Ian. Another very useful tutorial. I have a new M3 Classic and keen to optimise the drone settings. In your Pitch and Yaw settings, your video didn't show your final recommendations so I have deduced that the following would work best: Pitch Speed 31 Pitch Smoothness 24 Yaw Speed 52 Yaw Smoothness?
Yes; ultimately do what works for you, but generally it's low speed, high smoothness.
Thanks Ian 👍 Happy Christmas 🎄 😊 I'll give the settings a try tomorrow if the rain stays away . What camera setting do you use I'm still experimenting like dlog but would like to option to add sharpness /contrast / saturation like we have on the mavic 2 pro .
Hey fella; still experimenting..... Have a great Christmas... Ian
We'll done Ian this was a well executed and understandable video, thx for sharing
thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Great bit of information once again 👏🏻 thank you for all your efforts this year I’ve really enjoyed the information you have shared 🙏🏻 have a great Christmas Ian and a fantastic new year 🥂🍾
Cheers fella! Merry Christmas too!
Been waiting for this one. I hope to see an update with the settings you've settled on, and work well for you after a months time or so. Thanks!
Yep; still playing around with them...... Cheers, Ian
