I was considering signal but after looking at the permissions they want 63 permissions. They want my contacts permission so they say that they're able to edit or manage their emails texts and storage why do they need 63 permissions 63
WhatsApp is not safe any more , One of my friend told me that when he went to court’s for inquiry at that time they ask questions about his chat informations and calls records they know what he chats & also speak !

What if i’m not texting someone who uses one of these apps, lets say I’m texting someone with ios or android, will the protection still be the same? Also, do i get another number to use with these apps or do i have to use my own phone number like with whatsapp?

my phone is set up with microG so it has no Google implementations or Google play/services dependencies, my Signal app is called Langis & is a FOSS patched fork of the original app,its designed to function on devices with old or outdated Google services or set up with microG so it has no dependencies
Some texts i get from my son are normally readable, some say encrypted
He knows nothing about them and have not seen a key or padlock in the chat window

Signal is great but they don't support SMS anymore. I get that this if for security reasons but I don't want a separate app for people who don't use signal.

I just need an android messaging app that lets me block scam SMS texts while still allowing texts from friends and family that may not be using the same app. I've already enabled "spam protection" settings but they're pretty much useless.

Signal messages are only encrypted,if it shows Signal message,if they don't have Signal they are sending you an SMS and that isn't encrypted.

I use text messages. I try to leave smart phone at home as soon as I can. I cant use Facebook or Google , i think it is disgusting , Snapchat to.. feel hadicaped .

Get a second sim card, put it in your phone and set up the messenger app using that sim card & number, not your real number. It keeps your personal information safe from the app.
