Ang Lee is a true visionary, this film was so ahead of its time it's silly. He must have known the risk when it came to creating this film with it being a character study of both Hulk and Banner rather than what surely everyone expected it to be - a quick and easy big budget movie of the Hulk going on rampage after rampage with little substance. Instead Ang simply didn't care because he knew what he was making was a deep dive into what the Hulk really is and people just weren't ready for such tonal whiplash right after the campiness of Raimi's Spider-Man. I'm glad this film continues to get praise for what it was trying to do. My all time favourite Marvel film next to Raimi's Spider-Man 2
Ang lee was such a great storyteller and director. The film had a deep and emotional story. People with anxiety and past traumas can relate to this film. It was a superhero film that was also a dramatic tragedy. People hate it cuz it doesnt have stupid ass jokes every 5 seconds and a hulk design that doesnt have stupid popping veins.
People just wanted a dumb action movie, which at the end of the day Hulk 2003 is more than that sure it has action but it’s mostly a dark art house film.
Agreed. Him, Raimi, Nolan, Donner, Burton, and Del Toro are but a small number of superhero directors who actually had a vision for their films. The MCU directors are honestly more like project managers than actual filmmakers.
What a cool featurette. I wasn't really aware of that movie, but now, after having seen the fantastic, thoughtful and deep work that's behind it, I think I wanna see it!
Nick Nolte's character did a lot of damage to this film that had such potential. That ending was so outrageously silly. Still loved the action sequences and cinematography though.
@@llucasn The father storyline is the movie's storyline. It's all about how David Banner's abuse affected Bruce, and how Bruce inherited the Hulk in a sense from his father. The whole movie is about the tragedy of their relationship. It's a brilliant, underrated film. Very ahead of it's time...

What people think. Its still my favorite film. Still watch once in a year.
Yes, for sure. Incredibly underrated movie. I like it a lot.
Lee and Ferrigno are my hulks❤️
Imagine if Ang Lee directed a Godzilla movie
Holy god Jennifer Connelly's hotness in this movie is off the scale
She's still got it to this day. Ever see Alita: Battle Angel? Okay movie but damn, did she look good in stockings.
I really wish this movie got more respect and consideration, there's so much emotion and thoughts to mine so much meat on the bone
💚 he is with Sam raimi one of the iconics from the begining from marvel studios

best hulk
I like this film so much!

Grew up with this one, got to rewatch it soon. Watched all the time, played the GBA game and the GameCube game alll the time
Denis Murren, one of the OGs of ILM that worked on Star Wars.
6:07 unused roar
I assume they probably used lion roars as temps.
This is a more complete story than the Mcu
Desculpe ang lee você fez o melhor filme do hulk
I really don't understand why Marvel doesn't follow the story of Hulk in 2003 and then there will be Hulk 3
@@jerry3483 why can’t I find cara Bouno scenes anywhere on set of the hulk movie with Paul kersey
Criminaly underated film
The only two things I didn't enjoy about this movie - the dogs and not enough Hulk, other than that this movie was fantastic!
We get a whole
30
Minutes sequence that it’s just hulk fighting
The dogs originated from the comics.
Why didn't you like the dogs

Totally agree. The father storyline was so unnecessary.
I respectfully disagree with you.

@@llucasnthe father storyline is central to the hulks story. The influence our parents have is us even before we have memories.
What's silly about the ending
Lee shoulda let Bana do the mocap work. So weird.
Lee looks kinda ridiculous here.
