Hey, I love your videos and I am watching them all the time in order to learn from you, because you provide so many interesting facts and share info about differences in breeds, but mostly I love your gentle and emphasising approach towards your dog-clients❤ I am asking myself (because of my own rescue dog who is not happy at all with the blow dryer) if it would be smart to distract him with a locking mat attached to the wall…? I never saw anything like that in grooming videos - I assume there must be a good reason for that… is it too risky because the dog would defend his treat and start to bite the groomer? Just curious about that.
@girlwiththedogs212 with double coated dogs, like Aspen, it will save ur drains to brush with a slicker while u have to dog soapy...it will also stop a lot of the Xtra floofs from flying all over ur shop❤ & it's the best way to accomplish a "shed-less" groom🫶🏼 ur doing a great job & in just offering some sage advice after 30 yrs in the business😊 Roughing in a clip prior to bath is also a great way to save time & money as it reduces the risk of tightening mats & ur not wasting shampoo & water & drying time with hair that won't be kept in the long run...
I wouldn't bet on it. I have a rescue that was just like that in the beginning and very smart. We have done so much grooming training and it went really well until one groomer cut the nail a little too close (not even bleeding) and we are back to banshee. Smart but suspicious...
That's how my dog was. We took her from the shelter straight to a bath (she was filthy) and she tried to fly out of the tub. It was a long day for everybody. Every bath since then she got better, now she tolerates her baths very well! Never happy about it, but I'm sure most dogs arent 😅
Aspen is adorable. Poor boy was scared, but still did very well for his 1st spa session. I hope he continues to be groomed by you. The color of Aspen's coat reminds me of a caramel latte.
I think it's just a personality trait. I had a Dalmatian who hated getting wet so much that he walked around puddles. Every bath was a two person job, and rainy days were so stressful.
What an absolutely beautiful dog! The fact that he's a rescue makes me incredibly sad. Not because he has been rescued but because he needed rescuing to begin with, of course.
He was such a good pup. I did laugh during the blow-dryer because he had moments that he remembered he is part husky and just went from quiet to full drama and back to being a good boy xD

Aspen was a very good boy, we will never know the trauma he underwent prior in life and having something unknown thrown at him he held up like a champ! Rescues have invisible (and sometimes visible) trauma I have had many in my life time and you learn clues and deal with each one individually.
Not every "rescue" was abused or went through trauma. Much as some people need them to be, to the disturbing point of shopping for dogs based entirely on which one has fake trauma for them to exploit
@@nickywal Hmm. I didn’t think about that. I feel like I know the type of person to exploit their pets trauma but I can’t think of a rescue that didn’t kinda go thro some kind of at least little trauma.
@@nickywalWell, rescue does mean helping someone/something in trouble. There's a story to tell with them. They either rescued him from the streets as a stray or from a bad environment.
Interesting take, nicky. I know of a rescue dog whose history is mostly just a stray life, but he still has trauma.
